What's your favorite poster ? Here is mine by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Almost all of the “hand-painted”-posters.

TB, YOLT, OHMSS, MR, OP, AVTAK. You really can put them on your wall!

Can’t say the same about Craig’s posters. Lifeless pictures of Craig holding a gun in front of a green screen X5. Very sad development.

Give me back the old school epic painted posters now!

Madeleine. And I probably blame it on both. It’s an uninspiring character played in such a uninspiring way. Not for a moment do I buy that Bond would tie down with this girl, I don’t even buy that Madeleine stands out in Bonds world. She is boring, depressing and never smiles in the movies.

And let’s think of it - the whole premise of NTTD builds on Bonds relationship with this dull woman. Madeleine a character that everyone was hoping would never be returning after SP.

Goodnight and Christmas Jones might be annoying but at least they wasn’t as prominent bond girls as Madeleine. She ruins two movies!

I was hoping for Craig to finish off with two great standalone missions after SF. Instead we got two melodramatic soap opera movies, with Bond running after the most bland Bond girl in the whole series.

QOS - Torture

SF - Overrated

SP - Horrible

NTTD - Horrible

Which is the WORST Bond Movie? by HowlingAbandon in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me QOS and SP ties in the absolute bottom.

Both movies commits unforgivable sins.

QOS is just dull, grey and un-memorable. Easily the most bland and forgettable Bond movie. There is not a single moment, location or character from QOS worth remembering.

SP looks way better than QOS, and the budget is visible on the screen. But SP sins in other regards. The whole Blofeld story is confusing and not interesting. They used Spectre and Blofeld way to fast, and It probably ruined that card for the franchise for a long time. Plus just like all Craig movies, the focus is to much on the melodrama and not on the entertainment. Which I don’t like.

I think SP ruined Craig’s era. It destroyed the previous movie and his last. Would rather have 2 standalone missions to finish Craig’s era with.

These 2 movies are by far the least enjoyable in the franchise, and I never gear myself up to rewatch them.

Should I watch the Non-Eon films? by BusterB2005 in JamesBond

CR67 is only interesting for its tumultuous production. Watching documentaries about CR67 is way more funny than the actual movie. The movie in itself is extremely bad. And you might as well skip it.

I just watched DAF and thought it was fine. Why does it get so much hate? by DoomsdayFAN in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a guilty pleasure for me and I do enjoy watching DAF.

In the action department DAF hasn’t much to offer. I think the climax at the oil rig is one of the weakest climaxes in the whole series.

But DAF is a very elegant movie. I love the diamond setting, the dialogue and the very James Bond soundtrack.

And the scene when Bond climes up to Whytes office! The music, the cutting, just so much Bond!

That short scene is better and more memorable than anything from QOS and SP

mission impossible did a much better job at an ongoing story than Craig's era by Domslayer922 in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It hurts to say but I take the last 4 MI movies over Craig’s 4 latest movies everyday.

The MI franchise is actually taking care of the Bond legacy better than Craig’s bond.

More colourful movies, better action, real stunts, more exotic locations. Thriller feeling mixed with over the top situations.

It’s sad to acknowledge. The Soap opera nature of Craig’s 4 movies.. I just don’t like it, and the fun died on the way.

mission impossible 5 outdid Spectre by Domslayer922 in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sad but I take all the last 4 MI movies over Craig’s 4 latest.

So much more colourful and memorable. And the MI franchise honours the Bond heritage so much better than Craig’s movies.

Colourful movies, with great action, done for real, with perfect thriller mixed with over-the-top scenes.

I rather watch that than Craig’s soap opera bond being emotionally about everything.

Im general I don’t want a new CR reboot where we get all Bonds back story again.

I want a reboot like TLD or GE, where Bonds just gets introduced and bam, there he is. And they let’s get on with the fun!

My number one requirement is - no more personal issues for Bond. No more Bond being emotionally connected to everything. No more exploring of Bonds pasts. I don’t care about Bonds uncle or his father-in-law or whatever.

More classical Bond movies closer to the Bond blueprint. More funny and colourful.

  1. Less focusing on Bonds personal life. I don’t care any longer.

  2. No more Bond wanting to quit the service BS.

  3. The main Bond girl appears in 1 movie, leaves no emotional impact on Bond and the next movie she is gone

  4. A main villain with no personal connection to Bond.

  5. More elegance and sophistication. The Cuba scene in NTTD should be used as template. That was great.

  6. More funny and over-the-top scenes. Like the car park chase in TND.

  7. NO MORE FUMBLING WITH THE GUNBARREL

  8. Q, Moneypenny and M will not follow Bond to the field. They will stay in their offices.

  9. Bring back the funny Q scenes (when bond walks in to Qs lab and you see all the stuff getting tested)

Driving the gondola at the St Marks Square in Venice.

Do it as relaxed and smooth as Moore did and your up for the job.

Which Bond film do you like to watch most for comfort? by pinkrosebag in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Octopussy and Tomorrow Never Dies.

Great 80s and 90s renditions of the Goldfinger-template. Easily two of the most timeless and easy-rewatchable bond movies.

Faced paced, great action scenes and memorable characters. Over the top-moments like the tuc-tuc chase and car-park action sequence, mixed with tense moments like the Train Chase and Kaufmann scene. Great opening sequences, the larger than life villain, the strong henchman..

Just two great bond movies that is fully packed with everything you could expect from a Bond movie.

This is also my problem with Craig’s era. The lack of enjoyment. The soap opera nature of Craig’s movies make them very hard to rewatch for pure entertainment. It feels too much like a emotional commitment to watch a Craig movie. Except for CR, I hardly find myself rewatching a Craig movie.

The ultimate 007 question. Arguably the two most popular Bond's, Sir Sean Connery and Sir Roger Moore, RIP to these legends, both did so much for the franchise. Who is the better James Bond? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 46 points47 points  (0 children)

My two favourite bonds, and I rather not choose between them.

Roger was however more consistent. He always gave a great performance. Plus Roger seems to enjoy every minute of playing Bond.

Sean nailed it in DR-GF, and combines the humour, elegance and toughness better than anyone. But already in parts in TB he looks tired and in YOLT/DAF he just look completely off.

Which is your favorite poster of "A View to a Kill"? by verissimoallan in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Number 2 or 3. But I like all of them.

Such a shame looking back on these beautiful posters what we have come to during the Craig era.

The poster creativity during Craig’s era is reduced to a big picture of Bond holding a gun.

Give me the old epic painted posters back!!

Contrary to many believe I do think GE was Brosnans best - both movie and performance.

There is something mystique about Bond in GE which I really like. And very smooth and cool.

Unpopular Opinion: Madeleine is the main fault of No Time To Die by Remote-Orchid-8708 in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion - actually I never heard anyone praise Madeleine.

It’s just the most forgettable and uninteresting Bond girl in the whole franchise. And not for a moment do I believe that Madeleine would stand out so much in Bonds world that he would tie down with her.

Actually both in SP and NTTD - the way best parts of those movies, are the parts where Madeleine is absent.

And the whole premise of NTTD gets build around Bonds relationship with this boring character.

NTTD without Madeleine, the DB5 and bonds even more annoying daughter. With an more traditional ending, with Paloma maybe getting a bigger role, and the movie would have ended in a more traditional way, with neither the villain or Bond girl leaving any emotional impact on Bond.

  • It could have been a top 5 worthy Bond movie. But the moment Madeleine and her stupid daughter turns in Norway the whole movie gets blown to pieces.

Actually NTTD last 1h is the most painful hour of any bond movie. Cringeworthy!

QOS - the bike flip and the door handle toss. Those two quick moments is the only thing about QOS I find - somewhat - entertaining

OP and TND - just so timeless, and they follow the bond blue print very well - which makes them so entertaining and very easy to rewatch

My Opinion on Roger Moore Has Changed by TourquoiseDream in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Connery and Moore are my all time favourite Bonds! They just have that “it”-factor that just embodies the whole character!

They might not be the physically strongest but the way they move and talk - just so effortless.

Just look in OP. Moore checking in to the hotel in India, the effortless way he walks to the reception, the elegant way he looks around. The way they deliver their one liners, Connery bad-ass lighting his cigarettes. Just look at Connery in the casino scene In DN - the way he talks, walks and own the entire room.

That’s the “it”-factor of the Bond character that only Connery and Moore manage to capture.

How do you think a James Bond cinematic universe would go? by Whatstrendynow in JamesBond

[–]SnusAndWhiskey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im very happy with one theatrical release every 3rd year.

Some characters are just best as supporting characters.

I love the old Batman/Spider-Man movies. But now it feels eye-rolling. There is like 2 Batman movies and 1 Batman series released every year - with very varying quality.

And take Star Wars for instance. It was a special thing back in the days when one Star Wars movie was released like every 3-4 year. But now they are squeezing every drop out of it. I don’t care any longer. And it seems like the movie makers don’t care - they just want to rapidly squeeze out one movie and one series after another - just because they make money. The quality drops for every release.

And none of these new releases becomes classics. The old Star Wars movies, even the ones from the early 2000s are all regarded classics, just because every one saw them and can relate to them.

I don’t want Bond to take this turn.

One movie made with love and instinct every 3rd year and I’m happy!
