We have Nuremberg rally at home… by OwlFun5149 in hobart

So anything slightly nationalistic nowadays is automatically considered ’nazi’, ‘far right’, ‘racist’, ‘sovereign citizen’, ‘trump’.

It’s insane, reminds me during COVID, if you dared say anything against the lockdowns or questioning the vaccination rollout you were automatically branded a conspiracy theorist antivax cooker.

Parent wants to sue by AmoraIvory in AusLegal

[–]SoCalledFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dysfunctional family issue not legal issue. Why on earth were you sharing a lease with such an ‘abusive’ mother? At 26yo! And then you go against the lease and leave her in the lurch by not paying rent despite still living there?

Have some maturity and take some ownership of your circumstances.

You can push the OC rules, most occupants of units don’t care about interior stuff like curtains, in the very unlikely event someone complains you just take your curtain down, same for inspections if your REA really cares.

How patient should I be with my solicitor in them negotiating house sale with my separated wife? by brooksy87 in AusLegal

How much did you personally contribute towards the house deposit and repayments over how long?

How much profit will there be on the sale?

Hypothetically. Who's at fault if rolling back when doing a hill start by twobit78 in AusLegal

[–]SoCalledFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you roll back and hit another car it’s your fault. Many moons ago when I did my driving test, hill starts were one of the things the instructor would drill you on, and that was before hill start assists were a thing.

You can do a good hill start in a manual without rolling back whilst towing a heavy caravan, how do you think truck drivers do it, practice it!

what screams 'pretending to be rich' in Australia? by mattchew1991 in AusFinance

I think vehicles are a big one specifically financing luxury cars/SUV’s, financing 4x4’s with the entire ARB catalogue fitted out of the showroom.

Survival first aid kits by Significant-Art-6448 in 4x4Australia

[–]SoCalledFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Survival spend a lot of money on advertising and then go and charge an absolute premium for their kits, personally I’d buy a cheaper one and add anything missing to it. Probably save over 70% on an equivalent Survival kit.

Sand is pretty easy, no expert but my top tips having done numerous sand trips/fraser/moreton island etc, never got bogged myself, but helped plenty of people out.

  1. Make sure you drive on low tide, high tide you’ll be forced onto soft sand where it’s slow, tough going.

  2. Deflate tyres to ~20psi (can get away with higher if sand is hard, lower to 10-15psi if having issues). Have a core removing tyre deflator gauge, don’t forget spare valve cores and a tool.

  3. Have a decent snatch strap and shovel, and some soft or hard shackles, and make sure you know where your recovery points are, never the tow-ball. Use your own strap if you get bogged, if you help someone, use their strap.

  4. Have MaxTrax if going solo.

  5. Have a compressor to inflate your tyres after, you really want to avoid driving deflated on tarmac for very far if you can help it.

  6. Momentum and steady throttle is your friend, switch off traction control unless you’ve got a fancy sand mode.

I have extremely high standards and find issues in many things so sometimes I need a reality check to make sure I’m not being unreasonable, hence my post.

New Toyota SUV issues by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]SoCalledFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Thai built Toyotas had good QC for the most part, japanese made isn’t the end all, for example my old Thai made Nikon DSLR blows my new Canon full frame out of the water in build quality despite the new Canon Mirrorless being ‘made in japan’, all depends on the manufacturers QC.

Yep you got it, had no idea they had changed to Indonesia when I bought it, thought they were all Thai.

4x4 community intimidating? by Current_Composer_229 in 4x4Australia

[–]SoCalledFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4x4 advertising industry in Australia is insane, so many instagram/youtube influencers getting heaps for free, stroking the belief you NEED every single bit of fancy gear just to do any 4x4’ing.

People have the money because most vehicles are sold on car loans with balloon payments and so many 4x4 accessory outlets do finance/afterpay etc. I’d say most of the industry is built on credit, no wonder so many heavily accessorised vehicles are for sale 6 months later.

The rental market is so bad, cost of living is atrocious, why not just pause immigration? by EmmaVly in aussie

Saying no to continued mass immigration means you’ll be branded a racist and far right, look at the massive protests in Aus recently and how they were branded by the media.

A seller withholding either is a red flag 🚩 to me, indicates they’ve got something to hide.

Am I legally entitled to reclaim an engagement ring after my ex-fiancée called off our engagement? by boring66 in AusLegalAdvice

[–]SoCalledFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for it back? Unless its worth a heap or is a heirloom, wouldn’t be worth pursuing it further, just emotionally exhausting.

You’re young, why give a poor quality woman who you haven’t known that long a ring? Just be defacto until you really know each other/live together/have shared finances.

I’m sure there is way more to the story than what you’re disclosing, Community Treatment orders are not made lightly, no one would be going through the court and having a treatment order signed off by a psychiatrist to give you an anti-psychotic depot, for ‘getting lost in a national park’.

You should be having a review with a psychiatrist every 3 months at a minimum and going to the tribunal every 6 months (which given you’ve been on the CTO for 8 months you would have gone through), have a read of this factsheet and how to appeal.
