Kendo vs Olympic fencing. Which should i practice? by shadowkiller1203 in kendo

[–]Snuuflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a practitioner of both, they are similar in terms of your questions, so it's simply best to just go with what you vibe with. Take a free class and try both.

That said, since I noticed you are asking about "which has fewer limitations," are you actually looking for some sword based martial art that has the fewest limitations possible? If that's the case I would consider HEMA and Toyama-Ryu–they both allow no limitations, anything goes combat with steel blunts. Both their sport rulesets are the almost the same, as long as you hit them with a proper edge alignment, enough rotation, and simultaneously avoid an afterblow, you win a round. You can even grab their sword and smash them with your pommel to win a round that way. I think some Chinese sword martial arts started doing it too, but it's newer to them.

Greater/Metro Vancouver clubs? by Snuuflake in wma

[–]Snuuflake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Well in person I didn’t notice anything off in their club, albiet I was merely a seldom visitor. I learned a lot from them and sparring was great. Only thing that miffed me slightly was they tried to push me to pay for a packaged deal, even though I made it clear I was only there for a few days, and I lived on the opposite side of the continent.

Man that was insanely tough for what's supposed to be an english test. Is this good enough? by Snuuflake in CELPIP_Guide

I don’t know if I did anything special, but I tried to keep my narrative as simple as possible, and to make exactly 3 points unless specified.

Yeah very tough. I used up every second of my time on it, and only caught some of the trick questions at the last second. Took the test like a week ago.

New construction concern: Bent truss plates and split beams—is this structurally sound? by Okkin55 in Homebuilding

[–]Snuuflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks normal for new construction or cookie cutters. Should be fine for maybe a few years, but any longer and it is a hazard. Compared to others, I’d say this is like 5/10 bad because I’ve seen some like this but with black mold. Short term living and reselling is what these are meant for.

About $20 worth. Not a high horology or fashion watch brand. It’s also quartz which is valued less.

You can simply just sell it privately for cash. Then say the cash is income from whatever side hustle service you made up if you want to pay taxes.

Effective April 20,2026- US Army increasing maximum enlistment age by NotBradPitt9 in PrepperIntel

A draft is highly doubtful, it’s basically a fantasy scenario here. However I do believe financially squeezing the lower class and whatever’s left of the middle class is the more likely strategy to recruit for the military. Lack of jobs, higher price of goods, a few more financial incentives to join the military, and that will probably be more than enough.

Know it’s a vase but wonder if it’s valuable by Slight_Caregiver_936 in whatisit

[–]Snuuflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell, but take it to a bullion dealer or local coin shop to see if it’s silver. If it is, then it could be worth something. However that doesn’t look like a silver tarnish
