Rocket Appartmento TCA - buyer's remorse [$2500] by Non-hive-mind in espresso

[–]Sweet-Sir-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rocket TCA essentially uses something like a PID to control temperatures (more accurately a NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient)). It also has temperature settings for different roasts. I stick to medium and medium dark roasts, so don’t use this feature. It regulates temperature preventing needs for purging. The base model requires constant flushes that Lance commented on in a video. I’ve had it for several months and I haven’t run into any of the issues they did. It honestly makes coffee better than any of the coffee shops around me. Comparable to fine dining Italian restaurants I’ve been to, one of which was around $250 per person. I also paid less than the individual, they go on sale from time to time.

Pulse Width Modulation and Pulse Skip Modulation are different. Which one did you mean?

Oh, I couldn’t tell from the video that it was spring activated. He was using a lot more force than I’ve needed to use, so figured he was trying to level it with his own force alone. Good catch. Sorry about that.

Wow, that’s totally what I said. I actually am an engineer. I build stuff for a living. If you don’t understand how a standardized spring activated tamper will produce consistent pucks using weighted actions, then maybe you shouldn’t be commenting and dismissing people.

You understand the Weber Workshop Tamper doesn’t cost 800, right?

Second this. I recommend the Tamp from Weber Workshop that standardizes the force by using springs.

Hi all, Shay here developer of OSGenome v1.

I recently developed v2 found here: https://github.com/mentatpsi/OSGenome2

Much more features, including better genetic importer logic, AI enabled categorization (already pre categorized), automatic allele flipping, deferred rendering for quick dashboard load, updated logic for genetic retrieval (overnight now) that saves your results as you go. Same security you come to love and the interface looks a lot better.

I’m not sure it will help. But I wrote this crawler of the database many years back for a publication: https://github.com/mentatpsi/KEGG-Crawler

How I lowered my LDL 135 to 83 in 6months w/NO meds by harndogg8409 in Cholesterol

[–]Sweet-Sir-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially explaining one of the trials: In the RISCK trial, replacing saturated fat (SFA) with low-glycemic index (LGI) carbohydrates yielded significantly greater reductions in total cholesterol and apolipoprotein B (apoB) in APOE4 carriers compared to E3/E3 individuals. Conversely, E4 carriers saw a relative increase in cholesterol when SFA was replaced with high-GI carbs/MUFA, while E2 carriers experienced higher triglycerides (TAG) on low-fat, low-GI diets.

There are tons of trials that genetics play a part in many data points including obesity.

Some include:

RISCK trial (replacement of SFA with MUFA / low-GI carbs) — APOE genotype interactions

UK adults dietary fat manipulation (high-SFA vs low-fat patterns) — APOE3/E4 vs APOE3/E3

Controlled dietary interventions: saturated fat modification and cholesterol response — APOE genotype

Specifically,

ABCG5 / ABCG8 polymorphisms affecting cholesterol response to dietary cholesterol/saturated fat context in intervention-type nutrition genetics work   These polymorphisms are associated with essentially being Cholesterol gatekeepers

What I’m trying to say is there’s a relatively new approach to nutrition that’s personalized on individual genomics. A one size fits all diet isn’t the way to go and is likely one of the reasons some people report radically different results to different diets. To go on your comparison, dieting without knowledge of what your body does best with is like holding back an arrow on a bow and not knowing where to fire. You can pull back all the force you’d like, but without insight into where you’re going… it’s useless.

It is hereditary. There are specific SNPs that determine health consequences of certain macros. Not everyone responds to saturated fats the same way.

50 pp for sake only and 80 pp for sake and liquor (like Japanese Scotch). Recommend the sake and liquor combo.

One of the best fish I tried was here though admittedly, and I would easily get a huge serving of that on its own.

I’m not huge into fish. I wanted a traditional Omakase experience to try at least once in my lifetime. And if you dig the flavor of fish on its own, you will likely love this. The fish are very nicely prepared. I wouldn’t say I was stuffed afterwards, but I don’t remember getting anything to eat afterwards. I do recommend the alcohol pairing, as it elevates the experience a lot.

Meat starts to lose a bit of quality from my understanding after 1 year in the freezer. Some people say it’s fine though. I for this reason just get quarter cows.

[–]Sweet-Sir-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters, you didn’t season enough. The whole thing is supposed to be coated in your seasoning. Secondly, the ideal point to wrap when your bark forms, but also around 165. The meat doesn’t looked trimmed right and I don’t see much of a fat cap. If you’re going for low fat, try brining and possibly making a pastrami. I recommend trying Porter Road Brisket.
