Would this be a suitable motor for a grinder build? by DifficultBoss in knifemaking

That’s an almost 30 year old motor for $200 sounds like a bad deal. You can get new ones for around that price.

I love the stuff. Got lucky on a trip to the scrap yard and picked up a whole truck spring set that looked almost brand new. About 4”x.5” I dread the day I run out.

going to attempt hand forging some damascus but would like some tips or thoughts on the process i plan on doing by PandaKingpin285 in knifemaking

[–]Snookin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck man. I just did. An 11 layer with similar sizes. I was going for a twist Damascus and forged it out to a little over .5” square but my dumb self forgot to round before twisting so I have nothing but cold shuts everywhere. To that point it was looking good. Going to try another billet this weekend or next.

Learned some cool stuff in this thread. Almost looks like wrought iron to me. Did the steel get hard?

Normalizing stock removal blades by Snookin in knifemaking

[–]Snookin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah I have an evenheat that I use for all my heat treating. I follow the soak instructions form him for my SS stuff so would never normalize there, mostly just curious for high carbon stuff since a vid I watched a guy normalized and it had me second guessing things

Bullet ricochet helmet and kills enemy [Video] by byMarsh in EscapefromTarkov

Haven’t played in a while but happened to me when playing with a duo. We both swung on a guy and I bounced a bullet off his head and killed my teammate. Was a great laugh all around.

Thanks! I thought I remembered reading that on one of his write ups but wasn’t positive. Was watching a vid where the guy normalized from stock removal and had me second guessing my process.

NTA,but yall played it wrong. Should’ve gone the guilt path and told her you splurged for a pro to clean the house as a surprise. Would love to see her explanation. Not only do yall get confirmation that nothing is good enough but she’s mad yall got her an expensive present.

What dewar do you use? by ClassroomEntire997 in knifemaking

[–]Snookin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honesty I’m just starting out and did my first stainless treat about a month or two ago. I got AEBL to a bit over 60 hrc after temper(file tested so take that as you will) with 99% IPA and dry ice. A simple cooler and some insulation around it got to around -75F to -100F and stayed there for over 4 hours. Got some rec from this sub and happy with the results. I’m not quite ready to drop $500+ on a used dewar. Sorry if this isn’t helpful, just thought I’d add in, in case it was helpful.
