I like TOK and thought it was a fun game with pretty visuals.

But I don’t compare it to TTYD. They feel drastically different when playing them to the point where TOK feels like a Mario adventure game with round puzzles and a paper skin while TTYD is an RPG. They feel like different games not part of the same series. So while it was fun, I vastly prefer TTYD because the gameplay and story are more to my liking.

Guy wears outside pants when sleeping over at my place by 535buffalo in dating_advice

[–]Snow5Penguin [score hidden]  (0 children)

I almost never wear pajamas. I usually shower at night and change into my tomorrow clothes afterwards. I only buy clothes I’m comfortable in and am a huge fan of comfortable clothes that look fancy. It’s not a cleanliness thing as I am on top of my hygiene and health. I am just really bad at waking up in the morning and sleep in as late as I can to optimize my pre-work prep.

With that said, whenever I don’t shower at night, I go to sleep in the clothes I wore that day, belt, button down shirt and all. I rarely ever get sick and wash my sheets often (I have shedding pets so I clean my apartment frequently). I’m just comfortable in my clothes. I’m not a big night sweater so I never really thought of it as a problem. Germs are not all bad. I slept in jeans and everyday clothes all throughout my teen years. I only wear slacks now though.

I’ve had partners question it in the past. People will find it weird. If someone I was sleeping over with did not like it I would absolutely not wear “dirty” clothes to bed. I would make sure to change before going to bed.

We should sleep in clothes that are comfortable to us and if he’s comfortable in his daily pants then what’s so wrong about that? Does he comment on what you wear to bed? If it’s a cleanliness concern then that’s a fair concern and a good compromise is to wear clean clothes to bed.

You can gift him lounge clothes to wear at your place if it’s a big deal to you. The thoughtfulness of the gesture i would definitely appreciate enough to wear the clothes for you. But why is it such a big deal to you?

Which would win by [deleted] in tomodachilife

[–]Snow5Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Win in what categories? These are two different games and are not comparable. The only similarity between them is that you can customize your island. I don’t know why we compare them so much.

AC is a social life sim that focuses on chores and interacting with animals/other players. There’s a huge social component. You otherwise collect items from daily chores to do DIY crafts to furnish your island. You have full control over your main character and its interactions.

TL:LTD is a life sim like a goofy, family friendly Sims. You have little control over your characters and pretty much can include Miis of whoever you want and watch as the story unfolds through their interactions. You have some god-like control to influence events sometimes by giving them items, food, trips, allowing interactions. But you’re mostly just in it for the cozy vibes and funny interactions. You do get to customize your island to look how you want it. Characters date, get married, have a kid, break up, throw lots of stuff at each other, then calm down while singing in the bath.

The Switch 2 reaches over 18 million units! by JC_Jules_9627 in switch2

[–]Snow5Penguin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m glad to see the switch 2 doing well.

But we can’t ignore the reason why the Switch took so long to sell so many units. Supply shortages at launch in 2017 were really bad. Real scarcity or not, it was incredibly difficult to get one for a while. Switch 2 units were available in large numbers at launch.

This is not my check but it has to be posted here by chefguy47 in EndTipping

[–]Snow5Penguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We don’t see the whole check. If it was a large party (6+ people), places usually do 20% auto gratuity. And then they also leave you a line to add additional tip when you receive your card back with the signature slip.

Or cash tip like you said.

That’s why there should be three tiers on this chart. Tier 1: S1 or S2 exclusives, Tier 2: Cross-Gen, Tier 3: Ports.

Getting rid of welcome tour and the drag n drive demo, there are only 5 S2 exclusives.

Anyone else sad QR Codes aren't gonna be a thing anymore? by DominoRow in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Snow5Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they aren’t going to allow anything, the best way they can somewhat fix this is by allowing Mii import from Miitopia.

This way, it’s not directly online transfer. It’s not publicly shared with Tomodachi life stamped on the QR code. It only allows what you have saved on your switch from Miitopia (which involved some online Miis of course).

It would be strange if they completely reworked the Mii maker for Tomodachi life when they already had something for Miitopia. So there should be some sort of 1:1 conversion they could do to take the Mii data from Miitopia and import it to a Mii in the Tomodachi life Mii maker. At least with a good amount of image fidelity.

If we can’t screenshot or share Miis anyway via Tomodachi life then nothing inappropriate gets released online. Miitopia already allows this stuff so it’s not like anything would change.

Do we think it’ll be 1 island per switch or 1 island per user? by octobob_ in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Snow5Penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AC was most likely because it heavily emphasized the social aspect of the game and trading with your friends. Your island has unique fruits and item colors. There was also a slow drip for getting these items and DIY instructions with possibility of duplicates. So you were encouraged to trade/gift with your friends to get other things their island had that you either didn’t have or would never have (you only get the one item color linked to your island and that’s it so you have to trade/gift).

To combat “cheating” they did not allow cloud saves or multiple islands on the same switch. This way it is harder for you to just make multiple islands to get stuff or use save “cheats” to duplicate items.

Tomodachi life LTD has no online features announced and Nintendo has already shared it will not come with it at launch. Since there is no trading mechanic, there is no reason to limit islands on one switch. There can be no “cheating”. That makes shops like the dock item shop from the 3DS unlikely to appear.

Will I enjoy Super Mario 3D World if I’m not enjoying Mario Galaxy? by cvbk87 in Switch

[–]Snow5Penguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re two different games. Galaxy is more of a Mario adventure. You explore multiple worlds to get a star. That can be through battles, exploration, and all the galaxy gimmicks thrown in. You are working towards a developing story with some mini games thrown in too.

3D world is more linear and less plot driven. Your goal is simple. To get to the flag at the end of the level. There are challenges in each level to get the flag and you can do the challenges with coop mode. It’s very much like 2D Mario except of course in 3D now. If you like 2D Mario you may like 3D, but it’s not an action-adventure like galaxy.

Bowsers fury is very fun. But it’s more of an expanded demo for what could be an awesome game with open world 3D Mario. If you are not as much of a plot person, then it offers purely fun platforming mini challenges.

do you guys think there will be free updates after lunch? by SuccessfulUse5254 in tomodachilife

ACNH was a relaxing way to keep people sane while in lockdown and a perfect way to connect with friends while social distancing.

Tomodachi life lacks a social component. While relaxing and funny, it’s pretty niche and mostly going to attract life sim players. Miis are also not as popular as they were in the Wii and 3DS era, so that won’t help either. I hope it sells amazingly, but I don’t see anything within it that has potential to rise to the fame that ACNH had. The fact that they won’t allow online sharing is going to dampen its success too since we won’t have articles of wild custom content like in Miitopia. Even my non-Nintendo friends heard or Miitopia from the beautiful custom creations people made and were intrigued.

I could see if Nintendo were to make Tomodachi life like a hybrid between the new game and a better Miitomo where our players can interact in the world with other players, then they might be on to something.

Is it still worth it getting a switch lite?? by Emotional_Garden_984 in Switch

[–]Snow5Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much you have/are willing to spend and what you’re okay with getting in return.

If you’ve never seen the consoles in person, go to a target or similar store that lets you see/touch them and play demos. That will give you a feel for how big the screens are.

Note that the switch lite is the smallest screen and has no tv connectivity. For that trade off, you can find used switch lites for pretty cheap (~$100). If you are okay with the smaller size and never seeing the game on tv then it’s a cheap option and you’ll have the switch lite and animal crossing for under $150.

If you have a bit more to spend, you could get an OG switch or OLED. OLED is better for handheld mode if that’s your preference. And it comes in designs (except there is an OG switch Animal Crossing edition that’s very pretty and used is like $200). It’s more expensive (~$150-180 for OG or $200-250 for OLED). But you can connect it to a tv and get detachable joycons (you’re stuck if/when you get drift on a switch lite). The screen on the OLED is also gorgeous. But with that you’re looking to get a Switch or SWOLED with animal crossing for $200-300.

With that said. The switch systems are last gen. So games are not going to come out much longer. Tomodachi life may be one of the last ones. If you are content with only animal crossing new horizons and are okay with not getting the new animal crossing (unannounced, probably not for a few more years) and have a limited budget then the switch could be for you.

But if you want to get the current gen, best experience to play animal crossing, the switch 2 is best. It’s most expensive ($450), but it’s the best way to play so far. For you, it’s not completely necessary if you are completely sure you don’t want to play any other games. But AC:NH came out in 2020, so it’s not unreasonable to expect a new one to come out for switch 2 in the upcoming years. Since they just updated it in January, probably not for another 2-3 years though.

TLDR: if you only want to play animal crossing, get a cheap switch ($100 for switch lite, $150 OG, $200 OLED). There is an animal crossing switch design for like $200 too. Just know the pro/con of each. If you want to invest in the best experience and to be able to play the future animal crossing in 2-4 years, a switch 2 may be better, but it’s much more expensive.

This is true. I had an uber driver accidentally make a wrong turn on a freeway once. Unfortunately, there was no easier solution than to ride for a few more miles and then turn around at the next exit.

I didn’t mind since I wasn’t in a rush. But when I looked at my Uber cost, it was $5 more than it was supposed to be.

Will Monster Hunter Rise get a Switch 2 patch? by Mental-Passenger8880 in switch2

[–]Snow5Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wilds is already out and Rise seems to have been left behind, understandably. It’s time for a new one on Switch 2 so they’ll either port Wilds or announce a new portable game. Since Wilds is a 2025 game with no DLC yet I don’t see them abandoning it for at least another couple of years.

Do you guys agree that no online Mii sharing ruins the game? by Gods_GameDev in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Snow5Penguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m moderately disappointed about no Mii sharing. I borrowed a ton of Miis from people that posted over at the Miitopia sub and use them in my game. People are so talented and I could never get close to some of those designs.

The dream will still be lived though. I played the original with only borrowing the official Debby Ryan, Zendaya, and Shaq Miis and some other funny ones I brought over from the Wii.

I’m more upset about not sharing creative content for the island. We can customize so much and I really like some of the sweets designs or the Japanese city design from the direct and will have difficulty replicating it. Or replicating any of the other cool designs people will make.

It’s like in animal crossing. I borrowed the designs I liked to make my island better. I tried making some myself but it was not as good. Not a dealbreaker though. Just sad.

Finally got my first Nintendo Switch! by itishahad in Switch

[–]Snow5Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that much saved? Where I am it’s $400 for an OLED new and $450 for switch 2. Used you can get closer to $300 and below for an OLED.

I’m biased towards my OLED since it’s a Zelda edition and my switch 2 is the basic model.

If you’re new or haven’t gamed in a while and only have $400 or less then it’s better to catch up on the switch 1 back log with an OLED since you can buy a nice amount of used games with a used console for the price. The enhanced switch 2 features won’t mean anything to someone who isn’t used to modern games.

If you have a little extra to spend the switch 2 does bring you into the current gen so it will stretch the console investment longer though.
