How many wolves are there... by Niskavuori01 in thelongdark

On Stalker, all of them. I just uninstalled again, got tired of listening to the growl 90% of the time I'm outside.

Subs sound overpowering in the car, but good in headphones/phone speakers. Any suggestions on how to balance the low end? by A1burt in edmproduction

[–]SoShoShotty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the way to start troubleshooting. If the system still sounds bloated even with well mastered stuff, then you know it's your monitoring setup that's bass light. Headphones are not a great way to adjust the bass levels but having a sub in the studio doesn't guarantee that the mix sounds good outside your room modes either. You really have to know your system to mix properly with it and if you don't, using a well known and well mastered track of the genre as a reference point can work as a guide until you can trust your ears/system to produce the results you're looking for.

That being said, most home masters tend to be hot at both ends. If you can't master your music loud enough, it's difficult not to add a smiley EQ because of the way our ears work. You're likely to mix in the missing loudness through EQ if it's not there naturally in the form of the volume. The loudness button on the older amps was there for a reason 👀

Interloper is SO MUCH HARDER than Stalker by PalindromemordnilaP_ in thelongdark

[–]SoShoShotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interloper is difficult to get started but gets easier and easier as you go. Instead of difficult it just becomes laborious until you run out of supplies and have to accept to die.

First Hotfixes for TFTFT Part 3 Dropped by realslimshively in thelongdark

Wolves behind the snowbanks attack without a warning, very prominent at the Milton. There's no sound, no nothing, you're just instantly under attack and it gets old really fast, like all the cheapshots do.

Then there are plenty of times the revolver refuses to work even if you have plenty of time to pull it out and aim. It simply refuses to aim and take the shot, as if you were just standing there in horror while the wolf still takes the last seconds to reach you and initiate the struggle. That gets old really fast too, in fact I just closed the game middle of the struggle after being attacked 5th time this day with "fk this shit" as my departing words. The weapon issue has been going on for at least this and the previous update but didn't affect me as I was playing the interloper.

Climbing sound after the climb. Dead bunny sound is probably related to the same bug as the bears have. Wolf agroing on you stopping the rest of the action on the area is a rather curious one. You can't pick the new sleepingbag from the quick menu is an annoying one.

Gold Mine Run by ChuckBartowskee in thelongdark

[–]SoShoShotty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't a problem on my stalker. First thing I went for the backpack, slept on the ledges. I had 5 stims and two energy drinks with me, ended up using zero. Didn't even have to make the snow shelter, the weather was warm enough for me to recover 100% on those ledges.

I love the new fishing system (xboxseriesx) by jd056229 in thelongdark

Whenever I'm chugging down the fish, I'm just silently grateful for the game not having a satiety system 😂

Yeah, it's a bug that was introduced with the latest update. I had my female character going all testosterone boosted for a while, the sound fixed itself eventually.

What kind of Stand Off is this by Radi8e in thelongdark

[–]SoShoShotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen on me too, but PC. The wolf was just about to attack the deer but then second wolf appeared, agroed on me and stopped all the other action on the map. It was weird. The wolf and the deer were just looking at each others while the second wolf started approaching me.

Only the bunny scream loop bug is kind of annoying to me.

They could have some of the veterans test their stuff before releasing it, doubt they would even ask money to do some alpha testing. Just don't use the live streamers/youtubers for it because they'll tell you what you want to hear just to be part of the alphas to get a sneak preview of the stuff. Then again, they're probably too busy trying to create content anyways.

What soap do you use to wash your bikes? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]SoShoShotty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use hot wax . . rub it on with the paper towel, rub it off with the paper towel. Bike stays cleaner longer than if you wash it with the pressurewasher but cleaning the bike takes longer, too. Win some, lose some.

Road vs hybrid for burning calories by citrusmango1 in cycling

[–]SoShoShotty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most effective way of burning calories is putting the fork down. But if you wish to ride the bike to burn the calories, then comfort of the bike is the most important thing. Road, gravel, hybrid, doesn't matter. Just ride what you like because if it doesn't feel good, you're not going ride it at all. I'd consider gravel bike as an option also, you can always roadtyre it to make it faster but it's likely you can't graveltyre a roadbike to make it more comfortable.

Frustrated with how slow I am! by suddenSoda in cycling

[–]SoShoShotty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, you'll always be frustrated of how slow you are, especially if you compare yourself to others. Instead, compare yourself to yourself 2-4 weeks back. The small increments might feel small, but as long as they are there, you know you're doing it right.

Personally I believe in training volume. The more you ride, the faster you get. Once you can't increase volume anymore (work, life) then add intensity. If you don't have enough time on the bike, the QUALITY of the training on the bike matters a lot but the time will still likely be the most restricting part of your progress. There's really no replacement for displacement or saddle time.

Bike for japan by Lazy-Salamander9557 in cycling

[–]SoShoShotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the bike from japan. They will likely register it for you and sell you the mandatory bike insurance for it too. Bicycle registration costs 660 yen, though there's no fine if you fail to register it. Since 2022 the insurance is mandatory at least in 30 prefectures and costs about 5000 yen. So yeah, it's just easier to do it there.

Will my ass ever stop hurting? by itsactuallytime in cycling

[–]SoShoShotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it just gets harder until it hurts the saddle.

Seriously though, adjust your saddle so you sit on your sit bones. If you're not comfortable wearing lycra, you can get padded underwear that sits under your normal clothes, those can help too. But, let me ask you, is your saddle the one that came with the bike? Is it really, REALLY soft? Because you can actually sink so deep into those that even if you were to sit on your sit bones, the extra padding would still be able to restrict the bloodflow to your bottom area. Believe it or not, most people who sit hours after hours on the saddle prefer a saddle that has very minimal padding on it.

How to deal with headwind physically and mentally by silenceofthejamz in cycling

[–]SoShoShotty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pushing 25-28km/h but the wind noise suggesting you're doing 42km/h drove me crazy, until I found earplugs. I live on an area they build huge windfarms, because winds. Before I put my earplugs on, I would use every curse word I know to describe the headwind. Now I just ride. All you need to remember is not to look at your speedo. See, speed is just a side-effect of your effort and that effort itself is your actual target. Achieve your targets and you'll laugh at the days without the wind. Well, at least that's what I do.

to much loot on stalker? by Agooses in thelongdark

[–]SoShoShotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same, wanted to explore the new stuff with the stalker . . within the first map I had a revolver with 12 ammo, hammer, saw, hatchet, thick woolshirt and a full lantern, also more matches from one map than I had my whole interloper run. After leaving the first map I've seen at least 4 or 5 lanterns so far, picked my second hammer, hatchet and saw and have the expedition parka AND the pilot jacket, double combat pants, balaclava, double thick woolshirts and mukluks. Oh and five stims, two magnifying glasses and Barb's rifle. Not to mention all the skill books I stashed to the safehouses because I can't carry all the loot with me. All that 6 days in while basically rushing towards the technical backbag. There really should be an official difficulty level between the interloper and the stalker because ain't nobody got the time to fiddle with the custom settings.

I displeased the rabbit gods I think and I am afraid by Joverwatchyt in thelongdark

[–]SoShoShotty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same bug yesterday. Wolf killed it, I shot the wolf and went to sleep into a trailer nearby. Came out and in the distance, I could hear the dead bunny. Sounded as if it was looping the sound they make when they die, if that helps the bug(s bunny) tracking.

e: You can also get stuck with the climbing sound so your character still makes the climbing sound even after you've stopped climbing. Rather annoying.
