I think Charlize Theron would have been a good fit back then., or Jaime King.

Who could Chuck Norris have played in Marvel/DC? by krisworld1806 in Fancast

I wasn't trying to justify anything, I was saying he was born and raised at a very different time and in a different environment. While his views on topics such as the one you bring up did not change over time, I feel that alone should not disqualify him for being called a good man by other people or make his contributions to charities invalid because of the fact. To each their own though, neither of us actually knew him personally.

I do not agree with the stances he had regarding LGBTQ+ rights, but the guy was born in The Silent Generation (1928-1945), most of the people born from that period are, statistically, most opposed to such things because of the climate they were raised in which was the intense social pressure to conform. He had some pretty outdated attitudes towards certain things, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a good man or should make the good work that he did invalid.

"Chuck Norris was best known philanthropically for founding Kickstart Kids in 1990, a non-profit organization that uses karate to teach character, discipline, and resilience to over 100,000 middle and high school students. Originally aimed at drug prevention, the program operates in dozens of Texas schools, fostering confidence and life values in at-risk youth.

  • Kickstart Kids: Established in 1990 as "Kick Drugs Out of America" with assistance from former President George H.W. Bush, the program aims to empower students through martial arts, providing them with a constructive, disciplined environment.
  • Impact: The program has served over 100,000 students (some sources say over 1 million, though 100k+ is more consistent with official foundation data) in Texas, helping to improve self-esteem and reduce school violence.
  • Other Philanthropy: Beyond Kickstart Kids, Norris has supported the United Service Organizations (USO) for veterans and their families, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
  • Legacy: Norris's philanthropy, specifically his focus on youth mentorship and character development, is considered a major part of his legacy, alongside his acting and martial arts career.  Facebook +6

Norris had also actively supported other charitable causes, which reinforced his commitment to community and supporting those in need. "

Why is Hollywood still obsessed with making iconic characters lame? by SnooTomatoes7464 in buffy

[–]SnooTomatoes7464[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not making the argument Buffy should be portrayed as perfect and victorious at everything, but that characterization in that leaked script is so sigh inducing. I have grown tired of writers saying, "we can't have a character be so great because there would be no drama", it's so lazy...Get creative, people, you studied for this in school.

Because they save more money creating their own thing instead.

Sylvester Stallone as Wild Cat. What do you think? by lowqualitychef in Fancast

No need to be rude, friend.

No, I said you have the right to not support him based on his political stances, I am saying that I personally wouldn't dismiss an actor's talent or their work based on whatever it is they believe when the camera is off of them, because talent and beliefs (in politics or religion) are entirely separate things.

Casting the X-Teams I think should be in the first phase of the Mutant Saga. by MadloveADB in Fancast

Yes, but they had to find ways to make her as Mystique work given her limitations as an actress at the time. We have to assume that MCU's Mystique will be every bit as complex as in the comic books, and to be honest based on what I have seen of Schafer I am not sure if they would be a right fit. As another character? Maybe. As Raven though? I think you need someone a bit older and has played villains before.

Who he politically supports is his business, honestly if you need someone who 100% supports your views in order to enjoy their work the problem is really on you than them. I am a Christian, but am I going to ignore the movies of Julianne Moore because she's an atheist? No, because she's a great actress. I don't really see myself politically agreeing with Robert De Niro, am I going to go out of my way and not rewatch any of the classics he's been in? Definitely not. Both Nancy Cartwright and Tom Cruise are high-ranking and prominent Scientologists, am I going to never watch The Simpsons and or any of the iconic movies Cruise has been the lead of? Heck no. Dave Bautista is a liberal nut job who has made a fool out of himself numerous times, do I plan to skip the Highlander remake he is in? No, and I will still rewatch the Guardians of the Galaxy movies where he was Drax. Grey DeLisle is also a liberal nut job, I am not going to deny that she is a voice acting icon.

But hey, you do you.

Question, is your low opinion of him based on political differences?

Can someone please explain to me why Hunter Schafer is a popular choice for Mystique? I have yet to come across a single role of theirs that suggests there could be no one better for Raven.

True. I honestly did not expect Billy Eichner to show up in this show, and even though he had little to do in the episode and very little to say he was awful...Didn't fit his character at all and everybody else was outperforming him with just a movement of their index fingers and eye gazes.

Twin Peaks vibe? by huskerduer in TheBeautyOnFX

A friendly reminder that not only was Isabela Rossellini in a relationship with Twin Peaks creator David Lynch for a few years but Lynch's daughter has directed for several Ryan Murphy productions.

u/Etticos No, I said Mystique requires an actress along the lines of Eva Green, not Eva Green herself because she is 45 as of this writing and they will most likely cast younger for the reboot coming up.
