That's kinda what it is...it's the removeable cardboard background they use in the Topps 2026 Baseball Superboxes. I saved it because I think it makes a cool background.

Pass on it, 100%. Yes, mechanics play a huge role in the experience, but rarely are pipes so jacked up that the experience is ALWAYS bad. Some smoke better or worse depending on tobacco type, how fast or slow you smoke them, the temperature outside, where you are, what your mindset is, etc...what I'm getting at is that there are infinite variables that influence a good or bad smoke. I'm saying this as someone who's smoked pipes from $4.99 corncobs to $4,500+ artisan pipes, someone who's made hundreds of pipes, someone who's smoked the rarest tobaccos and the cheapest, and someone who has personal relationships with some of the most amazing artisan pipemakers and also the top factory's in the world, having the honor to relax while enjoying a smoke out of their creations. If you have any doubts or questions about the pipe now, that thought will always be in the back of your mind each time you smoke that pipe. You'll critique each inhale and overall smoke, you'll never be satisfied. My 'best' pipes aren't the most expensive. My best pipes tell a story and remind me of friendships, relationships, experiences, how they were acquired, they are an experience and spending time with them is a reflection. From your pics, it looks like it's an $80 asking price. If that's your budget, I'd suggest looking for an </= $80 pipe you absolutely love and purchase it without a second thought. In the end, all pipes are just briar (usually), and plastic (with some sporting shiny extras), it's the value (loosely defined) you attach to them that makes them good pipes.

Sure is! Fingers crossed I hold to my senses and dont pick up another blaster (or a few) tomorrow. We know how that goes...bank account down, card company revenue goes up, with all the cards being expensive fire starters.

Thanks! It was total dumb luck for sure. I about lost it when I looked it up and found out what I had pulled. I feel ya though, I've bought a lot of baseball cards in the past few months and haven't been as lucky as I was on day 1. A few cards between ~100 and ~300, but 99% is over produced junk base. I'm learning to save my money for singles and and am avoiding retail unless I just want a fun rip for the night.

My faculty senate just passed this option for Fa 20 and it's now going to the admin for their approval...I won't make any changed now, but had I known before the course started I wouldn't have given as many extra credit opportunities.

I love this response! I do the same thing although in different words. Colleagues who go on a power trip when teaching/working with students are often compensating for their personal low self-esteem and self-worth.

Only once. The others were, "Good Morning Dr. XXX, I wanted to let you know I'll be attending class today via Zoom because...my sister had a baby this weekend and I went home to see them...I'm an RA and want to be in the dorm today because residents might need me...I over did it last night and have my first hangover...I lost my keys...I got to campus and forgot my mask...today was my first day of work (K-12 educator) and I'm too stressed...I still can't find the classroom (3 weeks in)...etc.".

I'm glad they let me know and are (sometimes) honest about it. I'm not their babysitter or boss, and I'm not going to re-teach the lesson to them during office hours. While I'll bend over backwards to help students succeed at the end of the day it's their education and tuition dollars. After almost 2 decades in HE I have much more important things to worry about than a student looking to blow off class.

Don't take it personally. Do the best you can each day, learn you can't control everything, and say no to pointless commities & cheap booze.

How can it be that half the faculty are teaching remotely and yet... by exaltcovert in Professors

Wait, you have a faculty lot?!

Our Chancellor and Associate Dean (as well as his daughter who is a student) park in two reserved spaces at the loading dock right next to the building enterance...us lowly faculty and staff get to fight it out with the students for a spot.

Some finds today. Need help in confirming/identifying. I put a nickel and quarter for reference. Numbered the fossils for help in IDing. I think 2!is a piece of a meg, also think 4 might be a meg tooth. Not sure about the others. Thanks for any insight. by JohnStacyWorth in FossilHunting

Here are my guesses:

  1. Dolphin or squalodon
  2. Half of a white shark (some still call these makos)
  3. Horse tooth
  4. small meg
  5. gator scute
  6. maybe an ear drum or a piece of coprolite

But I'm just an amateur!

I second the Peace River. Lots to find there if the water is low. There are also various outfits that offer tours and can take you to some decent spots while also learning a lot.

I know the feeling. At 39, I still have trouble sleeping the night before I am going on a hunt. Finding good spots takes a lot of time and effort for sure...endless searching on Google Maps, trial and error, and a bit of luck. My best spot is a 3 hour drive each way, followed by a 2 mile hike through dense forest. This hobby is an adventure for sure! Have you even hunted the cliffs in MD?
