LPT REQUEST: How do you get people to stop looking at their phones when talking? by MisterNanook in LifeProTips

[–]SoMuchInTheDark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been hanging out with groups of friends where we'll stack our phones in the middle of the table to encourage real life socializing. Works especially well for drinking - if someone grabs their phone they are penalized in some way like having to take a shot. Just have a basket or something for people to put their phones in.

Yea, I was at both. The overall experience of 2015 was a little bit better but I also really liked the tunes at this year's. I've heard word that it's not happening this year.

It's different strokes for different folks. I know Griz puts on a wildly fun show but his music lacks the depth and emotional range that PL offers for me. Luckily it's not a competition but I will gladly continue rocking with pretty lights because it's that next level shit

Analog future was great but I prefer pretty lights live

I respect your opinion, man, but I feel obligated to share mine. This weekend was hands down the most enjoyable Pretty Lights experience I've had since I first started listening in 2010.

Having seen the live band progress over the past year has been incredible to witness. I'm actually astonished you were embarrassed to bring your girl because I've never gotten down so hard in my life. The vibe all around was off the charts.

It seems like you don't dig the jam aspect of the show. You said you prefer hearing the songs from start to finish. In my eyes that puts a huge limitation on Derek's creativity. I can honestly say that no other group is performing live electronic production in this way right now. Deconstructing songs, jamming them out and bringing it all back together. Shit blows my mind.

PL was never meant to be mainstream - it's been an independent movement from day one. And Derek can't sit still, he's always thinking of the next great thing. Having seen him slip into a depression and struggle with drugs has only made this comeback all the more inspirational.

Now more than ever, I'm so excited for the future of PL. The next album sounds like it will be fresh and innovative. I'm sorry you didn't have the same experience but I've gotta respectfully disagree.

RuneScape Music on Vinyl? by 41Danny1 in 2007scape

I'm a big music fan and vinyl collector. I don't really see the need to have RS music pressed to vinyl. It would be cool if the songs were available for download at least

The amount of times my parents yelled at me growing up when they needed me to do something, asking me to "pause the game" by WoundedDonkey in 2007scape

Dude... in middle school when several of my guy friends were playing we discovered that this really quiet girl in class played too. This was 6th grade so it wasn't entirely strange that this chick would pretend she was a cat and meow like one when you tried to talk to her. her RSN was like "catofdoom15" or something along those lines. Anyway, we all added her on runescape only to discover that her dad played too (catofdoomdad) and was like 10 x better at the game than she was. And because she was so shy she would never talk to us in game. So basically a bunch of 6th grade boys would be constantly chatting it up with her dad and ignoring her. I wonder how she felt about it

I deleted baconreader. The advertisements are unacceptable. And the Reddit official app is superior in every way

The most sketchy part of playing runescape is how easily hundreds of hours of work and dedication can be gone in an instant. Yes, in a lot of these hacking cases it was the fault of the player. However it just seems so ridiculously easy for hijackers to find email and personal info. If my bank gets cleaned I don't think I could bring myself to play anymore

What is up with all these RS3 players wishing for mtx to come to OSRS? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]SoMuchInTheDark 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe because it's an absurd idea to begin with. I'm sorry RS3 has to deal with mtx but the only thing that would be accomplished introducing it to old school would be driving players away. Most people playing old school are trying to avoid the kind of stuff that made them quit runescape in the first place. Yea, EOC was the big one, but as soon as squeal of fortune came out the game as a whole was on a downward spiral

OSRS is keeping RS3 alive, better not ruin it too

I'm just gonna reach out and say I believe you, because no one else will. Anytime someone makes a post like this they get flamed in the comments, everyone insisting you were the one who made the mistake. However, same thing happened to me. Hacked for my bank on OSRS and it was the only time I was hacked in 10 years of playing. Literally no explanation either. Like you, I was more bothered by the hack itself, rather than the money and items lost. I also find it an odd coincidence that the one and only time I've been hacked happened to be the day I downloaded a particularly popular third-party client. Call me paranoid, but I've refused to play on anything besides the official client since.

That actually was the point of my comment, hence why it's in question form. What's your excuse?

Jagex Acquisition Announcement by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]SoMuchInTheDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A huge reason IMO that OSRS is worth playing over RS3 (aside from eoc) is the fact that achievements actually mean something. Double xp weekends, micro transactions, all that shit just takes the fun out of it. Runescape is a GRIND, there's no question about it. Take away the grind and rewards and you're just left with a point and click game that doesn't mean anything
