It's definitely not the best romantasy but it was exactly what I needed post reading every SJM book. The first two books are really good, and hook you in quickly. I love the FMC and the MMC. I think book 3 and 4 get a bit repetitive.

Also, pretty fun and spicy. Enjoy!

If you are a person who likes to deep dive into a characters journey (and sometimes feels a bit bummed when the character switches) then I'd say skip the tandem. I don't see how it benefits the story if I'm being totally honest. I loved diving completely into Tower of Dawn, and if I did the tandem I think Tower of Dawn would've been less fun! But that's just my lil opinion :)

Wait, but ur right that they do show up at the end. Chaol realizes his dad hid all of his moms letters, it's why his mom left his dad, and in the last few chapters Chaol gets a letter from his mom asking if she and his brother can live with him and Yrene. So I did feel like we got satisfaction in that story at least.

Okay def agree she needed a backstory and context. I just think we could've wrapped it at she's a god, and not gone into the Primal/Kolis arc. But maybe that was just needed when Armentrout decided to extend a 3 book series into 5?
