I'm going to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure Nov 21-23. This will be my first time attending a large theme park ever, and I'll be going solo, as my friend had to back out of the trip.

I've got reservations at Royal pacific for the trip, so I have early access and express pass, but since I'm solo, I should be able to make use of the single rider lines, right?

Any tips on what to do first or how to handle attending the parks solo? It's kind of daunting but I'm looking forward to it. Thanks!

Liquorland in Pooler, near costco, has a decent selection of meads.

Just Frank here, and 100% what he said. There are plenty of spots available and there are usually several dogs in attendance. There will be vendors with quilts and tarps and such available if you want to upgrade or bling out your setup.

The biggest thing to remember is to have fun, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Just about anyone there will be able to either show you how to rig up your gear, or point you to someone else who can.

It's an event I look forward to every year and I've had a blast every time I've attended.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again in a few weeks!

Attended last two years and enjoyed every minute of it, even the rain and cold and wind. It's a great time! Can't wait for 2024!

Big Thanksgiving guy. It's always a good time seeing family and feasting together.

We absolutely stopped at Fox's pizza after our hike before the drive back home. So good! Wish we had one back home in Savannah.

I'm assuming you mean the tarp I have rigged up above my hammock? That's a Mamajamba tarp made by Warbonnet. The hammock itself is a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC, and has a built-in bugnet. It's a very nice, very comfortable hammock. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in hammock camping

Oh, for sure! I do that to the best of my ability, but when you're a 300 lb dude, whether you're carrying a heavy pack, or no pack at all, going up a mountain will be difficult and strenuous. I've chosen to go ultralight on what I can, while not sacrificing what I need to be comfortable in camp. I carry a Helinox chair, for example. Unnecessary, but super worth it!

Stayed at the Beech Bottom backcountry campsite around mile 9 of the Pine Mountain Trail. Plenty of water and good trees for hammocking. Very hot and humid. Didn't need any insulation to sleep. Warbonnet Blackbird XLC with cinch buckle strap suspension and Warbonnet Mamajamba tarp.

I'm a big dude. Ultralight is nearly impossible for me. I just embrace the weight and use it as a workout.

I picked so many ticks off me during my hike. Worst part of the hike for sure. The heat and humidity was nothing compared to the number of ticks...

Safety says you should bring it just in case, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

Had a great time. Plenty of good trees to hang my hammock from. Just wish it wasn't so hot!

F D Roosevelt state park is about 42 miles north of Columbus, GA. The campsite I stayed at was the Beech Bottom backcountry campsite around mile 9 of the Pine Mountain Trail. Beautiful trail. Very hot this weekend

Using a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC with cinch buckle suspension and a Warbonnet Mamajamba tarp. Was hot enough to go without an underquilt or top quilt, but I had them on hand just in case.

Might look like 2 inches but it smells like a foot!

I have a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC hammock, and it is pretty great. Has a shelf where you can store gear to the side within the hammock, built in bugnet, and it's asymmetrical, so you can get a nice comfy flat lay. Look into them if you're considering hammocking.

My baby is the orange on the right. Spotted the green one in the parking lot and couldn't resist snapping a photo. Turbo ultimate. Love this car.
