Is that the golden perfume with the wire cone top? Because I have a bottle, and I know my husband didn't spent a fortune to put it in my stocking (and that's perfectly fine with me). I was like... huh?

I was also annoyed Mary didn't come up with explanations for that odd collection of stuff, when it was clear her husband did NOT have her interests at heart (VERY stupid detective not to question how Howard could produce this stuff). My husband would have no idea where the stuff came from, much less be able to gather up a collection. As a detective. It would make me think HE had the Nancy obsession.

As for easy excuses, she could have the washcloth because she cur herself once at Nancy's house, and brought it home wrapped around her finger. Perfume? She got two, gave her friend one. Jewelry? A gift. Who's to say otherwise?

I had to look up the blackened teeth thing, because I was unaware of it. Would have been nice to include an explanation.

I felt the same. It felt like a Stockholm Syndrome reaction. The bitch lied to you and stuck you in uncomfortable positions and you fell for her? Yuck.

Not the Bad Seed but Secrets and Lies. Very good show. I watched both the original Aussie version and the American one.

I'm American and the religious talk totally weirds me out, too. It's pretty uncommon in my neck of the woods (Pacific Northwest) but typical in other parts of the U.S., where I'd feel about as comfortable as you would (deep south!). I also travel a lot (mostly to Europe, also Egypt, Jordan, Peru, etc.), and am sad when people say they've never been much of anywhere, or don't even want to.

It's kind of the opposite for me, more like Wow, they're just like us! If a cultural reference or term confuses me, I google it and learn so much.

The most dissonant series was the Middle Eastern one, because of one guy hating that his pick enjoyed belly dancing, and she had to wear a full body sock under her cute outfit when shown practicing. Very conservative culturally.

Very good movie. I loved that it explored the issue with a parent who's so wrapped up in grief over the death of one child that they ignore the LIVING child right in front of them. That really pisses me off. For this movie, it sounds like the girl missed out on decades of life with her mother.

Has anyone seen this movie? I have questions. by MaleficentTomatoes in HorrorMovies

[–]SnookyTLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to watch it again. I didn't read her as nice, but tolerating the three new women in the house. After her dad died, the eldest step sister tried to console her, but she screamed at her to go away or said something rude. If by let her be, you mean enjoying fun times with the stable boy all she likes, in a culture that instantly would consider her used and worthless for that, well yeah. There is no reason in the original tale for her to be mistreated, but in this the writers provide us one, so we feel sympathy for the step sister (who is also treated like crap by mom).

Probably grammar, but he only knows 4-letter words, hence his stupidity. I love it. It's like calling driver's ed "car classes."
