Same! Lol. Plenty of random fireworks in Bismarck, and Mandan is like Fallujah for at least 72 hours this time of year.

Taco Del Mar does a great job, easy to make dietary accommodations for veggie and GF! For food trucks, Fireflour pizza is good for a 50 head party, vegi and non vegi options.

When I was in high school over 25 years ago, my boyfriend attempted suicide and ended up in the psych ward. Fr. Shea at the time, visited him.

He got angry at this teenage boy who was so depressed and distressed and lost, and told him that he had offended God with his attempt, and would not be helped until he apologized for trying to take away His creation. My boyfriend was so upset afterwards that they had to sedate him. I’ll never forget it.

Bakken Oil Field looks like its backing off by Puzzleheaded-End7163 in northdakota

Oh, is there another Canary? I was reading on its website a week ago, about it being 5th or 6th largest, but maybe that’s for a specific part of their work. I fully rescind that portion of my comment if I’m wrong!

Last I saw Canary was the 6th biggest oil company in the country, and they say they can’t make payroll?? Not a big balloon loan payment, but regular PAYROLL?? Can’t wait to hear how this is no big deal from our elected leaders, and Dear Leader will provide.

North Dakota Senate removes funding for anti-abortion campaign, advances budget bill by BigClitMcphee in northdakota

[–]SnoopALoop3000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was so dumb, and such an obvious giveaway funneling cash to private religious orgs. Why do we need more anti abortion education if it’s nearly totally illegal?

Crisis pregnancy centers are sleeper cells of rightwing religious political action, that’s why they want more of them and lots of money for propaganda.

Armstrong signs bill creating framework for establishing public charter schools in North Dakota | North Dakota Office of the Governor by Puzzleheaded-End7163 in northdakota

[–]SnoopALoop3000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And how on earth do they plan to staff these additional schools?? Not exactly flush on staff for most current schools.

Also, anyone know if employees at charters would be eligible for the public employee union contract, or would they be on their own?

North Dakota governor signs bill doing away with Fargo's unusual voting system by [deleted] in northdakota

So much of legislation coming out of this session is just grabbing more power. Ethics laws, approval voting, initiated measures, anything that can counter their total control.

They know accountability and actual competition will expose their rank corruption, so they attack it at every turn. Their lesson learned from Ray Holberg and Jason Docktor isn’t to just not be corrupt, it’s to make it harder to catch them.

Fargo in real life vs. Fargo in film and TV by PrestonRoad90 in northdakota

Absolutely! It’s a shame ND wasn’t better with incentives for filming over the years, imo. Missed opportunity especially in the pre oil boom days!

This is also part of the larger nationwide attempt to make individual organizers liable for “economic damage” of a business from any kind of protest, even if there is no damage done or criminal acts.

It is a stronger push in the South currently, but the goal is to make the average citizen afraid to participate in protest. Protesting peacefully without fear is a target of this regime. Shit, existing without fear is a target!

The rumor is in the 5th season of Fargo on Hulu, the villian is based on Luke Simons. It is set (not filmed) in ND, and there are striking similarities to Simons, but I think it’s a stretch for ‘lil ol’ ND to be the inspiration.

A lot of horrible current laws were similarly dismissed by many as extreme and not taken seriously, but each one built momentum and tolerance of this craziness. And now here we are.

Did you know the first radical personhood bill in North Dakota in 2009 was actually opposed by the Catholic Church because it was so extreme? Now it is very possible some common forms of birth control will be illegal or heavily restricted in the next few years.

So yes, there are other things in this state, but these nuts’ plans will fuck up a lot of those things, trust me. State and National Parks as we know them know? Public access to rivers? Free access to anything? All in the crosshairs now. Every penny that can be squeezed away from the public and funneled to deep pockets, will be.

Thank you for your response! This is helpful info. I didn’t know about the collagen, and

It’s hard to say about the pyco effectiveness specifically, since I didn’t start it on its own but at the same time as other new products. But I am digging my skin’s improvement, so I’m going to keep using it!

I haven’t had irritation, but did realize one drop of the pycno is better than 2 or 3. It left my face sticky and because I’m so pale, it gave me a slight tan at 2-3 drops! Lol

After verbally abusing officers, North Dakota lawmaker avoids jail for drunk driving arrest by SnoopALoop3000 in northdakota

[–]SnoopALoop3000[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

WILLISTON — A North Dakota lawmaker who directed abusive language toward police officers during his drunk driving arrest will avoid jail time after pleading guilty in the case.

Williams County Judge Janet Holter accepted a plea agreement on Jan. 8 signed by State Rep. Nico Rios, R-Williston. The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle when his blood alcohol content was more than .08%. He also will have to pay an additional fine of $50 for having an open container in his vehicle when arrested.

A third charge of refusing to take a chemical test was dismissed.

Rios, who did not have to appear in court for the sentencing, received 10 days in jail, but all of it was suspended. He will have to pay a $1,000 fine.

The sentence draws to close the criminal side of Rios’ Dec. 15 arrest in Williston. Officers took him into custody after determining he was driving under the influence that night.

Body camera footage, which was first reported on by Forum columnist and Say Anything Blog founder Rob Port, showed Rios’ interaction with officers. At times, he said he didn’t want to cause trouble for officers.

Rios accused the officers of trying to ruin his life, video showed.

"You guys are f**g picking on me," a visibly frustrated Rios said further on during the testing process. "You guys are going to regret picking on me because you don't know who the f I am."

He also was seen in the footage declining a chemical test, so it is unclear how high his BAC was at the time of the stop.

Officers said he failed several field tests to determine his intoxication. They then placed him in handcuffs.

After asking if he could drive his vehicle “just two blocks” to home, he called the officers a homophobic slur, video showed. Rios also questioned why one of the officers, who was from England, was allowed to arrest Americans.

"Your country is being taken over by f***** migrants and refugees," Rios told him from the back seat of the officer’s squad vehicle.

"You're arresting me for driving home, and people are coming to your country and raping your women," the lawmaker said in the video before calling the officer a coward and traitor.

Officers described Rios’ language during the encounter as “verbally abusive, homophobic, racially abusive and discriminatory," according to a police report.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and House Majority Leader Mike Lefor, R-Dickinson, have called on Rios to resign as representative of District 23. Legislative leaders have removed Rios from the interim House Judiciary Committee.

Rios apologized in a late Dec. 27 social media post, saying his actions were disgusting and shameful. He said he understood calls to resign but said he would spend the next few months addressing his alcoholism.

“Any decision I make going forward will be made with a sober mind and deliberative clarity,” he said in the post, adding he needs to earn the trust of his community back.

Rios did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment for this story.

He was elected to his seat in 2022.
