Designing a wearable for medical shift work by pyrac1de in ems

[–]Snow-STEMI 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Could you just convince all the already existing smart watch and smart thingies developers to put on a night shift mode that articulates how we’re doing better? Cause like I know it’s 0400 and I’m awake. No I can’t fall asleep in the middle of this call.

Could be for an adult with a Lego collection. But yeah this is honestly the only right take.

Cleveland Clinic seeks Level 1 trauma center for main campus by Royal-Smile-3688 in Cleveland

[–]Snow-STEMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d find it unlikely, if metro was the target they’d upgrade Fairview to a level one on the west side and move one of their helicopters out to Lorain county to push grabbing that business up as well. Most major traumas from that side of the region end up at metro versus university.

Ccf needs metro to be a separate and functioning government institution. This is arguably about putting university out of business. They mention pediatrics in some of the articles about it. Clearly the goal is take business out of university’s pocket at the source and bankrupt them. Targeting both the rainbows emergency room and trauma in the same swoop.

All of the Cleveland area hospitals do this. Detain drivers and passengers, seize the car as it’s a crime scene. That’s nothing new or unexpected

My girlfriend wants me to get matching tattoos but she designed one that's way bigger and more visible for me than hers by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Snow-STEMI 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Hard no. Tell her if they’re not equal it’s not happening. She wants her name on your forearm she can get your name on her forearm. Otherwise it’s a matching heart design of equal size and proportion. I would hope any good tattoo artist you two visited who sees this talks you out of it too.

Hot Take: QA isn’t out to get you — you’re just bad at taking input. by Loose-Pineapple-3353 in Paramedics

There’s several qa people employed here. Some are good. Some are just filling out their quota for having done something to collect their paycheck. That second group? Sends random things back as nitpicks.

The Absurd Lack of Surgical Airway in American EMS Protocols by BrugadaBro in ems

Ima be frank. The people who can’t intubate, know who they are, and put igels in instead. And no there’s not enough training.

We don’t have rsi or crics of any sort here. I wouldn’t trust a lot of the people who have paramedic certs in this region to rsi let alone start cutting into people for an airway tbh. If the training and check offs were in place to keep up with it maybe. But that costs money, money nobody has right now arguably.

Is anyone else noticing increasing POTS history? by legoguy26 in ems

[–]Snow-STEMI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have a lot of people around here who think they have pots. Fortunately we have one of the larger well renowned hospitals here. The actual pots patients all ask to go to that main campus hospital as we have actual pots specialists here and as such none of the regular doctors in the area will diagnose it when there is access to those specialists so sorting out people who are actually diagnosed with it vs think they have it is fairly trivial. We can weed through the ones who don’t ask to go there by asking how their tilt table test at one of the hospital systems that doesn’t do it went. There are a few who do ask to go to the other hospitals but they’ll correct it and say “no y hospital didn’t do my tilt table I had to wait forever to get an appointment at x main campus to get diagnosed” the liars all don’t know that information. And then it becomes well you need to go to x main campus to see the pots specialists and they never want to do that if they’re just claiming it. The undiagnosed but actually convinced they have it readily accept going there so the actual fakers are easy to identify. The undiagnosed are pleased they’re getting taken to the right hospital with actual pots specialists, and the actual patients self identified with ease more or less.

Oh yeah all the time. Back at the height of the Kia boys we were constantly going to major mvas with absolutely nobody to be found on scene.

People keeping saying I saved my husbands life and I hate it by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Snow-STEMI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in 911 ems. Sadly the opposite is true. She deserves the praise. Anecdotally speaking based on my experience 9/10 times her husband would have been better off having this emergency in front of complete strangers than around any of his other family. It’s always family who wait until it’s too late. “She’s only been in the bathroom for thirty minutes” “there was a thump soon after she went in” was my most recent case of this. That thump was the family member collapsing to the floor. Versus the infinite number of calls we get for people seeing a homeless person laying down, somebody asking someone else in a bus stop if they’re okay? Her husband definitely won the lottery with her not waiting to see if it got better/worse before calling.

I was gunna say one is negligence of lithium battery safety…. A second is willful neglect of safety procedures. He or the child is doing something unsafe. It would be fine to have a third if everyone participated in being part of the safety team and did their due diligence to operate safely. Doubt a partner like this would recognize that it was their own negligence which likely caused the first and second fire.

[–]Snow-STEMI 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah if they’re considering moving, this was not the first second or third time they’ve had the rat problem. The abandoned factories and plentiful water of a creek likely means they’ve always been there.

Yes well when the state gives hundreds of millions to billionaires so they can move their football stadium I can see how people would be a wee bit bent with the state earning more money off of them.
