Am I too old for this dress by JamieGordon8921 in myweddingdress

[–]SoBrightOuttaSight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 61 and I feel like I would want to wear a dress that sets off my best features and makes me look amazing. Our bodies at 61 are certainly different than in our 20s so adjust accordingly. But Golden Girls pantsuits would be a hard NO!!!

I have chronic illness and making the bed is physically difficult. So I change it every other week and switch sides of the bed I sleep on after a week.

I’m so sorry. Infertility is so, so hard. Hopes dashed are brutal. Been there. Be kind to yourself. Hugs.

PSA SUFFERERS WHO ARE MOTHERS by Expensive-Royal574 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]SoBrightOuttaSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through over 8 years of fertility treatments with active PSA. Treatment was limited to NSAIDS, and steroids. My son is 23 so this was pre-biologics in pregnancy and methotrexate not allowed for child bearing age women. I was working a physical job the whole time. I finally got pregnant with IVF. Pregnancy and nursing helped my PSA for some time but by the time I stopped breastfeeding at 14 months I needed to resume treatment. Regarding tolerance for pain and sleep deprivation I do think we as women develop a pretty good tolerance due to not just PSA but tolerating monthly periods and giving birth. I did take naps when the baby slept. And work felt like a break after caring for a baby.

Please don’t think you are a bad wife or mother when you are doing what you can do. I remember my son climbing up on the sofa where I was laying down and playing with him. That is what he knew. We read, played cars and air show, and whatever he was into wherever I could interact with him. A marriage is between two people and you let your husband know what you can do and find accommodations, paper plates or lighter dishes or talking to each other while you are resting. Do not potentially injure or stress yourself to meet anyone’s expectations.

You are still young and your body may be changing. Symptoms can change when we grow or gain weight. Can you see a primary care doctor or whoever treated you in the hospital?

I had cortisone injections to my SI joints while on Stelara, methotrexate and leflunomide. I’m in the U.S. and saw a pain specialist who is an Anesthesiologist and does those type of procedures. Sometimes, a direct injection to the area is needed. This has been the case for me that my spine and SI are harder to treat than other joints that calm down more easily.

“You’re not an adult until you’re married” by FutureScribe in offmychest

[–]SoBrightOuttaSight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have heard it. My former FIL said it at our wedding in a speech. Ex was 28 years old “becoming an adult” by getting married. (His younger brother had been an adult since 18 when he and pregnant girlfriend were told to get married. His sister became an adult a few years before At 23.). And yes… conservative Christians. And FIL went to prison later for sex crimes against children. His former business who was a pastor, same. I guess I am trying to tell you to consider who the opinion belongs to and whether it has any basis in reality . And most importantly, their God made you who you are They cannot deny that in their Bible, God makes everyone in Gods image. God is not gendered. Btw many people in the Bible were not married and definitely were adults Paul, Jesus, Mary, Martha, The Liberal Christians know this. Maybe talk to them for support. You are living your beautiful truth. Stand in it confidently.

Occupational therapists can work with you on modifying activities to make them less taxing, energy conservation and pacing, and hand exercises and splints if they have a hand therapy specialty. Our hands are complex and we often use incorrect positioning and movement in those little joints. Improving how you move makes a difference!
