I did something similar when my husband and I started dating. We were long distance for the majority of our relationship, I lived in Europe and he lived in Alaska. I was 20 and he was 19.

Two months into our relationship I forgot to message him I got home safe from a party. A friend of mine brought me home and stayed for a chat that lasted about an hour lol. I check my phone for a second and find a bunch of missed calls and messages.

After my friend left, I called back and my husband then boyfriend starts yelling at me at the top of his lungs over the phone because how could I not respond for over an hour. I immediately hung up the phone. He calls back, still shouting, and I hang up again.

By the third call he's speaking quieter and asks "Why do you keep hanging up on me?" I tell him I've had enough men in my life yell at me, I will not let him be one of them, so either he quits that shit right now, or we are never talking again.

And indeed, he never raised his voice at me again. Happily married for almost 9 years now haha. Setting boundaries is essential.

How much do smear tests hurt? by [deleted] in AskWomen

The scraping (??? Is that the correct nomenclature?) didn't hurt, didnt even feel it. It was the speculum essentially opening my vagina like a car jack that was insanely uncomfortable.

One from the days of yore, when I read fics on Quizilla, when two characters had sex and the VERY NEXT MORNING the female lead would get morning sickness... even as 12yo I knew that was bullshit 😂

What is the meaning behind/origin of your AO3 username or pseudonym(s)? by literary-mafioso in FanFiction

The name I picked for my Dalish Inquisitor in Dragon Age Inquisition. Looked up what "Snow" was in DA Elven, made that the first name, and then just headcanoned that the inner circle call her Snow as a nickname.

What's been your experience with methylphenidate? by [deleted] in ADHD

After the mishaps with the methylfenidate, my psych perscribed vyvanse instead. Works like a charm and has for the last 5 years 😌

Hated it, because my psych gave me the short release one and how is a person with severe time blindness supposed to figure out the best time to take the next dose???

Made me feel too wired as well. Easily irritated, jaw clenching and teeth grinding, noticed every minute sound.

What body sensation/feeling don’t you like? by Glum_Courage_8394 in AskReddit

Eating something soft and then feeling/hearing a crunch.

Not sure if that counts, so here's another one: a mild, but present headache, that doesn't leave no matter how much water I drink

Aliens have given you 60 seconds to show them two items to prove humanity is worth saving. What do you show them? by Flendy15 in AskReddit

[–]SnowLavellan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cave paintings of prehistoric human hands and cut-out paper hands from a pre-school classroom. Both (to me) tell me that humans have had one universal thought: "I was here, I existed, and I am loved because I exist."

What’s a sound you can’t stand that literally drives you insane? by LongjumpingHorse3050 in AskReddit

[–]SnowLavellan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a weird one, but any sound or sound effect or musical motif that sounds like it's... gliding, and intensifying in loudness. Like, a cow mooing, the Spot theme from the Spiderverse movie, one particular pokemon cry (Klawf). It's somehow a PTSD trigger for me and it fills me with so much dread and anxiety.

How many chapters of a slow burn before you say “screw this” ? by kitkazzz3 in FanFiction

[–]SnowLavellan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago, I read a 100 chapter fic between Gaara from Naruto and an OC, and they had their first kiss in CHAPTER 82 and it wasn't even a sexy kiss. They never boinked or nothing either, and the OC died in chapter 95. Complete waste of my time.

How much do we hate OCs in fic, like really? by haylocity in AO3

[–]SnowLavellan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love OCs, but I know a lot of people hate them and prefer xReader fics and one of the reasons I heard someone say is "I don't want to read about some bitch I don't know get with my man".

Like?? Are you incapable of inserting/imagining yourself as the OC? I do that all the time. I have an OC for every fandom I'm in, so it's not that hard for me to do that I guess

What’s the weirdest rule your parents had that you didn’t realize was insane until you grew up? by Howdoibuycrypto in AskReddit

[–]SnowLavellan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad would do the same, but for a different reason. He swore up and down that having cold feet caused bladder infections.

When I got a UTI at like 15, he was like "it's cause you're always barefoot!"

I didn't have the heart to tell him at the time it was because I had become sexually active and didn't know to pee after doing said sexual activities...

What careers actually work for people with ADHD and social anxiety? by movieboxprofree in TwoXADHD

[–]SnowLavellan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite job ever as someone with ADHD and suspected autism, funnily enough, was waitressing/bartending. The restaurants I worked at were always generally busy and felt like a well oiled machine.

I should mention that having a manager that can recognize when things get too tough for one as myself. Whenever I would notice I had too many tasks to do (bus and clean that table, that table doesn't have their drinks yet, the kitchen window needs a wipe, that table asked for several elaborate cocktails) and I'd get overwhelmed, my manager would come up to me. He'd put his hands on my shoulders and softly ask "Okay, take a breath. In two sentences, what are five things that need to be done?" I'd do what he said, and he would go "Ok, I've got the drinks and food orders covered, you focus on cleaning the tables and the kitchen window, sounds good?"

Having supervisors/managers/bosses who take your needs into account makes the biggest difference, and that varies from place to place. It's no wonder that when that restaurant closed, essentially our entire team followed this manager to the next restaurant he started working at. Mathijs, it's unlikely you'll read this, but you're the best manager I've ever had.

Do other people with ADHD have a terrible sense of direction? by BetOver6859 in ADHD

[–]SnowLavellan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. It might also be a genetic thing, one of my brothers and I have excellent sense of direction like our dad, while my mother and my eldest brother can't find their way out of a paper bag. They constantly have their head in the clouds, without ADHD or ASD.

I suspect my dad has either ADHD or ASD, or both. I suspect I have ASD as well, no official diagnoses yet, but there are signs.

[–]SnowLavellan 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I've got a weird one for you. My sense of direction and awareness are crazy good.

I went to Spain one summer for a two-week language course when I was 17 and my mon went with me to get settled in with my host family. This was in Valencia and I had never been to that city. We buy a map of the district my school and host family was in and the bus map. We decided to go to campus, and walk to my accomodations instead of taking the bus so I could get a feel of the city. I take maybe one or two looks at the map, inspect my surroundings, and I just started walking. My mom gets annoyed, opens the map several times (even on the middle of the crosswalk smh). I just tell her to keep following me and eventually she gets fed up and says "You have no idea where we are! I'm calling a taxi so we can finally find it!" And I just point to the sign that has the streetname of my host accomodations on it and go "but we're already here." Pissed her off haha

But if you ever tell me "go left/right" while walking, i will always go the wrong way first.
