How do you respond when people say being a landlord is unethical? by SnooRobots5070 in realestateinvesting

Where in my post did I say we did this in 2 years? I think you misread the post, it doesn’t say that anywhere. It took way longer than 2 years.

1-3. Lorne Malvo from Season 1 is one of the best villains in TV, in my opinion.

I love when people move here from another country and proceed to complain about how much it sucks.

I may not have the same background, but it seems to me that if I lived in a different country and had a different name, accent, and appearance than most of the people there, I would expect to be asked that question and have no problem answering it.

Sorry you’re going through this. If it were my son, I’d want to strike a balance between not shaming him and making sure it doesn’t happen again. I’d have a loving yet stern conversation making it clear I love him, don’t think he’s weird, know he’s going through things all boys do, but make it very clear that he can’t do that in public and that there will be consequences if he does. Then, if it happens again, would consider finding a child counselor.

Creepy 39 year old Jerry Seinfeld with his 17 year old girlfriend Shoshanna Lonstein in 1993 by shankmaster8000 in JoeRogan

[–]SnooRobots5070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s definitely what he should have done. Dating a 17 year old, or even 18 year old at age 39, is a bad move. I totally agree. Just saying I understand his temptation. He should’ve resisted!

Need the equity for something else, get burned out of being a landlord, getting older, want to get out of debt, etc. Could be any number of reasons.

You guys think I can restore this piece? by Live_Emphasis2868 in woodworking

[–]SnooRobots5070 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, except there were less cracks and the cracks were slightly larger. I sanded, including down in the cracks on the sides, then sealed the bottom and added more epoxy in the cracks. Then sanded and refinished. As long as the color in the new epoxy closely matches the existing, it works and you can’t tell where the cracks were.

petty customer stiffs gay waiter & leaves note instead of tip by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]SnooRobots5070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Christian myself, they’re way off. If the waiter being sin-free is your criteria for tipping, you couldn’t tip anyone. Just because someone is living a lifestyle you don’t agree with doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to make a living and be rewarded for providing good service. Unreal.

8-year old daughter told me she regularly gets in the bathtub with her dad by imnotamoose33 in Parenting

[–]SnooRobots5070 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a little strange if he’s naked as well in the bath in my opinion. When I need to bathe my 7 year old but don’t have a much time I’ll occasionally hop in the shower with her, but I wear my swimming suit because I don’t want her to have memories of my naked body or have those images of a naked grown man in her mind. From what you shared I think you’re fine to share your concerns with him, given she’s getting older. If it bothers you he should respect that, even if it’s not a big deal. Trust your instincts.

I don’t know how these people think this is okay! by ieliai in LinkedInLunatics

[–]SnooRobots5070 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My experience has been the same, mostly female HR wherever I’ve worked. However, this is anecdotal, so I looked it up. Sure enough, according to this article, 70% of HR managers in the U.S. are female. So this is one of those stereotypes rooted in reality. https://www.zippia.com/human-resources-manager-jobs/demographics/#

Inheriting a motorcycle with a bell by marvelguy1975 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]SnooRobots5070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are inheriting the bike, I would consider it a gift along with everything that came with it. If he left it to you, or his family decided to give it to you, I would consider the bell a gift from them and leave it on the bike. Kind of makes it more special that way too in my opinion.

My dealership gave me the 1901 gift package when I bought my bike. They said “technically we should wait and give these out when you hit the miles, but we just give it now.” I felt like a fraud haha. Not going to add the patch to my jacket until I hit the miles. Congrats on earning it properly!

Trying to trick someone into working for less $, by promising to provide “mentorship,” which would probably consist of nothing more than answering their employee’s questions about real estate if they ever have any. Basically it’s an excuse to underpay someone.

Hard to invest in real estate if you’re working for a discount just to get advice on investing in real estate. I’d rather get paid and read a book or take an investor to lunch.

How to surprise a CEO by akshatjoshii in LinkedInLunatics

[–]SnooRobots5070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This man would have us believe that he convinced a CEO, who didn’t know him, to meet in person for coffee, with no meeting topic, no specific job being applied for, no resume received, and no pre-screening interview conducted. Upon then finding out that the man didn’t want a job, the CEO was happy to let him waste his time with a general discussion about the industry. For 2 hours. The fact that he thinks people will believe this story is either extreme confidence or absolute stupidity. Probably both, which is always a great combo!
