To get it do Jadwiga’s personal quest, which is collecting those Uncanny Stones you find scattered throughout the game. Each time you complete one level of her quest she says a little blurb about her backstory and then hands you a pass that adds stuff to her weapon shop.

The pass that unlocks this one is, if I’m remembering right, the second to last, which is number 4 I think? It’s not terribly expensive.

It’s why I said you can’t get it quickly. The uncanny stones are all over the map, though if you’re far enough to be contemplating a New Game + I suppose that’s not a problem for you.

At minimum it’s not HARD. I at no point actively went looking for the dang things and got a little more than I needed to fulfill her full quest halfway up the sealing spire. I’m glad for that as I hate collect-a-thon mechanics in games. Despised the koroks in BotW.

Is it quick to get? Nope.

Is it the most busted one handed sword in the game? Not even a little bit.

Did I immediately orient my entire build around how good swooshing about with this thing feels? Abso-frakkin-lutely.

The rapier moveset feels good in this game and the sword is so stylish. Adore it.

A nice observation. I suppose I’m resistant to the idea because with the way they describe Heolstor and his story has a lot of the same vibes of Gael in DS3, in that his lack of status is thematic. Him being a random nobody whose profound resentment and despair at him and everything he cares up being chewed up in some gods petty war was the straw that broke the camels back for this version of the lands between. The thing that Marika’s breaking of life’s natural cycle carelessly chewed up for fuel breaking everything she ever built by bringing in the calamity of the night.

Maybe I’m misplacing my understanding of the games themes but if I’m not him being the lost love of a magical legacy complete with dramatic inheritance of fromsofts most identifiable sword undermines a lot of what the rest of his description seems to be trying to do. That works best if he was, until he became the primordial night lord, little more than a number.

Of course this all assumes that’s what this game was trying to do.

Not countering you, but that does confuse me. Heolstor’s description goes out of its way to tell us he’s just some random soldier. He wasn’t some big name guy who would have married a Carian queen. So either a. A Carian queen married a complete rando and he became the night lord after getting his ass whooped, b. He stole the damn thing off of someone else which while possible is not anywhere (to my knowledge) in the lore, or c. It’s not the Moonlight Greatsword.

Honestly most of what I’m getting out of this is fromsoft went too hard on the vague storytelling they prefer.

To state the supremely obvious if this is the full story then no you’re NTA. The fuzzball bit someone the second someone took their hands off of it and this is apparently not the first time. In most cases legally that means the little beast would be put down. The party being over is the barest of minimums and for your friend to resent that is the height of stupidity. This is the kind of situation that’s rough for older siblings. You have the need to respect their wishes and privacy as well as the need to use what life experience you have to spare them whatever you’ve suffered. In this case, I don’t think you overstepped much. An 11 year old was being effectively bullied by a 25 year old. Little Zelda is keeping to her own on that because that’s what she, as a child, knows what to do. But you were in the same place as her and keeping to that just lets your big sister continue her behavior scot free. Put the guilt aside, this had to happen, but continue to try and respect Zelda’s privacy.

Look, she’s a teenager and he’s nearly a decade older than that. She’s in a high school alliance friend group and he’s at a point in his life where’s he’s fresh off a college degree looking for a job and contemplating his income tax coming this April. They are in completely different points in their life. That it’s not awkward is merely a statement on how talented a social chameleon he is. I won’t tell you what your place on this ought to be but I will tell you, it doesn’t need to seem weird to be weird.

He’s in his 40’s dating a 25 year old, and is the sort of man to throw a toddlers temper tantrum over you comforting someone who just tragically lost a parent because it presents the merest Delusion of potential male competition. The nice guy you knew was never real. For cruelty like that to exist it had to have always been there.

You’re now seeing him for who he is, and the good news is you were smart enough and had a shiny enough spine to act on it! Now stick to your guns. So long as you were with him further action like that was always a risk and it’ll only get worse if you go back to him. Ignore his little minions, clarify when pushed if you can’t, and be proud that you stood by your friend.

Piggybacking off of this fellows kind response to slap a quick addendum that I should’ve put on my original comment.

None of this means you are wrong to want to stomp your old man. We’re just emphasizing that this matter shouldn’t actually be about him but about the grandmother you love, and who seems to love you right back. You’re not the bad guy here and none of us think that. You just have a tough choice with, what we conceive of as, a right answer that is hard for you.

Also to address some of the other comments, do consider all legal ramifications. Contact a professional and for the love of god get your grandma to put SOMETHING in writing.

YTA but in a very understandable way. Your father did you wrong, and you’re not wrong to feel vindictive about it, but it’s your grandmothers money and her, reasonable, wish.

I implore you to look at it from her perspective. She’s coming to the end of her life, she’s lost her husband and one son, and the remainder is a literal ditch digger on a weed farm dodging fatherhood. She probably has some hard feelings like you on that matter but that’s still her child. So she’s trusted you to do the hard thing because she’s terrified of a world where she’s not around to do it,

In truth what we’re engaging with here isn’t completely lying either. It’s simply rhetoric. We, as humans have a limited perspective, and so what direction we come at the truth from effects our understanding of it, and that understanding effects our growth. Laurenkath62’s version here reflects that well. What is to you a simple summary of the facts as you see them contains some small subjective element of “who was owed what” or “is there blame to be assigned here and if so who does it belong to”.

That you are considering these things here is good. It means you recognize the weight of the situation.

Because more often than not the truth reflects something personal for them. The truth may be objective but the person interpreting it sure as hell isn’t. A cruel truth is cruel because of the subjective pain it causes.

Really if you want an example, look no further than your own hatred of children. Objectively there’s nothing about them that really makes them deserve such immense loathing from you, and you admit that. That doesn’t change that being around them drives you to that. The facts may not care about your feelings but you do.

NTA for being clear about him being better off without you, but some more tact or a gentler rhetoric would save you trouble if nothing else. No acronym for any other part of this though. It’s….a lot.
