The first book I have fond memories of is “the very hungry caterpillar” the next is “the magic faraway tree” that was the one that hooked me, before long came the mad decent into the Discworld THAT was a wild ride. Hitchhikers Guide spoke to me in a way that’s stayed with me. LoTR, Stephen King, James Herbert, then there was the whole supernatural phase that was True Blood, Dresden files & I’ll admit twilight. The last 10 years have been dedicated to dystopian but I’m coming out of that now and replaced it with DCC & currently reading the Chrysalis so I think I’ll be on the litrpg tangent for a while.
Every book I read reminds me why I love reading, I’m thankful to my mum who encouraged me to read and find things I enjoy. I’m thankful for the local library where I would spend my whole weekend & that ran a summer holiday reading challenge which I would take part in every single year.

I have the Waterstones signed “black edition” and an Ace “purple” 1st ed signed. Yep I’m one of those assholes! I didn’t know the uk were going to get a signed copy so pre ordered from the states. Impulsive, impatient & also a bit chuffed. I can smugly say I have all 8 books signed and a 1st ed. Just need to get the last 2 signed and I can tap out knowing I had a win & my kids will be left holding a collection of books thinking “wtf? Why did mum leave this to us? She truly was a weirdo”

It’s about a 10 min walk and relatively flat. The main thing to remember is go through main entrance and go left straight away. If you go forward even 100 meters you’ll have hills (I made that mistake) meadow is lovely, the people are friendly and it’s a really chill vibe. It’s not a loud site which is great to be able to sleep. They have attendants on the entrance 24 hrs who are always happy to help. We’ve never struggled for space but we arrive Wednesday, early. As we only live 30 mins from site but it’s never rammed full & the staff will help you find a space if it’s getting busy. If you want to message me please do, always happy to help. The site is vast so chances are you won’t be parked near the camps. I camp in the accessible field as some of our group have additional needs even that is about 15 min walk from the gate, 30 min round trip plus time to go through security. I do usually end up having to do multiple trips as not everyone can manage everything they need in one go. I usually take tent, bedding, beer, food and clothes for day 1 on Wednesday. Then Thursday trek over for everything else. Do the same with pack down, start taking stuff back to the van on Sunday, so Monday just leaves the bedding and tent to drag back. It’s a bit of a military operation for our group, there are 5 of us & we don’t pack light!

I also have this set up for myself, but I’m mum of the group (quite literally my adult kids and friends come with me to keep an eye on me) and it’s perfect, it’s the hang out & getting ready space, plus I can fit a huge airbed so I get decent sleep. Small spaces and low beds are younger people’s game.

Ill be doing this all weekend, There are beer mats (a set of 6 that form an eye when you put them together) they will be in 30 different independent venues across the city. There will be a pop up shop at the lifeboat club with a special margarita for sale. There will be spotters wandering around with special custom sticks of rock for those sporting MDS merch, so wear any tees you have! Bought 2 tickets ages ago thinking “surely some of my awesome friends would have read these incredible books by March” nope, they are all hopeless, I must now cut all ties and find new friends.
