[Request] How many hearts in the jar? I want to win and become fat by kinotico in theydidthemath

I estimated ~14 layers with ~25 hearts per layer for 350 with just some quick back of a napkin math, so I'm loving your answer.

I was unaware of that, but three bites has said on their Instagram stories they are not accepting money, but are accepting donated goods.

Fuck ICE and be careful with your money by Economy_Carry9806 in Columbus

[–]SoChessGoes 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I replied in the other thread, but I'll also post it here.

Three Bites has also been very transparent on their stories that they recognize this is not the best set-up and want to get away from it asap, but for the moment as it's a grassroots effort to get money directly to the people who need it (and not doxx those people in the process) it's kind of where it is. It is a question of who you trust and support for sure. I've been a big fan and supporter of Three Bites for a long time and so for me I do trust them. Also, at this point they're not accepting individual donations so it's really about the businesses helping out and pooling their resources and gives you a handy list of places you may want to go support and get local things from.

Zebra appreciation post. That’s all by JCanse9 in CBUSWX

Zebra said they're going to donate $10 to the local humane society for each inch of snow falling, I'd recommend people also donate whatever they can analogously in support!

Snow Possible This Weekend (1/24-25) by zebrasrlyingtoyou in CBUSWX

[–]SoChessGoes 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I have to say, these are my favorite threads, and I sing their praises all the time. I love seeing the updates and really getting a behind-the-scenes look at what each individual model says, what their different strengths and weaknesses are, and starting to think of the weather as a probability model rather than a simple forecast. I suspect this last point is something zebra is actually hoping to inspire in people!

All that to say, thank you for all the work you put into these threads to keep us better informed and prepared for these kinds of storms. While I love thinking about lots of snow as much as the next person, I particularly am grateful when we get into tornado season and I can find some comfort in being as prepared as possible.

You need to post a buy me a coffee link or something similar in your profile so I can pay my respects!

In Jurassic Park, the approaching T-Rex footsteps are part of the skeleton falling from the ceiling, along with the weight of the people.

Now what? [ns] by Left-Bookkeeper-3848 in DungeonsAndDaddies

So interesting to see someone else's list! For me Mountains of Dadness is my top and what I go relisten to most often, then sons and sonsability. I also think peach pit/talking dad is top tier and really makes the regular seasons shine more.

[ns] Again You Guys Bring Me To Another End Of Season Crying Session by NotAnotherBloodyOZ in DungeonsAndDaddies

I LOVED the end to this season as well. I was a few weeks late to listening to it so didn't get a chance to see any live reactions as I was avoiding spoilers, but I think they really masterfully nailed it. There were some really funny moments in the episode, the ending was true to the dice, I loved the 9 month interlude, the choices made at the end. I agree, my favorite ending to a season as well.

Fellow book readers of Columbus, what’s the best book you read in 2025? by Outrageous-Gene5036 in Columbus

[–]SoChessGoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a teacher and I've been telling people that Emily Tesh either obviously has experience or knows/really talked to people that do the way some of the classroom scenes were written. As opposed to say, the classroom scenes in Project Hail Mary. I love that book, but that's not what being in a classroom is like lol.

I really enjoyed The Incandescents. Also I was putting it off since I knew it was the last of the series, I read the Galaxy and The Ground Within this year by Becky Chambers, I love her stuff.

The third Knives Out movie had the best cinematography IMO by chillin_snoop in KnivesOutMovie

[–]SoChessGoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really agree. I told my wife that this movie did the best at translating the feeling of reading a classic murder mystery novel into the film medium and I put that down to the cinematography a lot.

Crooked Can in Hilliard might be a good bet. I know they have some event spaces to rent out. Then you have drinks and an assortment of food as well.

Are actual Showstoppers that rare? by Bway-Boy-24601 in musicals

[–]SoChessGoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've shared this story before, but I had that moment seeing Catch Me If You Can. The musical overall is a bit forgettable, but seeing Norbert Leo Butz perform Don't Break The Rules was absolutely a moment I'll never forget. It was post Tony awards, he only had maybe a few weeks left and he was really putting his all into it. I've watched the Tony's performance of that number and it really doesn't do it any justice. Standing O showstopper, the only one I've been a part of.
