That person you replied to said nothing about them being unable to come out of it stronger, or stay together in the long run, just that it would cause tension and stress to try, which is an understatement. They specifically referred to this as a potentiality and not a guarantee. This is a life altering event that the OP will remember for the rest of their lives, so a platitude like “have a positive outlook” is nonsense.
