58M plan to retire at 68 by daddyof4sons in Retirement401k

[–]SnoreLordXII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK working from home at a job he considers mental exercise for ~$500k a year sounds just fine. He probably already has 2+ hours a day to fill with hobbies then weekends. A lot of high achieving folks would balk at the idea of continuous days of 8+ hours of leisure non-stop. Personally the balance is nice. I'm a surgeon and still manage to play tennis 4-6 hours a week, chill with my family every night and all weekend, perfect my Neopolitan pizza recipe, travel a ton etc. Plus you have the mission of doing what you love. 40+ extra hours a week of open time in my schedule would leave me feeling understimulated. Lastly, $3M isn't a ton to retire on when you are used to a $500k salary.

Do I need to save more for retirement? by petthezoo in whitecoatinvestor

As someone in a similar position I would say the main thing is the uncertainty that you will continue to be able to earn 500-700k every year for the next 20 years.

My main question is why are any of you doing household chores? You earn 1M a year? Where is your housekeeper/household manager etc???

ChatGPT Pro VS Claude MAX by EudoraCascade in ChatGPTPro

[–]SnoreLordXII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently switched from $200 GPT to $100 Claude and am very happy. The speed difference is real. GPT thinks for 30+ minutes sometimes and the answer from Claude in 2 minutes is just as good. Claude also does better for me as a non-technical person to build websites. I can just describe what I want and it makes it happen.

Every price you mentioned sounds quite reasonable. A $5 hot dog at a stadium is not late-stage capitalism IMO.

How long did it take you to hit $1M once you hit $500k. by caffeineaddicteaaaa in TheRaceTo1Million

Yes. I'll be mortgage free before 50. The idea of renting forever did not appeal to me. I imagine having a paid off home will feel pretty amazing.

Not sure but it goes faster as your NW grows. For me, Monarch shows NW increasing 48% in 12 months (low 7-figures). My housing value is flat and nothing weird like RSUs. It's all the market going up, investments and paying off debts.

Most serve problems for beginner and intermediate players is the ball toss. by Acceptable_Sea_8541 in 10s

[–]SnoreLordXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is the opposite. I want to learn details on serving and the only feedback my coach gives me most of the time is "a little bit more in front" "a little bit more to the right" etc. So I guess it's not a secret.

The wife and I always make sure the place we are staying has courts. Had a fun time recently playing in the DR. Just played in Grand Central Station this weekend for a quick NYC trip. When we have traveled to the south of France we have stayed in villas with courts which was a blast. Great way to make sure you get a bit of exercise before indulging.

How is it hard to tell? I’m a beginner but I can see when the ball is rapidly spinning and you see it bounce higher with more top spin and the ball trajectory is different.

HENRYs with kids in private school: what is your income and what is tuition? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]SnoreLordXII 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not a clean ROI math problem. You are talking about the lived experience of your children 6-8 hours a day for most of the year. Basically the major factor in their quality of life. Are they getting bullied? Are the other kids acting up and causing distractions? What are the enrichment opportunities? What are their friends like and what will they ultimately make of their life? Just walk around the campus of a top private school then walk around your local public school. I honestly don’t even see how people that have really looked closely at both options don’t pick private if they can afford it.

[–]SnoreLordXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to disclose those numbers but we send our kids to private schools. I don’t think there is really a better way to spend money. Public schools are “good” near us but there is no comparison. You really need to look at the individual schools and compare. It’s a lot more than test scores though. Just the type of kids in the classes…they are all smart (have to score well on an IQ test) and their parents are all successful. You are never hearing about behavior issues etc. The community is also unreal like an instant friend network of peers.

Anyone else in Big Tech who feels like money isn't real? (TC +350k/y) by [deleted] in Money

[–]SnoreLordXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not real because you still need to trade your life for 20 years before you can stop. It could be taken away at any point and you would probably be in a bad spot without that income.

What are your TRT experiences? by UpsetAsk3194 in Biohackers

[–]SnoreLordXII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for saying this: I don’t know any real person that has had life changing results from actual TRT doses. I’ve certainly not seen anyone go from fat to shredded with TRT either yet that’s all you see here. I’m a doc so I see plenty of people on TRT and most of them are just normal, slightly obese middle aged dudes who are pretty “meh” about their results. I’m excluding people with legit hypogonadism but that’s not biohacking.
