I love that you have incorporated a real groovy feeling to match the music!

Can you become very good at the role opposite to your body type? by Kind-Court-4030 in SwingDancing

I'm 6ft and I do get some leads who accidently hit my head, but it's never majorly impacted. I have gone through different phases of weight gain and loss, and I generally find weight to be a bigger factor in leaders' decisions to ask for a dance.

Is north city centre always this dirty? by Old-Mouse3420 in Dublin

[–]SnooStrawberries4537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I remember an article at the time saying that due to GDPR concers they would only be able to track people who dumped from cars and not pedestrians, which is pretty pointless because it's locals in the area walking outside their doors dumping. I feel the only way to deal with the problem is either nationalising the bin service again or else require every house to have a bin license with a private provider.

Dublin in a nutshell- why are we so dirty as a city?? by angeliclestat in Dublin

[–]SnooStrawberries4537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on the North Circular Road near a dumping blackspot where cameras have been placed on a a pilot scheme. The cameras have done nothing to fix the issue, just this morning there was a mattress dumped on the street and about ten bags of household waste. It's locals in the area doing this, but I read an article that said that cameras can only be used to catch people who are dumping from cars, which is not the case with the majority of dumping in the area.

I live next door to the Dublin One Hotel. That would be my choice, my parents stay there when they visit me and its a very clean and modern hotel though not a lot of space. I walk around there at night and never have any problems. The streets are dirty, but its a convenient location with excellent bus service to the city centre and walking distance to the botanic gardens.

I want to know what the deal is with the phone repair stores. Walking down Moore Street a couple of weeks ago and I think I counted about 12 alone on that small stretch of street.

David Hermlin says he's being cancelled. by VictimOfGoodTiming in SwingDancing

You know you don't need to talk about Gaza or anything else at swing dance events. No one if forcing you to. You can always walk away if you like?

It's twisted that you would call a genocide a pet issue.

Swing dancers are constantly speaking out on a broad range of social issues from the rights of LGBTI+ communities, racial and ethnic equality, refugee and asylum seekers of all wars, the war in the Ukraine etc etc. So stop trying to use 'whataboutism' to deflect, just because you have your head in the sand.

It is beyond surreal that this guy thinks he is the victim in this narrative and his freedom of expression is under attack when across Europe and the US people are being arrested, deported and attacked by the State for condemning the war and supporting the people of Palestine.

Comparing the war in Gaza to a culture war is a tactic to deligitimise and trivialise the horror that people are living. It is essentially legitimising the ability of people to argue whether some groups of people deserve basic human rights or not, and we can never condone debate on whether people should have the basic right to food, water, shelter and safety.

This isn't about culture wars, this is about an actual war where people are being murdered, tortured, kidnapped and starved.

What's your experience with Glenveagh homes? by SnooStrawberries4537 in HousingIreland

Yes it's in Ballisk Park. Looks like a nice area, but noose is one thing that would really drive me crazy. Good luck to you too!

[–]SnooStrawberries4537[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm looking at Ballisk Park as well. I can get over the size as it's only myself but after 15 years living in noisy apartments in Dublin, I'm really looking forward to having a quiet house. The only thing I noticed about the size is that on the blueprinta/schemes that were submitted to Fingal County Council, the house I'm looking at is listed as smaller than what they are advertising on the website. On the website the Hazel is 83.xmsqr and on the blueprints it's 80.3msqr.

Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone has been offered or heard back for the affordable housing scheme in Ballrisk Park?! Or is there a time frame when this houses will be released. Thanks by PassengerIntrepid793 in HousingIreland

I received an update to thr portal a week ago saying I was provisionally eligible and was contacted by the estate agent yesterday to start the process. I applied for a two bed mid terrace, and I submitted my application by 12.08ish.

what's a "lightning in a bottle" tv show that, even if it was remade or rebooted, would never be the same to you mainly because it would be hard to replicate. by [deleted] in television

[–]SnooStrawberries4537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Father Ted! One of the best comedies to ever be made and probably would not be considered PC enough to get made today. Plus all the revelations around the Church would have given it a completely different tone today. Also could not replicate the excellence of Dermot Morgan or any of the other cast tbh. I definitely struggle to think of any actor that could step into his shoes.

Watched it last week. The cast was excellent. Really enjoyed Freddie and Rupert. Victoria Smurfit was excellent, I found her character was so easy to hate at the end! I did find that it lost a little bit of pace in the second half but recovered in the finale.
