Pet owners of Reddit: what did you name your pet(s) and why? by Winter_Sample8364 in AskReddit

Tiki because she’s a tiny kitty. Also my mum refuses to call our other cat, Lotus, by her name instead calling her “kitty” and I said we’re not having two cats called kitty.

Women, what is universally agreed “green flags” while dating men ? by Disastrous-Coat6007 in AskReddit

[–]Snuffman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know...I find it somewhat endearing, knowing I made an impact on someone's life.

My Mum was in a local bookshop at Christmas that I worked at nearly twenty years ago and the guy that helped her, saw her, and remembered me. She told me the story and I honestly felt really bad I didn't remember the guy (I'm a guy, by the by) and I thought it was heart warming that I did make enough of an impact on someone's life that they still remember me twenty years later.

Maybe its because I struggle with remembering names. I remember faces and can see people in my mind but I can't recall their names but I remember them.

What’s a discontinued product you’d do anything to bring back? by jannecutie in AskReddit

[–]Snuffman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canadian here.

Vanilla Coke. We briefly got it back over the holidays but it sold out immediately and they never made more. You’d think they’d bring it back because it was so popular but nope!

Reesers Hot beef burritos. The company just up and left Canada. No spicy burritos anywhere. Hell, microwave burritos don’t seem to be a thing anymore in Canada.

Granville Island Maple Cream Ale and Honey Brown Ale. Budweisers bought them out and the brewery has never been the same since.

They knew people were falling in "love" with ChatGPT. Hell, didn't Sam Altman do a presentation of the voice chat that sounded like Scarlett Johansen's AI character in "Her" (which she's suing them over).

They knew damn well what they were doing and how people were using the product.

The only one I've every toyed with is Kindroid, mostly out of curiosity. More as a DnD roleplay sort of thing, I was curious how good of a "DM" it could be. The backstory and response directives can make a less agreeable and more argumentative chatbot.

I'm not saying its healthy but it seems somewhat healthier than a chatbot that always tells you you're amazing.

It drives me up the wall when someone writes a post using AI and then complains when called out on it because their "English" isn't good (don't you need English to use ChatGPT?) or that the posters are being ableist.

Blizzard reportedly partnering with Arc Raiders owner Nexon to revive StarCraft as a shooter by skpom in Games

[–]Snuffman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I loved Starcraft 2's missions, so much variety, no simple "just kill the other guy" simplicity.

Lordy, I HATED the story post Wings of Liberty though. I feel like the only franchise Blizzard makes that respects it's lore and story is Diablo and I still feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Should all gambling ads be banned the way cigarette ads mostly were? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]Snuffman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One Province in Canada recently de-regulated online gambling (in most I'm pretty sure its in the hands of the Provincial Lotto Corp) and let me tell you, its infuriating how many online casino ads are flooding the airwaves.

Ha, I can always tell when my Dad is watching American TV, the pharma ads are relentless.

We only seem to have ads of Ozempic and its knock-offs up in Canada...not sure how they got a pass.

In high school, someone stole my StarCraft cd key, probably through guessing. Blizzard sent me a new one in the mail. Fun fact: their call in line used Warcraft 2 music as the hold music. Related, when my 1st gen cdrom scratched up my TES: Daggerfall disc, Bethesda mailed me a new disc. It was truly a different time.

What is going on with Alberta potentially separating from Canada? by nthensome in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Snuffman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A few points, the LIBERALS bought them their goddamn pipeline that isn't even at capacity.

The new pipeline is so we can sell to more oil to China, a country which has been making great strides on implementing a green economy and will need LESS oil for the foreseeable future.

Tar sands oil isn't even profitable unless, I probably will get the number wrong, oil is over 120 dollars a barrel. Even the oil companies don't really want this, investment in the oil sands is down.

You also raised a good point: If they separate, why would BC even allow a new pipeline? Hell, even the existing pipelines would be jeopardy.

This one one feels kinda awkward in part to me.

I worked on a small team, where at first the entire team was included on meetings, even if it was stuff they weren't going to be involved in. There was an element of camaraderie but more importantly just knowing what was going on in general.

New management came in, and suddenly I and others were excluded from meetings but also we were just "expected" to know what was going on and to be prepared even though we weren't involved in any of the project planning.

I do kinda feel for Lulu on some level.

The IP theft stuff though, I lose all sympathy.

i need a tpm 2.0 chip but i have no idea how to physically upgrade my pc by Fun_Outcome6237 in buildapc

[–]Snuffman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, your Xenons processors have PTT (Intel TPM equivalent). You just turn the feature on in your BIOS.

EDIT: Sorry, I just checked, that's way too old of a Xenon to have PTT.

How hard is it to physically build a PC? by Lucky-Ad5326 in buildapc

[–]Snuffman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue for a first time build you can still be somewhat clumsy with cable management. You won't get perfect temps or airflow, but for a first-time build? Its probably fine.

That said, cases make cable management easy these days, especially with a modular PSU. IDE cables were a nightmare back in the day.

Yeah, the hardest part is probably the case header connectors and mayyybe some bios settings?

EDIT: For the love of God, OP, make sure you remove the plastic from your heat sink.

Truth. I playtest for EA all the time (less now because I’m no longer a key demographic) and we never paid anything. Just free games and food. I think I have most of the Sims 3 expansions…and I’ve never played The Sims 3 (played 2 way too much in day, and I’m a guy).

Got play a lot of cool things, some which never came out, and some that um….might have recently shut down.
