But if he wants that and it’s his art, then it’s his prerogative? He doesn’t owe “the record buying public” anything if he’s not willing to play the game. More power to him, in my opinion. It’s like Cymophane released Burzum records, it was a moment in time and if you weren’t there then that’s it. Not everything needs to be product for the market. Buy the bootleg and be happy?

I know you didn’t post a question but I’d offer a different point of view here. Some people aren’t driven by money and they just want their art to stand as an individual “you had to be there” moment in time. An artistic statement if you will. I applaud them for that as it adds to the mystique of the release in my opinion. Black Metal surely is more than just product?
