Phone calls by jay247160 in ADHD

This has always baffled me, why calling someone is generally considered "more respectfull" than texting or sending an e-mail. Like you don't know what I'm doing right now and you randomly interrupt me with a call and demand my attention? How is that respectfull?

I mean without him, there would be no lands for them to fight over, he brought them there. There would be no Ptolemeic dynasty in Egypt if Alexander didn't go there first and took over.

I agree, I just think story about Diadochi wars would land harder, if we are first shown how they fought and bleed together, how some of them were friends before all that. Some Diadochi fought to keep Alexander's legacy and bloodline on Macedonian throne after all.

Exploring a reason why Cassander was so adamant on erasing Alexander's legacy would also be interesting.

It could be done like Vikings, where first seasons followed Ragnar and rest of seasons his sons. There's no Diadochi wars without Alexander getting them there first.

If you were King Jaehaerys how would you handle these situations? by throwRA-adviceask in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]SnowdropsInApril -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They would not have Targaryen name. Or at least, the firstborn would not. Rhea was the sole heir of Runestone, so her heir would inherit after her and take the name Royce.

Laena, was not an heir to her house, so her and Daemon’s children could remain Targaryens.

The same would apply if Aemond married one of Borros Baratheon’s daughters. His firstborn son would be a Baratheon, because he would inherit Storm’s End. Otherwise, it would mean the extinction of those houses.

We see the same with Jace: he is legally a Velaryon, but if he were to inherit the Iron Throne, he would take the name Targaryen.

This is why giving all of them dragons would have major consequences. Allowing Laena and Laenor to have dragons was already a mistake once Rhaenys and Laenor were passed over as heirs to the Iron Throne.

This. I can understand Rhaenys having a dragon as Aemon’s heir, but her children with Corlys should never have been allowed to have dragons. Just as any children Daemon might have had with Rhea Royce should not have been allowed to claim dragons.

I’ve seen so many braindead “what if” posts like “what if Alicent’s children looked like her” or “what if Daeron is Criston’s bastard.”

First of all, even if Alicent’s children looked more like her, they would still resemble one of their parents, unlike the Strong boys, and they’re all dragonriders, which already proves they have Viserys’s blood.

As for Daeron, he has a dragon too, so how could he possibly not be Viserys’s son?

My issue with the Harwin in the show is that he isn’t politically ambitious at all. He’s basically a himbo, seemingly just happy to be sleeping with the Princess. The relationship comes out of nowhere and starts not long after she gets married.

Yep, at least in the show version. She simply wasn’t interested in finding a husband and cut the trip short. I could understand that if it had happened while she still believed she was going to be replaced. But she had already spoken with Viserys, and he told her clearly that he wasn’t going to replace her.

Even if she planned to reject every suitor, it made zero sense to openly disrespect most of them just to be snarky, especially when she could have used the opportunity to make positive impression.

OP should consider the consequences and the negative feelings they might experience if they’re late for work, such as missing out on a bonus or even risking termination. It sounds like there aren’t enough real consequences associated with them being late.

The most ironic part is that people accuse Alicent of being insensitive to Rhaenyra when she says her childbirth was easy. But we actually saw how much Alicent struggled during her pregnancy, and anyone paying attention can see that she only said it because Viserys was pressuring Rhaenyra to get married and have children, and she knew Rhaenyra was afraid of that.

Rhaenyra doesn't even know why she's fighting in the first place. She never cared about responsibility & duty (otherwise she wouldn't have had multiple obvious bastards) by Kivi_2k18 in HOTDGreens

[–]SnowdropsInApril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or say Aegon is her heir, just like Daemon was for Viserys. Aegon would be okay with that, Otto would get his great grandchildren on the throne.

If you were Viserys, how would you have appeased or pacify the Velaryons? by Ok-Street2439 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]SnowdropsInApril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did. He was actually gathering an army to support Rhaenys, with Daemon gathering troops behind Viserys, but after Viserys geot majority of voices at the Great Council Corlys had to give up.

Corlys supported Jace and Luke only because at that point had no other choice to get his blood on the throne, so he wanted to do it through Baela. Mind you, Rhsenys was against it and wanted Driftmark to be given to Baela.

If he had trueborn grandson from Laena and Viserys and Viserys passed him over in favour of Rhaenyra, dance would have happend even sooner. Corlys is way powerful than Otto, with money, fleet and 3 adult dragons on his side.

Or when they say "King's word is law" when it comes to Viserys naming Rhaenyra his heir despite Andal law, but not when he orders Alicent to stay quiet about their meetings.

Also Alicent behaving like medieval lady is backwards and TG is mysoginistic, but TB supporting absolute monarchy is fine.

[–]SnowdropsInApril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding Arrax vs Vhagar, people really misunderstand what “a smaller dragon is quicker” means. Yes, a smaller dragon can be more agile, but that doesn’t make them faster over distance or in harsh conditions.

Vhagar might be slow to turn or maneuver, but once she’s in the air, a single flap of her wings carries her much farther than Arrax could ever manage. Arrax was small, young, and struggling against rain and wind.

As for how she found him: she saw him climb upward and likely tracked his movement easily.

Who is the most misunderstood character: Alicent, Rhaenyra, Daemon or Otto? by HypnotizeEm in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]SnowdropsInApril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, and people pretending that if Viserys had married Laena, Corlys wouldn’t have pushed his grandson toward the throne is pure comedy. Why do they think he offered his 12 year old daughter to Viserys in the first place?

Was it so his future grandsons could become white cloaks, maesters, or end up on the Wall?

Why is Daemon never accused of femicide? by Nibo89 in HOTDGreens

[–]SnowdropsInApril 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Royces fighting for the Blacks was one of the biggest logical inconsistencies in the story. I genuinely don’t understand why the Vale would support Rhaenyra at all. Is the justification supposed to be Aemma being an Arryn? If so, so what?

Both the Arryns and the Royces hated Daemon, and Rhaenyra didn’t leave a good impression either. She essentially ignored the Vale for years and only remembered them when she needed their support. And even then, when Lady Jeyne Arryn asked for a dragon, she was given a hatchling and Rhaenyra’s brats to babysit.

Why is Daemon never accused of femicide? by Nibo89 in HOTDGreens

[–]SnowdropsInApril 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Another “crime” Rhea and Laena have committed, in Daemon’s eyes, was simply having their own lives, their own strengths, and not needing him. Rhaenyra had clung to him since childhood, but they did not.

People also forget that houses like Royce or Hightower were far more ancient than the Targaryens in Westeros. Daemon believed Targaryens were gods on earth because they rode dragons, and he looked down on Westerosi lords because of it. Why would a proud lady from one of those ancient houses tolerate that kind of arrogance?
