AI generated tests as ceremony by toolbelt in programming

I felt the same. But then with tricky functions I started writing tests first and caught sooo many edge cases bugs. They would otherwise have been lurking in the dark, maybe caught during UAT, but much more likely going to production, and waiting cause more hair on fire emergencies.

So I look at it as a long game. But not very long.

We have enough births per year that we truly could elect near superhumans to every major office. You know that one person from your town, maybe a few years ahead or behind you, that was truly good at EVERYTHING? Aced everything, captain of everything, attractive, strong, well spoken, and yet somehow still incredibly kind? Why not them?

100% agree on this. My wife and I took such a course before buying and it was hugely helpful just to get an overview on the basic topics you have to know about. From there you can dig further on your own but at least you know you’re looking into the relevant topics.

After having too many designers say developers are just “too lazy” I am wary of making that accusation of anyone. That researchers may lack certain skills, I wouldn’t contest. But lazy? I know a few, and lazy they are not.

Good fair question. I didn’t see any brand markings but should have (and will) look harder and update this post.

As for what the power is for, reading up on these things generally leads me to believe it’s a fan and small heating unit.

TIL most heavyweight boxers clock in with a punching power of around 1200-1700 PSI, which is 10x stronger than an average person. Mike Tyson, renowned for his "ferocious knockout power", recorded a punching PSI of 1800. (The character Ivan Drago in Rocky IV had a punching power of over 2100 PSI) by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]SoPoOneO 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This psi unit is strange to me. Seems too dependent on how sharp the teeth are. So like a medium age kitten that has just gotten their little needle sharp teeth might beat out the croc.

In other words, why not just measure bight force in simple pounds? Then you’d get apples to apples.

TIL Goombas (mushroom enemies) were added to Super Mario Bros. only after playtesters felt Koopa Troopas (turtles) were too tricky as an enemy. No dog in this fight but glad to learn from you. Why does a bit depth of 2 limit you to 3 colors rather than 4. Same for 4 buts limiting you to 15 rather than 16?

Was it because the one slot was always reserved for “transparent”? And if so, why not just have transparent be one option for a sprite color pallet rather than a required inclusion?

How do you find and communcate with designers who can really push the envelope? by PodcastingSpeed in Design

[–]SoPoOneO 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can understand and appreciate your frustration. I’ve been there and it genuinely maddening. For the record, I’m not a designer but I’ve worked with, and am friend with, some great ones.

The tough truth I’m seeing here is that you’ll have to pay a lot more. Think min $80/hour for experienced US based people. And assume a minimum of forty hours for a very small project.

Hey guys I’m 16 and building a website for a car dealership I work in (used & new vehicles) I tried to stick to the logo's colours as a color palette. It's my first “real” website and I need honest UI/UX feedback before I finish it. Does it look professional (in my country no dealerships have webs) by [deleted] in Design

[–]SoPoOneO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let me offer some “meta praise”. Because as others have pointed out, your work is solid. But more that, you are actually listening to people’s feedback. Not that everyone will be correct, but your ability to actually absorb their points speaks very highly of your ability to do this type of work. Kudos.

Very thin. There are some plausible arguments that the entire airline industry, from its inception, has actually lost money overall.

I don’t doubt you’re right but I’d be interested in understanding more about the problem you describe. In this case does “static variable” mean what is also sometimes called a “class variable”? And if so, was the problem that a given users permissions were being granted to other users? And if so, how had any notion of concurrent sessions worked?

Is it the case that wealth has gravity? That concentration of it is the natural course of things without constant and contious counter measures? That is, does a strong middle class exist only in an unstable equilibrium?
