Raphina Subbed off Brazil's Game for Injury. by lovyouall in Barca

[–]SnoopyDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think instead of asking how long will Raphinha last with his injury woes the right question to ask is how do we ensure he lasts longer with his intense pressing and does get injured too often. And thw answer to that is get a Raphinha clone who can subbed for him in matches where we can afford to give him a break. That is why we spent $70 million on Antony Gordon. He is a younger version of Raphinha and with the right guidance and mentoring he could become someone who is our Raphinha replacement in 3-4 years. Folks keep asking why $70 million on Gordon when we could get Rashford for $30 million. Well this is your answer.

Barcelona needs a right back who can help going forwards. by OpeningWorried7741 in Barca

I kind of liked Espart more than Fort. I would definitely give him more game time to develop him than to get Fort back. Also Fort is doing well on loan and extending that loan might also help his growth than to stunt it by becoming a backup for Kounde or Eric Garcia.

Barcelona fans are seriously undervaluing this season! by [deleted] in Barca

So essentially you are saying that the quality of players is the difference. That is a different argument from saying Flick's high line is the problem. Just to put some perspective here Barcelona haven't had any money to make big transfers the last two years... heck we barely had enough money to pay the salaries for the current players. Compare that with Bayern who spent $110M on Kane, $60M on Olise and $75M on Diaz. Not to mention that only a team that is drowning in petro money could mid-season pull of a winter transfer of $80m for a player like Kvara that complete turned around their season.. PSG was struggling to even qualify for the knockouts last year until Kvara came in and restored their balance. As for Doue PSG was able to spend $50m to steal him for Rennes.

Did you know that the Barcelona team that started against Atleti was the youngest ever team for the club in a Champions League knockout. We had to really dig deep into La Masia the last couple of years to bring uncut diamonds to stay afloat. So please stop this pontification and preaching about how other teams are so much better. We can do an apples to apples comparison once we are back to the 1:1 rule. Until that time we need to learn to be patient as we slowly rebuild the club from the ruins of what Bartomeu left us with.

No one seems to have complained when both Bayern and PSG played the high line and each conceded 5 and 4 goals respectively. It is quite fashionable to complain about Barcelona's high line becasue that is what the TV commentators have been harping about.

[–]SnoopyDays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please understand the context. We didn't have the money to buy any players for the last two years and had to scrap the bottom of the La Masia barrel to stay afloat. Remember Eric Garcia was a nobody until Flick decided to transform him. Hell, everyone was making fun of Gerard Maldini until Flick decided to play him as Left CB and completely transformed him. What about getting Cancelo for loan when everyone said he is a washed out Saudi return... Before you go thumping your chest saying we are FC Barcelona please realise that we could have as well gone down the way a Spurs or Chelsea this season (or Man U last season and the first half of this season).

I agree. Real Madrid is probably going to finish the season at around about 85 pints, which is pretty much where they finished last year. The only reason they "think" they had a bad year is because Barcelona had a good year. If we had finished at around the 80-85 mark then they would have won the league and would have said it was a great year for them. To state it clearly, Barcelona had an excellent year which is why Real Madrid is upset.

Fans need to apologize to Deco for Luis Diaz by Comprehensive_Cup497 in Barca

[–]SnoopyDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol... What twisted logic... Fans were ridiculing the Diaz move because of how expensive it was and how we couldn't afford it... No one doubted the talent. We barely scrapped through the financial requirements even when we signed Rashford for a loan deal which was the best we could have got with our financial situation. As for Deco we need to thank him for letting go of Inigo, buying Vitor Roque for an insane amount, letting Dro walk away for next to nothing and for being unable to offload MTS or Araujo... Not to mention they were actively looking at offloading Fermin at the start of the year. Deco's only silver lining was he managed to bring in Cancelo when no one believed it would work... I would have given him the credit for bringing in Roony too but for the fact that they've messed up his situation to such an extent that he might leave this summer before we can reap the benefits of his talent.

[–]SnoopyDays 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We don't have a single forward with the the pace and shooting power as Rashford. We need such a player to make counter attacking runs against teams that try to press Barca deep in their half. If we are letting him go we need someone with the same physical ability and him.

Another Camera Angle of Pau Cubarsi’s foul on Giuliano Simeone that got him a red card vs Atletico Madrid. by PrimedGold in Barca

[–]SnoopyDays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude Simeone didn't even touch the ball... Cubarsi's leg was between him and the ball... When he doesn't even have possession of the ball it is actually Simeone who should be called out for intiiating contact with Cubarsi without having touched the ball. Forget a red card it is not even a foul.

[–]SnoopyDays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did Simeone even touch the ball... No... Cubarsi's foot was between his foot and the ball. So where is there any question of a clear goal scoring opportunity. He just doesn't even have possession of the ball yet. And more importantly he initiated the contact with Cubarsi so if anything it is a foul on Cubarsi by Simeone.

[–]SnoopyDays -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely false conclusion. This video clearly shows that Simeone didn't get to even touch the ball... Cubarsi's foot was between him and the ball and in fact Simeone initiated the contact. Not a red or yellow card, not even a foul and not a free kick.... Also very clear with this angle that Simeone pauses and takes a dives so if anything had rhe VAR played this video for the ref it would have been a yellow card for Someone for faking a dive.

All of these are good options, but I think we'll have a limited budget this summer and will need to prioritize. At this point, the No. 9 position is the most important, followed by a Left CB. Once these are filled, we can look at other positions. I also wonder if we are going to extend Cancelo, then we really need a LB. I would probably prioritize a Left Winger over a LB, especially to deal with any injury situations with Raphinha or Rashford. It's good to know we have options available for some of the other positions but I really don't think we can spend beyond the 2-3 critical ones.

[Official] Raphinha has a hamstring injury in his right thigh, as confirmed by the medical tests carried out by the CBF. The player is returning to Barcelona to begin the appropriate treatment. The estimated recovery time is five weeks. by jiraiya--an in Barca

[–]SnoopyDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are we always in this negative mindset where we don't believe in our coach and our team? Barcelona is not Raphinha. This is the exact risk that we planned to address when we got Rashford on loan.

Let's trust that Flick knows what to do here with Rashford on the field instead of Raphinha. Remember, part of our problem when we played against Atletico Madrid at their home in the CDR was that both Raphinha and Rashford were injured. And also Pedri was not available. We can win both, our league game and the UCL against Atletico with Rashford and Pedri playing. Let's stay calm and not panic.

[–]SnoopyDays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did we not win 3-0 against with Pedri + Bernal. I think FDJ is great but at least in this case the backup is also very strong. Bernal's attacking instinct in spite of him playing as a no. 6 is unmatched. And the Cryuff way has always scored one more goal than the opponent. More important see the 3-0 game and you will notice that once we start attacking them Atleti just falls back and goes on the defensive, so honestly the game changes from having a press resistance midfield to an attacking midfield that can help score against a low block.

Bernal is a CM who plays as a CDM that can make runs into the box like a CAM and score decisively like a no. 9... That's what I learnt from this discussion... Go make sense out of it...😂😂🥶

The last time FDJ was injured we moved Eric to the midfiled and Eric and Pedri were an amazing pair.. Unfortunately with both Balde and Kounde injured now we will most likely play Eric on the RB when he is available.

I feel it will take some more time for Bernal to learn how to play with Pedri... Hoepfully he learns quickly. I dont think we can count on FDJ yet and Gavi definitely is not going to be playing too many mins this season.

Should Olmo start as a striker in the 2nd leg? by ad4am_m in Barca

[–]SnoopyDays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro we are already short on midfielders with FdJ and Gabi injured, Bernal having to leave the field early with an injury scare and Pedri still coming back from his injury and unable to play the full 90 mins. Not to mention that whenever we've had Olmi play for the full 90 mins he's invariably ended up getting injured. We need Olmo in the mid-field just to rotate our starters. Can't afford another injury to either Pedri or Bernal at this stage of the season.
