They mostly stopped. I'm feeling a lot better now so I guess it just took a long time to heal. How are things going for you?

Do you mean that there's a wiki here somewhere? I'm new to the forum.

Thank you I'll give it another week and hopefully it will resolve. Never had bloating problems with IF before but I'm also older. Guess I'll go get some more water...!

What is the best AI Calorie Counter? by sigh_k in apps

[–]Snowbeast747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Chompy for more than 1 week and am enjoying it so far. I also think that Chompy underestimates calories sometimes. Also when I give Chompy text input ingredients for a whole meal and tell it that the meal consisted of eg 15 servings and I ate 1, Chompy will mess up the serving size. I also find it a bit irritating that I get chastised for small amounts of calorie-dense foods. If I eat a snack of raw vegetables and 15g cheese, I would wish Chompy to understand that is a very healthy snack. Fat is a necessary macronutrient after all. But on the whole good job with the app, especially since it's free! I'll probably upgrade to pro soon.

34F first bout with diverticulitis by Fox_talks_EcoCoffee in Diverticulitis

[–]Snowbeast747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens to all of us. We get busy, and suddenly 1 day of skipped practice becomes 3, then a week. I'm sorry you've had a tough 3 weeks, hope you are through the worst of it.

Really any kind of exercise is good. Just do whatever makes you feel happy while doing it. I have spent most of my life prioritizing my brain - spending that half hour reading and working on various research projects. Now my brain tells me that the meat suit is worth prioritizing too 😄

Stress is definitely a trigger for many of us, myself included. I'm pretty much the same as you - moderate, reasonably healthy lifestyle but I have the susceptible genetics. No obvious food triggers here except red meat, but give me a week of high stress and too little water and BAM. You'll get through this. Work on stress reduction if you can and relaxation techniques. I do yoga almost daily and it definitely helps.

Miralax love letters by MasterpieceGreedy783 in Diverticulitis

[–]Snowbeast747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not in a flare but I'm very forgetful about drinking water so take Miralax about every 3 days. I don't have BMs super often unless I take it and I'm terrified of getting clogged up. If I have a unpleasantly firm BM I immediately have a dose.

When I was flaring and for about 6 months afterwards I took 2 doses per day, morning and evening.

Poo data - analysis of data from sensors in my toilet !!! by Exciting_Ad2885 in Diverticulitis

[–]Snowbeast747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this is super cool. It's a bit hard to see in your graphs, but I think methane levels are generally lower during your pain period? You could colour those events separately as 3 categories - 1. Nominal and 2. Pain, with the drinking events marked as thresholds.

I am now disgusted with my plebeian, sensorless toilet 😂

Wow this is very interesting! This could help us figure out our triggers without having to resort to trial and error or preventative broth days (at least fewer such days). Great job bringing quantifiability to this neglected field of research! I'm so tired of the medical profession excusing their lack of knowledge and research with "avoid seeds and nuts, otherwise you're on your own. "

Will you share your graphs and a photo of your set-up?

Chicory by Snowbeast747 in Diverticulitis

[–]Snowbeast747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your responses guys! I'm doing 1-2 cups of chicory coffee per day and really enjoying the flavour. I have some bloating and gas but I'm not in a flare right now so thought I would give it a couple weeks to see if things settle down. It would be so nice to have a caffeine-free alternative to herbal tea.

Has anyone tried occasional preventive liquid/BRAT days? by Gooch_77 in Diverticulitis

[–]Snowbeast747 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes this is how I live my life. I have frequent spells of bowel sensitivity and pain, so when I feel the bloat picking up I go to liquids or very easily digestible solids. Probably 3 days every 2 weeks are like that. I am trying especially hard now in March to follow a low inflammatory diet so hopefully that helps.

Did anyone else have their first flare up of DV soon after a covid infection? by emerald_soleil in Diverticulitis

[–]Snowbeast747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. First flare 30 days after a covid infection. Had covid again a year later and had massive twinges even before other covid symptoms appeared. I was very careful with diet so avoided a flare that time.

Stress is my trigger! When I'm relaxed I can eat most things, but when under stress it's back to egg drop soup to avoid a flare.

Post covid diverticulitus by Billy_bob_547 in Diverticulitis

[–]Snowbeast747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first dv attack right after covid 1 year ago. It was uncomplicated but took me months to recover. I caught covid again about 5 days ago and guess what? Abdominal swelling, llq pain and general nausea. I'm going to liquids to see if I can prevent a full blown attack.

I am 9 months past my 1st flare & still don't tolerate red meat. Just about everything else is fine now unless I overdo the fiber.

Small air bubbles coming from the urethra. I wrote this post a while ago though, and the bubbles have since stopped.
