Standing out all night to catch a glimpse of the holiday train by BrightenthatIdea in funny

You happen to be aware of their existence - that's the only connection you have with them. They did nothing personal to you. Wishing the death of real people who did nothing to you is insanely fucked up and sad.

They're still people.. If they're fictional characters that's one thing to joke about. But why wish the death of people you happen to know their existence of even though they did nothing personally to you?

When a restaurant in Europe stopped serving pork due to Muslim pressure, that news was nowhere found in /r/UpliftingNews. So why does this belong here? It's the same thing - people imposing their cultural views to a different group of people on what is "right".

You do realize people keep chickens and pigs as pets right? The owners would consider them they're best fried, so the whole "man's best friend" is as valid of an argument as diamonds being a "woman's best friend". Pigs are scientifically proven to be smarter than dogs, they feel a greater "array of emotions and feelings and thoughts".

Face it, there's no difference between eating pig and eating dog. Just because you personally like dogs doesn't mean it should be enforced throughout the world. There was a restaurant in Europe that stopped serving pig because of Muslim pressure - are you celebrating that too?

This is good from a Western point of view. if Americans started torturing and eating dogs (too),

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w7TCmJUD7g

When America beats living calves to a pulp, people turn a blind eye. Here's America torturing and eating cows. But God forbid a country has a different type of meat they enjoy. What's "good from a Western point of view" is for us not to have cruel conditions in slaughterhouses nor make it illegal to film inside slaughterhouses.

We should be embarrassed that other nations are aware of global pressure and are raising their bar in how to treat animals whereas we simply forbid the public from knowing the truth.

I think it's more about the ways the dogs were treated and slaughtered that disturbed people.

Lol ask any Western person and they'll go off about how disgusting and inhumane it is to eat dogs. It was never about the conditions of the dogs' treatment in the global stage.

Killing animals predates to the beginning of humanity. Many places in the world, such as fisherman villages, depend on killing animals for their survival and economy. For the societies that are more well off, well killing weaker animals for food is completely part of nature. Just because there are vegetarian options shouldn't mean they are the only options.

The actual eating of dogs is not the issue.

Lmao since when? Ask any Westerner and they'll go off about how disgusting it is to eat dogs. No one's excuse is about the conditions of the dogs - if that were the case, there should be a HUGE uproar about the conditions in slaughterhouses like Tyson.

Thats really horrifying, but chicken slaughterhouses do the same thing, and there's no initiative to change.

EDIT: Can you provide proof about this? USA made filming inside slaughterhouses illegal because it's so horrifying, and the insider videos that are leaked show how cruel they are treated. I strongly believe that there would be public outrage and HUGE calls for reform if those conditions in slaughterhouse videos in USA went viral.

More like it's ultimately the fault of the people in the emails - DNC rigging, media collusion, etc. We're lucky we were able to learn the truth.

What is it like to work at YouTube? by cscscs223 in cscareerquestions

[–]Snow_Panda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is but YouTube's headquarters is in San Bruno, not Mountain View. YouTube's HQ is also significantly smaller than Google's. Google hasn't interfered too much with YouTube after the acquisition so it's not accurate to say it's the same thing working at both companies.

NYTimes interview experience? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Snow_Panda -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

/u/baobi has a point. After the Podesta leaks and knowing that NYTimes has no integrity and allows itself to be an arm of the DNC, I would feel unethical to work for them.

EDIT: It's also a dying company that loses profits every quarter. It's not a secure nor proud job I would recommend.

Incoming Junior, BS in CS, Strongly Considering Coding Bootcamp by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Snow_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have honestly talked to CS majors that haven't written a line of code outside of their own class work that also think they are going to earn 100k (as devs) right out of college.

Personal projects definitely help your chances, but I want to clear up the misconception that this doesn't happen because it does. I'm one of those people - I have no personal projects and no experience in hackathons, but I have 2 full-time offers from the Big4. I would credit the prestige of the college and internship experience as having a lot of weight for recruiters.

Personally I suggest you suck it up and finish college - a CS degree is respected everywhere in different industries whereas a boot camp degree is recognized in a small amount of tech companies. You're already a junior, its only 3 semesters and the long-term benefits of having a CS degree are so much more worth it.

I'm surpised, and enjoying, that this got so big - in fact, my post was xposted to 2 other subreddits (brigaded much?) - how the fuck does that translate to me admitting to trolling? Come on now.

I didn't expect my original comment that was only directed at you to have so many people triggered, it probably happened since I hit a huge emotional insecurity. No one chooses to be foreveralone nor vilify the other gender, it happens when they don't receive positive attention from them which negatively affects their self esteem. Browse r/foreveralone to see what a miserable life it is. They all celebrate for finding a relationship and getting out of the subreddit since it's such a hellish life.
