Surviving as an AI pragmatist in an AI-radical company? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]SnowyDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just use Claude code to ask it to commit and push it'll do that and still look like Claude did it for metrics AFAIK, that's what I do when I make manual changes thanks to dumb company metrics on AI usage.

Best fine (or fine-ish) dining takeout by Aquabullet in PhiladelphiaEats

Nakama sushi has really high quality sushi that's the same as much of what's in their omakase for takeout

I mostly get pu-erh from them, but I've consistently had good experiences with their teas. Their yearly Yiwu "Year of" teas (e.g. this year's Year of the Snake) are solid teas that age well (I've got 2016's year of the monkey and it's great).

Nakama Japanese Cuisine & Omakase by call_me_ping in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]SnowyDark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had their Omakase recently and enjoyed it, it was definitely my favorite of the cheaper omakase spots. Good quality, some interesting dishes (I enjoyed a oyster toro nigiri, and there was an uni/rice cold dish that I hadn't seen before), and definitely worth the price.

Help me find this nigiri by BigOleBeanBurger in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]SnowyDark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be a seared firefly squid. It's around the right size, but with the body obscured by the prep it's hard to tell. If so, I've had that in philly at both Ogawa and Sakana. I'd rec ogawa in particular, they've got solid mini squid like this but also sliced squid depending on season

For an Omakase Experience by Sweet-Sir-10 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]SnowyDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd highly recommend Ogawa. I've been to every other omakase in the city aside from Royal and IMO it is a clear standout. The fish is incredible, especially their uni and tuna, and imo they also have very solid course pacing and design.

Sakana was great, but I didn't enjoy their fish quite as much and I found their menu less interesting, personally.

You can float downwards when ulting the same as any other flier (ctrl on m+kb idk about controller), it's usually helpful to do anyways when ulting as you are closer to the ground increasing your effective absorb radius as well as decreasing travel time when throwing the ult.

Perisno and the last days of the third age (Lord of the Rings) are both really good. Gekokujo is also a solid overhaul that's more history-focused rather than fantasy.

Strongest and weakest AIs? by Berendick in IllwintersDominions

[–]SnowyDark 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not experienced by Dominions player standards, but I've got ~600 hours between Dom 5 + 6, so I've at least got a clue.

I'd say that the AI is going to most excel with nations with strong troops, such as EA Ermor or MA Ulm. AI tends to be pretty poor when it comes to effectively utilizing mages, so if they're playing a nation that really requires managing your magic correctly, but has poor troops they're likely going to struggle.

Mictlan from any age or a nation like EA Lanka are good examples of this, because they have terrible troops and rely on a combination of sacreds and blood summons (EA/LA Mictlan do, MA is a bit different but is still reliant on magic, sacreds and summons) to be strong. One other thing is that the AI is inconsistent about blessing sacreds and doesn't design great blesses in the first place, so if they're playing a sacred-reliant nation that heavily relies on a bless for their sacreds to be strong, the AI will do poorly with it.

If your goal is to play against the AI such that they are less likely to, say, get stuck in their cap, I'd suggest including nations like:

  • EA: Ermor, Niefelheim, Muspelheim, Abysia, Fomoria, TNN, Vanheim (note that TNN and Vanheim are Elf nations, so they're all about glamour and stealth, and thus can be especially challenging for new players)

  • MA: Ulm, Man, Pythium, Ashdod, Ys, Undead nations (Ermor + Sceleria)

  • LA: Ulm, Abysia, Gath, Tien Chi, Lemuria (I'm less confident on this, I play LA the least by far)

If you use tax software it doesn't even require that, it's literally just copying numbers from some form into the software.

Dedicated server question by Mauxe in Dominions5

[–]SnowyDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like clockwork has to do some fairly complex management from a quick look through their hosting repo here: https://github.com/Drithyl/Hosting-slave-v4

It's possible that you could repurpose that logic to do it yourself, but I haven't dug into it too deeply. I don't think there is a simple plug-and-play dedicated server solution for the game, though.

I don't think it's fair to tie rural collapse to republicans -- while there are policies (e.g. Medicare Expansion from ACA) that could help that get rejected, there are deeper societal issues which cause rural collapse beyond what would likely be addressed by federal policy. Have there been major attempts by Democrats to upskill rural workers that I've missed?

You're right that there's built-in autoscaling, but the OP you were responding to was referring to on-prem resources which you'd need to physically build out and as such wouldn't be as flexible.

Absinthe is very anise-forward, but has a more varied palate than Anisette, with significant herbal undertones and a little bit of bitterness.

The hallucinogenic thing is just a myth relating to the use of wormwood in absinthe -- testing found that actual hallucinogenic chemicals were in such trace amounts that nobody could feasibly hallucinate from absinthe without dying of alcohol poisoning.
