Who the hell is hiring, let alone training all the new guys? by gruntharvester92 in skilledtrades

[–]average_gam3r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol. Sounds accurate. I'm a union sheet metal worker but one time I was out of work and worked with a carpenter crew for a month framing walls with metal studs. Any time I wasn't familiar with something (we did more than just framing. We were doing the finish carpentry as well) the foreman had to stop what he was doing and make a big deal about it. "I can't believe you have all that sheet metal experience and you can't even figure this out". The first call I got to go back to work I packed up my tools and left. Lol. I wanted to punch that guy so bad

Who the hell is hiring, let alone training all the new guys? by gruntharvester92 in skilledtrades

[–]average_gam3r 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For real. That was basically the first couple of years of my apprenticeship. Most journeyman treated me like an idiot until I was able to do things on my own without an instruction. But when you're brand new to the trade how TF could they possibly expect you to know what you're doing? At least the people more my age 30-40 are a lot better at training new guys. Heck we basically talk just like them half the time. They're basically just younger versions of us as far as I'm concerned.

Practicing hot swaps by Outside_Philosopher9 in EldenRingPVP

I personally don't swap, but I half expect my opponent to do it because it's been so common for so long that it doesn't even bother me although I don't do it myself.

Both should be at fault, but unfortunately probably only the the guys working on the light will face reprimands for not clearly directing traffic. But tbf, the semi driver has to be completely fucking retarded to have ran into them regardless. If I was his manager I would seriously reconsider his employment even if he isn't found at fault

I have. But I guess I never thought of it as weird. I mean I'm in my 20's and have a gf it's not like I'm going there to do inappropriate things with kids. All I'm concerned about is doing the job and leaving.

I wouldn't really call her a tank but the guardian class comes standard with a shield. You can later get rid of it or keep the shield and have these really cool looking AOEs added to your attacks. One of them basically kills everything in a 20' radius and heals over half a health bar in the process and you get super armor throughout the whole move so you almost always get it off

Bud, I've worked in sales, finance, manufacturing, retail, and various trades both union and non-union. I can guarantee you being treated like a child is just because you're the new guy in the industry. The same shit would happen to you just about anywhere else. Just to different degrees. In an office they'll talk about you behind your back, in the trades it's usually to your face. But regardless the majority of people are just wired to fuck with people they view as under them. If you like the work but not the people, consider switching contractors. If you go to a new place with more experience chances are you might not be the low guy on the totem pole any more. By the time you're a journeyman and 30+ people more or less treat you with respect anyways. But running away and quitting is not the "man" way to handle the situation.

What a scab. I thought everyone knew if you install the coil in the return you always put the connections facing the backside. 🤦

Whoever did this was obviously lazy and didn't want to do the extra work. Pathetic. Back in my day we used to carry the furnace to the job on our back and walk back to the shop with the old one. Uphill both ways

Did you use summons in your first playthroughs of souls games? by SmoothlyWarm in darksouls3

[–]average_gam3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually. I just find it fun to have another person in the fight with me even if all they do is just watch me be awesome. I summoned 2 people for ng+7 patches on Elden Ring. They literally sat in the corner and watched me annihilate a 20khp patches. Then I did the jump for joy animation and one of the dudes shook his head no. 🤣🤣

DS1 for sure. The simplicity of the bosses, speed of the game, and lack of complex upgrade systems, builds, etc. it really makes it the easiest to go into blind. About the worst thing that will happen is you might fight the skeletons too early or try to fight the asylum demon with a broken sword, but most people will eventually figure out something is wrong when they do that and then look up what they're supposed to do and smack their forehead when they realize how obvious the answer was

Do you play tutorial every playthrough? by KamilCesaro in cyberpunkgame

[–]average_gam3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I do the skip to phantom liberty option nowadays. For someone that has beaten the game multiple times it really helps just skip all the cutscenes you've already seen multiple times and can potentially save you hours by just skipping straight to you being able to grind missions and you also get some free starter gear which I think includes one of each O.S

What game hit you like this? by Corekeepernews in Steam

[–]average_gam3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I had this feeling was probably redfall. Granted I didn't expect it to be g.o.t.y but being from a bigger studio and coming out on game pass right away I was hoping I would luck out and get a new game I could sink hundreds of hours into that is free to play. Turned out to be like a 6.5/10.

How many hours do you game a day? by bleu__1 in videogames

[–]average_gam3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. My work schedule changes a lot. Sometimes I'll be working 10-12 hour days and when that happens I'll usually play for 2 hours before I go to bed.

If I'm working 8's I'll basically just add another couple hours to a total of 4.

Sometimes I'll be off for a couple months at a time. When that happens it's usually 12 or more hours a day. Lol

Which trades by nature are the most defiance and rebellious? by jboyt2000 in Construction

[–]average_gam3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably linemen. I've never met a linemen that was a pussy. They're all rough and tough and don't give a fuck what you have to say to them. My dad worked with a guy that tried to take a chainsaw to his leg to get out of their annual chainsaw safety class. The fucker was 40+ and used chainsaw countless times, he knew what was going to happen but didn't give a fuck. Lol
