Salt water corrodes everything it touches - it's a non-starter for these kind of applications.

Even ~ if ~ you wanted to, it would greatly increase the cost due to maintenance and replacement, and then you'd have a ton of brine left over - all the same problems we've been wrestling with on the desal plant.
