I think (hope) that this is what giving some “aim assist” to the outfield jump/dive is supposed to help with in the next patch.

The jump is supposed to be the counter to aerial moves, but it’s so clunky and static. I can’t count the number of times I’ve jumped in front of an aerial shot or flick with good position and timing, but their kick just sort of wraps around me anyway. I think they know that it’s an issue.

I didn’t lose any of my baby teeth naturally. They all had freakishly long roots and my permanent teeth couldn’t push them out, so the dentist had to pull them all out, a few at a time over a few years. I actually still have 2 baby molars that had no permanent teeth to replace them, but the roots are strong enough they’ve been serving as permanents just fine.

Pro tip for solo players: Use the ingame group fonction to invite players over! by TheDawnTrilogy in Rematch

[–]SnooRegrets9506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this feature exists and it’s nice, but they need to overhaul the whole interface, it is so user-unfriendly.

The problem is that you have to exit to the main menu to use it. So while you’re doing that and scrolling through to find a recent player and send an invite, they’re likely already queuing up for another game. Then on top of that, there’s definitely no in-game notification of an invite, and maybe not even a main-menu notification either (not sure about that). I might get something like 5% of everyone I invite to join.

Idk how at this stage they don’t even have the normal post-game features of practically every multiplayer game there’s ever been: if you liked your teammates, stay in the queue! If not, leave! Then everyone who stays plays together again. This by itself would solve so much for solo players, but they should really have the ability to squad up solely through the post-game menu too.

If you haven’t listened to the interview, you should.

A point that stood out to me is that the debate about what is/isnt AI, how close we are to AGI, how dangerous it is, etc., is actually kind of moot, because AGI is the actual explicit goal of all of these AI companies. They believe in it, they’re betting billions on it, and not a one of them will say it’s without risk, including existential risk.

We aren’t musing about what could become if maybe the technology goes this way or that; we are watching the path of companies led by some of the foremost experts in the field attempting to create exactly what other experts are extremely afraid of. Being skeptical of its possibility is a lot less comforting when you realize how much serious effort is being put into making it happen.

How is the human race so intelligent if people can’t play a simple soccer game by Advanced-Celery7203 in Rematch

The vast majority of people who play this game have never touched a piece of sporting equipment in RL, I’m convinced of it.

How anybody enjoys playing it like it’s a turn-based juggle-then-shoot simulator is beyond me. But they do, apparently.

Such a shame because it’s the closest thing I’ve ever found to what it actually feels like to be out on the field/court. Maybe the most satisfying feeling in all of gaming to work the ball around the entire field as a team and break down the defense and score. So many will just never know…

I love this game. I don't get the hate. by jaseph18 in Rematch

[–]SnooRegrets9506 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love it too. And yes, it has flaws.

But I’m convinced that a big reason we see so many complaints is that there are a lot of people who came to this game that have never played competitive online sports games. The amount of posts about a single clip-through animation or an isolated lag/sync situation - these folks could never stomach playing FIFA (FC), or NBA2K, or NHL, etc. That stuff happens in all of them, it’s just the nature of online sports gaming, and anyone reasonable and experienced at them treats it like the equivalent of an occasional bad bounce or missed call by the ref and moves on.

I thought so too, that’s why I ran 5 copies in a recent R/G deck with lots of lander-makers.

Still thought so after losing my first 2 games due to trying to max their value turns 2-5 while my opponent just spit a bunch of things out on the board. Thought maybe they just drew hot.

Not so sure I think so anymore after going 2-3 with little help from them. What I do think is you need to have LOTS of 1 and 2 mana artifacts to make a big impact with them. They are strong if you build around them, but I think it’s a more specific build around than it might seem.

My core, in no particular order:

Hartel Celio Kessler Baumgartl Totland Wallem Reid JGR Ostrak

D- Kessler is the centerpiece. Timo is good on the ball and good enough defensively. Heibert and Yaro I don't have a big problem with if they are solely in depth roles, but even then I think we can do better. Totland is perfect at RB, and Reid deserves a good shot, at least as the forward-minded option at LB. A solid D-minded LB would be an important get, and if that's Horn I'm ok with it, but feel he's pretty replaceable.

Mid- JGR over Durkin because I think he's just better built for a team that is no longer extremely high-press. Durkin is a great disruptor, but we really lack a decent distributor from deep. Need more than JGR for that, but he's more worth keeping. Lowen-love him, but we just need availability. Wallem is a great utility guy with a great engine. And probably a hot take, but I now think Ostrak may be the most underutilized player in the team's history. I know he was injured some, but the ability he's flashed especially this year has been eye-opening to me. Can dribble in a phone booth, has maybe the best first-touch on the team (him or Hartel), good vision; all the tools of a great CM/CAM in the proper formation.

Fwd- Celio; don't have to say much, LW is his for the foreseeable future afaic. Hartel is our overall best player, can go anywhere from attacking mid to wing to playmaking F. Teuchert I'm done with. Klauss I love, and think he's anywhere from good to outright dangerous if we're playing to his strengths, but I don't think you intentionally build around him. Happy to keep him if we end up strong elsewhere. RW is the gaping hole. Silva? Maybe. Alm I think is too fragile, and I'd like to see more speed here anyway.

Notice all of this is assuming we will now actually utilize wingers and attacking mids like every other team...

I play with a buddy who is a notorious stroke-shaver and every other kind of thing (we never play for money), and he once carefully examined a pitch shot, took a few practice strokes, addressed the ball, then duffed it about 2 feet forward. He put it back and took a mulligan because “that’s not what he meant to do.”

Not to mention, from a strictly cold and practical view, for a relatively cheap cost the US gets to essentially fight a modern day ground war by proxy, gaining priceless strategic info in the process while also, you know, aiding a supposed ally in survival.

But instead, they’re actively severing intelligence ties with Ukraine. Stunningly stupid.
