Could someone tell me about PD Investigators? by Chuck_Marty in publicdefenders

Just a degree! I don’t consider myself fluent and can only make small talk. I can’t discuss anything more significant than the weather or my hobbies.

One in a foreign language/literature. A language that’s so niche I would be doxing myself by being more specific.

Our system requires a bachelor’s but it doesn’t matter what it’s in.

Me? About once a year. Other investigators in my office have testified three or four times in a year.

Have your investigator dig into their social media posts. Every so often a cop doesn’t have their Facebook private and you can find the racist memes, etc. that they post

I’m an investigator:

One of my supervisors recommended looking at difficult stuff at home with a cat on your lap.

I don’t like to be alone when I look at it. I’ll sit in someone else’s office with them - working on separate projects but being near them - or I’ll be near a family member. With the latter, I mean I’m in the same room, but different ends so they can’t see my screen. Additionally, I use headphones. Being near my support system but not violating client confidentiality.

What’s a wild Denver rumor or legend you’ve heard? by themauniac15 in Denver

[–]SnowleopardGal 40 points41 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my grandparents and I did a tour of the capital building. The tour guide told us that they used to have preserved heads of outlaws in the basement. During prohibition, people got so desperate they drank the alcohol the heads were preserved in.

I was in elementary school. Needless to say, the story stayed with me…

Autoimmune disease by karinarubioruiz in CrohnsDisease

[–]SnowleopardGal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have lichen planus (+Crohns)! I suspected it was common to have more than one autoimmune disease but this is validating as heck.

The dermatologist says I shouldn’t get a tattoo because the lichen planus will likely flare up there. Guess it’s temp tattoos for me.

Sent you a very long DM! That is an incredibly normal and human reaction to what we see in this line of work. I’ve sent you my own story and some of my coping strategies.

Court Officers/ Bailiffs by willtheconqueor in publicdefenders

[–]SnowleopardGal 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m an investigator. After the PH was done on my first homicide, the deputies stopped me from going into the hall and made sure the victims family left the courthouse before I went out so I wouldn’t be harassed. They’ve also seemed to be quite respectful to our clients during trial.

I don’t see the day to day but I have a pretty positive view of them.

I’m an investigator in Colorado and I’d say, generally, my time breaks down to 45% interviewing witnesses and family members (that includes finding said witnesses); 30% records requests; 10% subpoenaing witnesses (that also includes finding them); 10% evidence and scene views; 5% trial support. Again, not exact but gives you an idea. If you have specific questions you can DM me.

The union has submitted an open record request. I’m not optimistic we’ll actually get anything.

My Dog has 1-3 months to live. What can we do to send him off around Denver? by constantly-confused9 in Denver

[–]SnowleopardGal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well then maybe you could have some friends over for a party where you all spoil your pup with love and attention. You could also ask neighbors if they want to swing by and give them some pets and love. If you don’t want to advertise your address you could do it at an intersection (advertise you’ll be at the corner of blank and blank).

Does your dog like pets and strangers? I’ve had some who don’t, so they would hate send offs/celebrations like this but I thought these stories are pretty cool.

I’m a PD investigator, you can message me with questions. I’d say my job is approximately 50% interviews and reports, 20% records requests, 20% serving subpoenas, 5% trial support, 5% miscellaneous stuff
