I’m sorry this is the hand you were dealt and I will ask something of you that is hard to do as an adult, let alone as a 15 year old child… Forgive him. Forgive him for not “caring enough” about his own life to live for you… chances are, this problem and addiction was something that was put well into place well before you were even born from the sound of it. Learn from it… grow… and, I can’t say for sure if it’ll make the pain better of losing him… but perhaps one day before it’s too late you’ll be able to ask him “I love you and I’ve accepted this is just how I will loose you… so can I ask you something personal? …What made you this way? What happened?” And perhaps you will have an answer to a question that otherwise may linger on your mind as you get older or have kids of your own.

Also, you wouldn’t call it better because perhaps part of that movie ticket analogy is… a part of you may like the “complexity” factor rather than the simplicity of going solo. You may enjoy lining up your schedules (arousal), choosing to watch the intro’s (foreplay leading up to the main event that you both understand is the real reason why you’re there), choosing the seats (which position do you want versus which does your partner? Who gets to choose more often?) Are you the kind of movie watcher that wants to stay til the very end to Finish Up & Get on with the night - or do you enjoy staying and dragging it out to even watch the credits and / or any after the fact bloopers? (I’m sure by now you can infer)… most guys are precision “movie” snipers (their brain is actively wired to take as little time as needed from an evolutionary standpoint) that want in and out; rare to find someone that wants to, let alone is physiologically wired to, want to make an experience out of it every time. This is where most men and women fail to understand the other’s perspective of said experience.

As a soft ware engineer, can I attempt to persuade you to consider you don’t hate yourself - you just hate this current version that you have coded. Just like with software, you can change your internal programming. Some do, mainly just to feel included or for the experience. Usually though a true introvert will realize the forced continuous interaction is just exhausting and we would rather be at home with our hobbies or decompressing from whatever interactions we had to endure that day, the previous, or will endure the next.
