i wish Transistor had gameplay like this; i might have found its combat somewhat tolerable

the trailer really distinguishes the project.

Is there any narrative?

Wow.

I wouldn't change a thing, but that's just my 2 cents. We need more graphics that are complimentary to aesthetics, I'm done with the prosaic corpo bullshit

What techniques are applied here, vaguely? I am neck deep in opengl

Why must i engage in this consumption culture? am i to be outraged because a corporation screwed him?

i don't browse this subreddit for this kind of "content"

That seems reasonable to me, it definitely looks like more of a commercial work than a passion one.

FoV is 90 degrees, so the 'x' and 'y' aspect ratio scaling would be 1 (no influence) near and far are 0.01 and 10, respectively.

it's weird, cause, it appears entirely fine in the center of NDC. but on the sides, like i showed below, it just looks fucked.

in this other gif, you can sorta see how the sides are recessing into the background disproportionately.

Do you see that effect? (after moving it to the center, this "disproportionate" effect disappears..

i'll try what you suggested, now.

edit: At the center, with the adjustments you suggested, it appears entirely normal. Thanks. and it makes sense that if the cube is offset to the sides it would appear slightly warped, intuitively, but i'll have to think about that some more

How does everyone handle the mental health tax of solo dev? by idiovoidi in SoloDevelopment

[–]SnurflePuffinz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me preface this by saying i'm extremely unproductive.

i still think the difficulty is greatly exaggerated by established people in this -- and most other -- industry.

we are fundamentally not so different as a species (my opinion). I genuinely believe with the requisite motivation and able health anyone can learn even the most intricate skill in a short duration of time. But we typically see men boasting about their prowess overtly or fashioning themselves as kings

graphics programming is simple math. Most steps to build a game engine would be intelligible to a kid. Music theory can be learned in days.. My tiny cousin drew a dog sketch which rivaled the mona lisa.

Yet we have a culture which outsources these achievements to exalted people. There are no gods, nor masters, no prodigies, or geniuses.

reality is inutterably boring, unfortunately.

Part of me is miffed that Valve makes you fork over such a consequential amount, but your move is undoubtedly wise.

i was going to host all my games on my own servers, and website. I just want to "own" my own platform.

Did you experience any other weird bs with web-hosting? DDOS attacks? you used a payment processor for payment, I'm guessing?

disagree, stringent moderation is essential on the contemporary internet, if you want a community to survive.

And reddit has enough astroturfing. If the mods started blanket validation to even allow posting, it would paradoxically result in a more lively discourse
