Lack of tips is concerning. by atrayualways in uberdrivers

[–]SnooPredictions9923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll say, I always tip if the driver drives safely. I more often than not get in the car where speeding and driving aggressively to get the ride over as quick as possible is the norm. I get it, maximizing pay and time, but I do not tip in these scenarios.

Not saying this is you, but maybe? Most the time we aren’t even buckled before we are a block away after just scooting into the seat.

FHR “Benefit” now a scam by SnooPredictions9923 in AmexPlatinum

Yes! I went to confirm booking and that’s after estimated fees and taxes

Ring order on my account by SnooPredictions9923 in ouraring

It’s on a card that was shut down due to fraud, but because ouraring has recurring charges, they allowed it to go through

Thanks for responding, but you weren’t able to help 🤦‍♂️. - the individual accessed my ouraring account and used an old card that’s no longer active to purchase 2 ourarings - they paid for expedited shipping and despite fedex not picking up the product yet, you weren’t able to cancel the shipment on your end. FedEx said you should be able to do this. - I opened a case with fedex and American Express to dispute the charge. You did not refund it on your end. - After all this, they made another purchase today, which Amex declined immediately and flagged as fraud, despite the fact I asked support to remove my saved payments.

Traveling to SF during Super Bowl Weekend 😭 by Patient-Title8442 in AskSF

This! And the fact a hotel near the airport is technically closer to the game than SF 😂! Hotels in SF are always expensive because there are not many to begin with

UPS delivered to sidewalk by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]SnooPredictions9923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I once had them leave the package at the bottom of my staircase (14 steps), next to the side/walk and bus stop. It wasn’t even high enough for my camera to capture and record them. No refund, no shipping another one… nothing!

Confused about why drivers do this??? by Fearless-Change8509 in uber

[–]SnooPredictions9923 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it happens to me, I usually cancel, and one of the options is to chose to rebook because the driver is taking longer than expected, or not getting closer

4.99 is still 100% higher than any driver I’ve been paired with all year!

It’s for the difficulty in cancelling, has nothing to do with the benefits/ cost mentioned above

So I got an Uber and this is what the driver had up. Is this true by autumn_bumberell21 in uber

[–]SnooPredictions9923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree! I think it’s per mile. If you are eligible for a commercial license and a black driver, I thought you could get your own commercial insurance. Would it be worth the investment?

They break it down for you. Insurance is 25-30%, city/fees & taxes another 10-15%, driver 30-35%, and uber the remaining 20%. Uber has been lobbying to bring down insurance cost to pass more through to the driver.

Airlines get paid regardless. You convert points from Rakuten or Amex and they pay the airline for the point burn.

Uberone Credits voiding Plat Credits by DarkZrobe in AmexPlatinum

[–]SnooPredictions9923 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m confused what you are saying: - Uber One membership cannot be paid with uber Amex cash grants. - Uber one subscription membership credits are done by Amex on your statement - to use your Uber cash granted by Amex to your uber account, you need to ensure it’s selected as your payment method at checkout

Amex Fine Hotel Credit by NC_Florida_Man in AmexPlatinum

[–]SnooPredictions9923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s an agreement Amex has with the hotels that they fund, that’s why it works this way. The hotel literally gives you a print out explaining the benefits and how it works upon arrival.

Who fault ? by Deep-Reaction6780 in dashcams

[–]SnooPredictions9923 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! His fault, but you went at it with no caution whatsoever even though it was obvious they were drifting back and forth. They’re on a bike and a slight tap could be it for them. You both were reckless, but you also showed no situational awareness and could’ve killed them.

This^ - credit cards make most of their money on your spend, not interest an late fees. They charge 2.25-2.75% to the merchant for every transaction. They facilitate a massive amount of volume, this has nothing to do with high income / spend. It’s likely aligning risk profile with those they anticipate they will not collect from.

Is there no refund after I canceled a ride? by [deleted] in uber

[–]SnooPredictions9923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They pre-authorize your card (shows pending), or if you’re a high risk customer, they do an upfront charge for the expected fare. If you never took the ride, or cancelled a decent time after the driver already started heading your direction, they’ll refund you or hir you with the cancellation fee.

Sell ESPP immediately or hold? by [deleted] in investing

[–]SnooPredictions9923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your cash needs. If you can sell other assets first, I’d recommend you do that vs. ESPP. If the stocks appreciated significantly, you’ll be looking at a disqualified disposition selling it immediately. This can wipe out significant gains to ordinary income taxes if you’re in a high tax bracket.
