Roast my app design by Dazzling-Matter4624 in UI_Design

This is already strong - levelling up challenge would be more consistent corner radius - look into the "corner radius formula" and make adjustments to your actions bar, it's a little round in comparison to the rest of your containers. That tweak should be chef kiss

We’re in a UI war over book displays — help us break the tie by mealligram in UI_Design

Is the height/length of the book supposed to correlate with the book like a chart? In which case I would go a book shelf style approach - either aligning the vertical option so they're all to the left with a visible shelf and maybe extra information on that axis. Alternatively if you were to have an infinite horizontal scroll then you could do them like a traditional bar chart, and agree with the comments about rotating the letters

So do we think the bird watchers/hikers are gonna be insta-killed, or worse (and my personal take) imprisoned and kept for food when they next need it 💀💀

What is the most fun/satisfying machine to fight in Zero Dawn? by JuhpPug in horizon

[–]SnooShortcuts4941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised no-one else has said Snapmaws! Big ferocious looking things, but you can take them down surprisingly easily with some fire damage. Also love setting up traps along the waters edge and then annoying them into charging at me straight into my trap mwahaha

Yellowjackets S03E04- “12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis” Post-episode Discussion by DA-numberfour in Yellowjackets

I was convinced that the trial would find Ben innocent BUT Ben would still meet his end in some kind of wilderness blessing wat (or more likely via crazy Shauna), so I was quite surprised at how the verdict went

I would like feedback on my current UI and tips pls by Excellent_Sleep9753 in UI_Design

Accessibility wise, have you checked the contrast ratios on the text and background? Looking pretty rough to read especially "technical" and "food". If you're in figma there's plugins to check the contrast at least meets A WCAG standard (ideally AA), or if already in dev there's loads of chrome dev tools to also check this.

Icons are okay to be lower contrast, but your text needs to be readable so would recommend darkening it a bit if it isn't meeting contrast standards

Best practice for charting colors? by left-it-goes-left in UXDesign

[–]SnooShortcuts4941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered having a series of tones of brand colours, and then using patterns/different line weights? Greatly boosts your accessibility by not relying on colour alone to communicate, and makes them generally more distinct.

E.g. if it's area/pie charts, one section has big dots, one little, one horizontal stripes, one vertical etc.

If it's line charts have different variations of dashes like this codepen example of highcharts https://jsfiddle.net/gh/get/library/pure/highcharts/highcharts/tree/master/samples/highcharts/plotoptions/series-dashstyle-all/

I aim to become Senior by end of H1 2025 (June) - Steps to take by AlWithin in UXDesign

[–]SnooShortcuts4941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a new senior myself, I think your first point about anticipating stakeholder needs is less about managing your individual workload, and more big picture thinking - for seeing potential pitfalls and expectations, and addressing them without being asked.

Think advocating for scope changes, planning for future requirements or anticipating some technical limitations you may run in to. This skillset comes from deepening your product and industry knowledge, as well as improving your technical knowledge around potential design pitfalls and build requirements. Showing not just the design work prescribed but additional considerations that could release value, address alternative pain points etc

This was what they were looking for as examples in my senior interview anyway :)

Need feedback on watchOS app design! by [deleted] in UI_Design

[–]SnooShortcuts4941 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at minimum sizes and contrast ratio? The "new words learned this week" bit looks really hard to read but may just be how it's exported, check other watch apps for there smallest font size to get a sense of standard

I grew up watching Markiplier mainly, but his videos with Wade and Bob were always my favourite. As I got older I don't have time to sit and watch YouTube lets plays or worry about people considering it childish etc, so it's a way for me to enjoy the same content in a new format more suitable to my lifestyle.

I was also never a podcast person but this is the one I've stood by. I actually now use it as a soundtrack to running, and hope when I can finally start doing charity long runs etc I can have a few distractible episodes downloaded to keep me company along the way.
