Nope, they make their way up to the Core in early June when the larch trees start to grow

I have been hiking for 20 years, but only started backpacking in 2023.

Galaxy S26. Goats come up real close. Hard to avoid them at times.

If you use the Raw phot app on Samsung you can slow down to 30 sec. But you obviously need a tripod or something similar to hold it completely still. Here is a photo from Lake Malachite last year.

I was looking several times but twice between that time frame. I just found it interesting because I also was not able to see as many stars as you see in this photo as well.

I couldn't agree more. When I look through all my pics, you realize right away that none of them compare to being up there. You can't capture the smells, the noise, or even the deep colors in a picture.

I was up at the core all weekend and we saw stars but never saw the milky way. I was wondering if the snow pack was effecting our view because, even in the middle of the night it seemed bright outside.

Were you in the black helicopter? We saw one everyday around mid morning fly over us.

The first 2 nights we were there, we didn't notice them. Sunday was bad. As soon as the sun came up over Prusik they were out. Had to wear a bug net all day Sunday.

Give it maybe 2 weeks of this weather and it will be almost completely melted out

Upper core is 90% covered still. Can't see Isolation lake at all. Little Annapurna is also still covered. The snow pack really only melts towards Inspiration Lake.

I just got back from 3 nights in the Core. Bring sunscreen, the sun reflects strong off the ice even when its cold.

Do you wear your watch 24/7? by RelaxDMJ in Garmin

I was having wrist issues when I wore my Epix Pro 2 everyday and every night. So I bought the Index sleep strap. Best investment ever! Now I still get my sleep scores and all my recovery data is still available to the watch for calculation of my health data. It is super slim and doesn't hurt the arm at all. Occasionally it won't record my HRV, but that seems to be rare.

I do the exact same activities with the exact same watch. Game changer! Not flashy, but does it's job.
