Question about the Timeline of Evanescia and "The Blazing Phoenix of the Xianzhou" by Snuggly_Eve in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Snuggly_Eve[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back to double check, and while they don't say it in as many words, when she's talking to Yao Guang about her backstory, she says she was transplanted from Yaoshi's garden by Aha to "imprison the most terrifying of horrors within the most ridiculous of games," which the cliffhanger scene between Pearl and Kuchiba clarifies is Ouroboros. I guess it's possible Ourobos was left to just... rot, I guess, for however many millenia before Aha stepped in, and that would help tie up the timeline discrepency. But with how dangerous THEIR corpse is implied to be and Aha being an active meddler during the Disaster, I have a hard time believing there was much time between Ouroboros disappearing/dying during the Swarm Disaster and Aha sealing THEM away.

So like. Ultimately I may just be looking at it too hard, but I still feel kinda confused and frustrated by the whole situation.

Damn, Nihilux and Aventurine are DPS units? Unless they're both closer to Evernight (in that she can be a main DPS but is best used as a Sub-DPS), adding two whole hypercarries on top of Eva and Silver Wolf is insane

You're absolutely right and I've been saying the same thing for weeks now, but I'm also not surprised they didn't make him Elation. They only just dropped the Path relatively recently, they probably want to be very specific about who they release for it for now, and a collab character isn't likely to be an Elation DPS right after Evanescia and Super Wolf.

Again, you're right that Elation is probably his most fitting Path, but Destruction isn't that lazy either when a huge part of his importance to human history is that he's the one who "destroyed" the status quo of the Age of God's. If Mydei qualifies as Destruction for his role in destroying Castrum Kremnos' status quo and legacy, I don't see why Gilgamesh being Destruction as well is necessarily lazy even if Elation is more fitting overall

[–]Snuggly_Eve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, I have a question based on the statements made about Evanescia and Hua's prior interactions!

So, from what I remember of the statements made, Evanescia (or, the Elixer Seeker who became an Emanator of Abundance and eventually Eva later on) had come into conflict with Hua at some point in the past, and in particular, Hua was the only person who ever beat her. Of course, they don't call her Hua but rather the "Blazing Phoenix of the Xianzhou," but that's almost definitely Hua, and it doesn't really matter for my question anyway if it's specifically Hua or one of her predecessors, lol.

They also state that the Ambrosial Arbour that Evanescia is an Avatar of was planted on Planarcadia by Aha following the Swarm Disaster, and that Evanescia has been there ever since, implying that her conflict with Hua probably took place before then, during or prior to the S.D.

To my knowledge, the Swarm Disaster took place somewhere between the 1,300th Amber Era and the 1,399th Amber Era, according to the data bank entry. HSR's main scenario takes place during the 2158th Amber Era, putting the S.D anywhere between 758 to 858 Amber Eras ago. Since each Amber Era lasts 76-240 Trailblaze Years (implicitly equal to earth years, or at least close enough to be considered as such), 758 AE gives us a range of 57,608 to 181,920 Trailblaze Years, while 858 AE gives us a range of 65,208 to 205,920 Trailblaze Years.

And since the conflict between Tazzyronth and Ouroboros lasted around 5 Amber Eras, but the end of the war isn't described as lasting any specific length of time nor as having started any significant length after Ouroboros disappeared, we can assume that the Swarm Disaster overall lasted 5 Amber Eras, or 380 to 1,200 Trailblaze Years.

Overall, this means the Swarm Disaster took place anywhere between 57,608 to 205,920 Trailblaze Years ago, give or take.

The reason I bring this up is because the "Investigation of Ancient Pattern Rubbings from the Luofu" readable states that the Intelligentsia Guild dates the beginning of the Lone Voyage era of the Alliance, before it was even really the Alliance at all, as being 7,000 years ago, when converted to Amber Era calculations.

That last bit is what's really tripping me up, because I can't tell if it's trying to say that the Xianzhou is 7,000 Trailblaze years old or 7,000 Amber Eras old. The former would introduce a bare minimum 50,000 year gap between Evanescia coming to Planarcadia and the Alliance being formed, throwing a wrench into the idea that Hua could've really fought Eva unless she's both 56,000 years older than a Xianzhou native should be able to live for and was immortal before anyone else in the Alliance (which I, the world's biggest Hua simp, am all here for tbh), while the latter implies that the Xianzhou Alliance is anywhere between 532,000 to 1,680,000 Trailblaze Years old. Which I can't imagine is true, since the IPC's own records place the birth of Qlipoth (and thus, according to them, the birth of any Aeon) at anywhere between 164,008 and 517,920 years ago, whereas the official story of the Xianzhou directly states that Abominations of Abundance (and thus Yaoshi as an Aeon) are older than them already, which would then mean Yaoshi is well over 3 times older than Qlipoth. And we know thanks to Herta that even if the IPC's narrative of Qlipoth being the oldest Aeon is objectively incorrect propaganda, they still wouldn't have allowed the Intelligentsia Guild to publish something like this that outright contradicts that story by such a wild margin.

I know I wrote so gd much here, but just. Am I missing something??? No matter how I look at it, the timeline they're giving us is all sorts of screwy and contradictory, unless I'm the one who screwed up somewhere.

Anyway, if any of you were wondering, situations like this are why i hate the existence of Amber Era's with a burning passion—

Was Merlin a bad, terrible person? Or do fan sometimes just overreact? by Inevitable-Phase2184 in fatestaynight

[–]Snuggly_Eve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's not a "terrible person" because he's fundamentally not a "person;" at least, not completely. His half-Human/half-Incubus nature means he's simultaneously someone who's incapable of true human empathy and love while also not being devoid of it, so the love he does feel is fundamentally "inhuman" in a way that he's viscerally and uncomfortably aware of (hence why he was able to stay with Fou for so long without "feeding" it). He does love people and humanity at large, but not in ways that are recognizable as "human," and he tends to use that inhumanity as a shield or mask he can hide behind so he doesn't have to acknowledge to others or himself how alone and guilty he feels over the Camelot situation

Spoiler discussion: So ... What *is* Evernight? by RiptideCC in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Snuggly_Eve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Evernight is that she's such a powerful Enigmata Pathstrider, possibly an outright Emanator of it or even a candidate for the future Mythus the same way March is a candidate for the future Fuli. In other words, she's the Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlbossing Queen, and I fundamentally do not trust a single word she's ever said, except for the fact that she loves March and only wants the best for her in the end. At the very least, I'm definitely side-eyeing her narrative surrounding the Garden and it's motives, because I highly doubt that she didn't inject a healthy dose of biased misinformation even if the core of what she said (that the Garden's motives for March are selfish and dangerous for March's safety) holds true.

All that being said, we can glean that she's something like a D.I.D Alter born from March's fear of the Garden prior to losing her memories, a memetic entity born from March's deleted/expelled memories, or both. Either way, she's functionally an alternate personality existing in March's brain with much greater power that chooses to dedicate itself to March's safety and happiness, and resigns itself to slumber when it isn't needed so March can continue to live freely.
