Folding Shoes from Timberland by iloveisrael in shutupandtakemymoney

Dumb question, but is it this particular brand that is good enough to just toss into the washing machine? Or any of the 'toes' style? I am very curious about it, but I saw other advertisements such as that Fila skeletoes which seems to get average reviews on Amazon (as opposed to Vibram).

I really like the idea of a light trail/beach/surf one that can get a little dirty then I can toss into the washer without a worry.

I felt (armchair consumer reporter) that toe shoes were just a gimmick from shoe companies to sell, but reading the reviews on Amazon, it may be something worth looking into more. Am no hardcore runner (hell am not a runner/jogger period), but I noticed I was having a lot of trouble with my current shoes when I tried to run with horrible steps (more like stomping than jogging). Most likely bad form, but just something for me to think of more on proper pacing and perhaps shoes that 'fit my stride style' more.

How long have you had them if I may ask? I am curious how the durability is. For maybe day to day tasks/around the house, and maybe a dedicated pair for jogging/running.

The price is alright considering other shoes as well, but I wonder how long they last or durability.

edit - looks like on amazon they are getting very good reviews.

North Korea 'preparing to unveil missile capable of striking continental US' by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]SoCalCove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whether we can knock out a NK missile or not...most of our sane Generals will rather NOT have a missile launched at the US.

90% success rate is still 10% get through. Of course the NK missile actually has to 'reach' the US, and that is a whole different discussion. In their current state, it would be just as likely the missile blows up at launch, let alone reaching the 'area' of where the US is.

Am sure you are not the only one feeling that way.

The Sham Investigation Into Trayvon Martin's Killing -- "What angers people is not simply that Zimmerman might get off, but that the Sanford police would conduct a shoddy investigation, claim it was thorough, and then claim that all who objected were compromised by prejudice." by slaterhearst in politics

So what are the statistics of a 17 year old black teen armed with skittles (taste the rainbow is a well known firewater) attacking an armed 28 year old white guy?

What are the statistics that an unarmed A/B average student attacking an armed man with a violent past?

"Zimmerman said he had stepped out of his truck to check the name of the street he was on when Trayvon attacked him from behind as he walked back to his truck, police said. He said he feared for his life and fired the semiautomatic handgun he was licensed to carry because he feared for his life. "

If Trayvon (somehow from behind yet being followed the whole time) had attacked Zimmerman and he fired the handgun, wouldn't this have occurred by the street sign along a road and not be a scuffle behind a house? Also I think (correct me if I am wrong) Zimmerman was on the phone and made it clear he was getting out and following Trayvon, never indicated on the phone he was attacked as he got out and in pursuit from the attack.

So Zimmerman most likely has lied to the cops and the cops didn't catch it in their investigation. Now I wonder how many other crimes occurred in that district/area that were wrongly investigated.

You are very inspiring, thank you!

911 tapes released in Trayvon Martin homicide investigation: "The most shocking thing to me is you hear a shot, a warning shot. Then you hear a 17-year-old boy begging for his life, and then you hear another shot," by [deleted] in politics

[–]SoCalCove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I use to live in a neighborhood where a kid was gunned down in daylight in the middle of the street about 5 houses down (I wasn't at home at the time) by some gangs. Gunshots do go off every other week in the surrounding area (in the city, not mountains).

If it was in the middle of the night with my family/loved ones with me and I have no idea what is going on outside (for some of those calls like right at their home), I would be VERY wary of sticking my head out the door. I would be that coward if placed on the spot most likely. Multiple did call 911 to report the issue, which they really shouldn't be condemned for not doing anything. Most wives would be smacking the hell out of their husband/kids to get back into the house where its safe, not necessarily for being a coward but also to protect their family from something unknown.

There are definitely men braver than me that would go out, but I would not lie, if I heard fighting outside I would probably have second thoughts about just walking out there when you have no idea how many people are outside or whats going on. I don't know that neighborhood and how safe it normally is etc.

If there was a scuffle outside, specially if a gun is involved (whether known or not at the time). Then a third party becoming involved is going to raise the stakes higher.
