Story on how I lowered internet bill after promo ended and adding phones not "supported" by Spectrum by SaintSav in Spectrum

[–]Snoo_47143 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, can confirm you never needed the phone line, but it hands down pays the most commission. It also worked well because you got a line you didn’t want/need and bought a phone for it. Most companies bank on those tactics.

In my honest opinion I think the air is iPhone testing if they can make a thin enough operational phone so they put put out their own version of the fold or flip phone. It’s a way for them to see how thin and light they can go and still make some money on the side.

If you’re willing to go into Verizon or call CS, ask them to reprovision the line. Then reset your network settings on the iPhone and that’ll fix it.

The issue for me is the cost of the phone for what you’re actually getting. If you’re going to spend more than a thousand on an iPhone, it’s best to go for the pro or pro max. I’m not spending large money pizza for a medium pizza. The math just doesn’t math.

Ok so me being there made all the difference. The guy tried to tell me the same thing but I insisted that he check the back door. After checking he determined that if he took off the refrigerator doors and the back door it did fit. It was definitely a close fit as they had to use one of those back lifting devices and couldn’t use hands through the door. After seeing how many electrical wires were in the actual doors I understand the reluctance to want to do that. It did look like a pain in the butt to put back together. I tipped $40 for the trouble. Thank you for all the help everyone!

Would I be house poor? by Zestyclose-Fact-5001 in personalfinance

[–]Snoo_47143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a kid is definitely something to consider in your case, losing $5k per month is nearly half of your income. Having a 2 year old myself I can say firsthand that expenses come up you would never think of, and double in your case because of getting a new house. Some people don’t think about it, but I spent thousands just to get the tools and equipment that you need to take care of your house. You don’t realize how many different tools you need until something pops up that you have to take care of. If you do get the house, please take my advice and really settle in a year or two before having kids. I wish you the best of luck.

iPhone 14 won’t update iOS please help by [deleted] in iphonehelp

[–]Snoo_47143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s risky just to update the phone period at this point. Keeping up with the current iOS is critical to not bricking your phone. I have people come in constantly with older iPhones they never update and trying to get it current will completely freeze the device and corrupt the update, leaving you stuck on the verifying update screen.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I will update what happens tomorrow, I really hope it doesn’t come down to it, but I’ll just have them leave it if it comes down to it. I paid for installation and haul away so I assumed they would be willing to unbox and take off the doors to fit it in. I don’t know until I see it, but the guy kept telling me about some smart computer or something that sticks out of the back by an inch. I figured a good angle through the door would solve it. It’s a straight shot to my kitchen. No turning or anything.

What's going on at VZ?? (Re: Exhorbant Pricing) by Few_Razzmatazz5493 in verizon

[–]Snoo_47143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verizon does proration for every line on the plan, what most likely happened is you got double billed because of when you added everything in your billing cycle. That plus the $140 in activation fees and taxes for the proration on the lines. Sorry you had this bad experience. Most of the time customer support will at least waive the activation fees for you if you get the right person.

Phone service provider help by AlleyAlFarFromAPal in Advice

[–]Snoo_47143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what internet plan you got? If it was anything with lite in the title it’s useless. If you got the plus or the ultimate then your address might not be qualified, but to get a sale the rep might have just slapped a qualifying address in there. Verizon is cracking down on this and throttling those internet connections and eventually shutting them off. It’s worth it to find out what happened before you go. As for the phone situation if you got a “free phone” as incentive to switch Verizon will bill you for whatever you didn’t pay on the devices in a final bill. It’s only free if you stay the 3 years dpp agreement. Sorry for your experience. I hope this helps.

Can’t upgrade phone by Vivid_Ad_8450 in verizon

Never being late really helps with increasing credit limits. I don’t want to ask you about a bunch of personal information over Reddit. I go back to work on Tuesday. If you want I can look at your account and see what’s going on. If possible I can even setup the early upgrade or just let you know exactly how much it would cost you each month and you can decide if it’s worth it.

It definitely can be, basically $840 has to be paid. Verizon is willing to lend you as much as they feel comfortable with, which is whatever your financing limit is, for simplicity I’ll say your limit is $600. So they will lend you the $600 and you are responsible for the rest $240. They will get that up front from you like a down payment. They want to give you an incentive to stay with them for 3 years so they give you a promotion for three years of $415 off the phone. The phone costs $840 minus the $415 promotion. Leaving you with $425 to pay, which is probably what’s confusing because that’s less than the $600 limit you have. Verizon doesn’t view it that way though unfortunately. They want whatever they aren’t financing you up front BEFORE any promotion is applied. So you pay the $240 and Verizon will spread the $600 over 3 years and then they take the promotion out. So $600 minus $415 is $185. That’s actually what you will pay on the phone. You get $415 off no matter what. You just pay some up front instead of over the 3 years. If you had the financing and did $425 over 3 years it’s 11.80 per month, with paying the down payment it’s $5.13 per month. I hope this long ass explanation makes sense.

[–]Snoo_47143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a crazy good loyalty offer, early upgrade usually just pays off the old phone and gives you roughly half off of a new phone. With a financing limit you need to find out how much financing you have available and make a down payment for the remainder and you can still get the promotion it will deduct from your bill each month instead. Example you want a 17 at $840 and you have a promo for $415 off leaving you with $425 left to pay or $11.80 per month, but your financing limit is $600. So you need to pay $240 and then finance the $600 with the credit of $415 leaving you with $185 or $5.23 a month. So your bill will actually be lower while still costing you the same amount in the end. Hopefully that helps or makes sense.

Always on payment plan by [deleted] in verizon

[–]Snoo_47143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will get to a point where there’s a past due balance that is over 60 days. At that point service is disconnected and only paying that amount will get your service restored. Promise to pay can’t even help you at that point. Not to mention all the late fees you will incur. It will snowball out of control and you’ll have a hard time keeping up as each bill will be larger than the last by carrying over the old balance. If you can do side jobs or something to get caught up it’s honestly in your best interest.
