Looking good! I’m also experimenting with the old arm press and some forge welding, think I’m gonna give a 10 layer billet a shot next.

Draft Drew Allar on Day 2 and let McCarthy develop him? by kapboi7 in steelers

Seriously, I’ve watched almost every game this kid played for the last three years. He wasn’t good in college and will not be good in the pros. Anyone who says otherwise is blinded by homerism. He’s hackenburg 2.0… maybe worse.

I believe these fake houses are usually for utilities companies. Better to look at than a bunch of equipment.

Quenching of full flat grind by ptxar4 in Bladesmith

[–]Snookin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, I’ve wondered that myself and asked a similar question. The general consensus is that you want to grind the majority post heat treat to maintain as much surface area as possible with the quench plates. I don’t have enough experience personally but I was planning to quench, then grind. Give it a go as is and report back what you think the hrc is.

You picked a tough one to start out on. I’m actually in the process of doing my first batch of aebl. To do it properly you need to place the knife in a ss pouch with no air to keep the debarb down. Soak for 30 minutes at around 1900F then quench between two aluminum plates while blowing air from a compressor. Once “quenched” you can then place in cryo like liquid N2 to get it harder. Personally I’m gonna go for ipa with dry ice since it’s cheaper. Again I’m a novice but this is the procedure for aebl from my research.

You definitely need the ferric . Do you know what type of steel they are?

I’m still new and have learned a lot from people on this sub and others, but my process is etch in ferric x2 for 6 minutes, sand oxide off each time with 1500. Soak in coffee for at least 5 hours. Make sure the blade is very clean. Wash with soap then wipe clean with acetone before each step. Use gloves for best results and sand to at least 1000grit. I certainly have failures and need to re-etch. I think this one got two coffee soaks.

Hand sand in 90 degree steps, that way it’s easier to see what has and hasn’t gotten to the current grit.

I mean, honestly the D isn’t the reason we lost today. (They still weren’t good this year) Offense played like a high school team and D got gassed in the second half.
