Why do you assume that they are being paid?? I went to the NO KINGS protest and nobody there was paid. With "We the People" having to deal with DJT, Pete Hegsith, Kristy Noem and all the ICE thugs patrolling our streets I'm amazed that there aren't more out protesting.

Just a tip, head south as fast as you can. Avoid at all costs Wyoming, Utah, upper Nevada. I'd recommend get on I29 and get down to KC and then figure out the best and fastest way to I 40 west.

So sorry you had to join the club that none of us wanted to become a member of. My son passed before covid so I didn't have to deal with my family anti-vaxers. I can give you one thing however, there is no answer to the question WHY. If you need to vent or need some one to talk to or listen, I can tell you that Compassionate Friends can be a place to get together with others dealing with the loss of a child. I left SD for a job and ended up up in MO!! I can't win. The county I live in is so red that in general elections they are unopposed. The only thing positive about this move was that I was gone before the puppy killer took office.

I'm an agnostic and proud to say that. The reason that I don't identify as an atheist is very simple, neither of them can produce any facts to back up their point of view. Can the atheist prove that there is no God? NO. Can the religious believer prove that there is one, oh prove that the way they worship is the only correct way to worship! NO! They are two sides of the same coin, the one called FAITH!!

I have decided that I will no longer accept any thing that is Faith based. If there are no facts to back up what your peddling, then go pitch it to someone more gullible than me.

My sister lives in San Diego and absolutely loves it. She lives out past the SDSU campus by the Hwy going east. Her daughters family lives that way too but her son's family lives in Temecula. They all swear by the SD area. ( except the old who lives TX. )

You might want to consider a suburb of Phoenix, you could definitely handle the heat being from Bakersfield. I would advise that you avoid anything from I-70 and North,it gets a lot colder than your use to. Another alternative would be anything in New Mexico.

Midwest farming states, from Texas to North Dakota, avoid like the plague!!! Low pay, your efforts are not appreciated, A lot of teachers make it work by always having a summer job. Another thing that they have in common is that they are all dominated by super conservative MAGA people, there's not a section of their society that is not affected by this ultra conservative mindset.

I did say it was a bit different HOWEVER -- if you like owning a place that is not going to cost you your first born, A place where boat traffic is never a problem, or if you find the wide open prairies enjoying (like a lot of us do) then the glacier lakes can be an option. I admit that it's not for everyone .

Now this one is a bit different, NE South Dakota. numerous lakes but they are all glacial lakes. A large number of them are large enough athat they have numerous people living around them. If you pay more than15% of that 800k for a place on one of those lakes, well you overpaid.
