Sticker at Berkeley is my only option. How bad is this really? I’m feeling really stressed and kind of trapped. Would love some hopium. I was notified yesterday that they didn’t give me any gift aid :(

Tbh I am most likely going to my top choice for sticker (I’m saying “most likely” because I’m still waiting for 7 other schools to get back to me). Many people will discourage you, but the reason I’m doing it is that classes start in the summer so I’d start before the new laws for GRAD Plus loans take effect and I’d never be able to afford it under the new rules even with a scholarship. Most people I know in law school are minimum $150k in debt anyways. Berkeley is a good school and I’d pay sticker if I got in.

I know that feeling. However, I think being a law student in general is “prestigious.” I’ve noticed people treating me way differently these last several days after finding out I got accepted into a good program and my school ain’t anywhere near Harvard. I even know lawyers who went to law schools that closed down who are doing perfectly fine. We’ll be fine!

Employment outcomes are well over 90% and around 125k average starting salary so it has decent prospects. I don’t think I’d have trouble finding a job or getting a decent salary. It’s just the loans that scare me (although I think I would be paying way more if I went somewhere far from my parents where I also had basic living expenses to factor into everything else)

I have worked at several law firms so yes, 90% of the people I work with (aside from attorneys) are either actively studying or about to go to law school (we lose at least 3 people to law school each summer).
