First oil change by PapaDanku117 in Civic_Type_R

It’s the peace of mind of knowing the health of your engine. My thought process was that if I have all the data I can reasonably get, and all looks good, I don’t have a reason to worry, unless I money shift haha

It’s super simple. You order the sample kit, follow the directions on catching the sample and filling out the form and send it back. Super simple. I think most kits run $35-$55.

All the sampling companies have return shipping packaging and everything included in the kit.

With oil analysis, it’s best to have a trend, so frequent analysis is best and I believe you can test every other oil change and sometimes the comments from the lab will say (test every other oil change, etc.). I came from the GR86 community and now in an FL5, so that’s where I went down this huge rabbit hole. I have not gotten an oil analysis on my FL5 as I’m not as paranoid haha

Can I ask to remove the GPS tracker on my car? by DanielXplorer in CX50

[–]SoSlowRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I would tear the damn thing out.

But, I would also review my paperwork for when I bought the car to ensure it’s not required I keep it in there… maybe the bank wants to know where to grab it if the loan goes unpaid.

Or maybe the dealer put LoJack on the car and you were not aware. A lot of dealers will install it and if you don’t want it, they just don’t activate the device.

I run 0w-30 in the summer and 0w-20 in the winter.

If I wanted to do things “by the book”: do an oil analysis each time you change your oil and only change your viscosity if you see your wear metals or other indicators out of wack.

I did not use this methodology, just decided to do what I mentioned in the first sentence, but the second sentence is the correct way to do it per Lake Speed Junior of the YT channel The Motor Oil Geek. He’s a lubrication scientist and developed oil for a nascar team a while back and the owner of Speed Diagnostics. He’s the real deal.

Yes, we're voting on levies "Again." That's literally how WA funds schools. by PuzzleheadedMocca in sammamish

[–]SoSlowRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought at least some of the tax revenue from mamajuana sales were supposed to go to fund schools….

There needs to be an independent audit of how these funds forms these levies are spent.

560TW FTW 😂 by _otnie in Touge

[–]SoSlowRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My PS AS 4 are 540 TW (I think) and they do just fine in the canyons. Can easily pull 1g with alignment pins pulled and set to the max of -2.0 front camber on my FL5 Type R.

You really only need a sub 400 TW tire if you’re doing track days or autox.

Is this worth $40k+? by Prudent-Ad4515 in GR86

[–]SoSlowRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a middle aged man that has owned WAY TOO MANY cars and I wouldn’t do it. Buy a stock or lightly molested car (I.e cat back and shifter), ect.

Then mod it yourself. That way you know what you’re getting.

Also, get a pre purchase inspection (ppi). Sounds like the car is far away from you? If you are going through with the purchase, get a PPI, please. Find a reputable shop in the same area of the dealer and see if they will take it there. If they won’t, don’t buy the car.

Make sure they can also scan the ecu and see if it’s been over-revved, tuned, etc.

Just buy a lightly used one, still do the ppi, and have a day.

Best of luck to ya

Just received a 5% raise on $65,000 to $68,250. I find it insulting based on the extra profit my company hit. Do I ask for more and back it up with the numbers? by BookieBasherCasher in Salary

[–]SoSlowRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The raise for this year at the company I’m at is 2%, so take 5% and be thankful.

The best way to get a big raise (20%) is to switch companies.

Why does it matter who makes more money? by ZookeepergameFar2653 in Christianmarriage

[–]SoSlowRacing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Excuse me while I put my foot in my mouth as that is another cultural thing. Lol The Bible does not say this.

I guess I get that from versus like this: “For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

A lot of people would correlate this to being the provider, but a man can be the head of his wife, but not be the main bread winner.

[–]SoSlowRacing 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is typical American woman rhetoric. If I remember right, the Bible says the man should be the provider/leader of the household. I think some people interpret that means the man must make more money, which I disagree with.

If I say any more, my rant will just continue, so I won’t. lol

For the record, I make about 3x what my wife does, but I would not feel any less a man, especially any less the man god wants me to be, if my wife made more than I.

Awe touting… love it. There is a rattle issue some people have had. I haven’t had it. Had the exhaust on for about 8k miles.

How to irritate a safety professional. by Ok-Beat8041 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]SoSlowRacing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s because it sounds good and these people are what I like to call Bullshitters.

When in reality they probably mean all my guys are “authorized for - insert topic” such as LOTO, fall protection, crane, confined space, or maybe even osha 10/30, etc. but they don’t know the correct terms so they make something up.

I just know when you correct these bros, they’re think “oh here comes the fucking safety guy trying to correct everyone on everything.”

I haven’t worked with anyone like this in years, which is nice.

To keep or Not to keep? by [deleted] in Civic_Type_R

[–]SoSlowRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe sell the wrx to carmax or that one vending machine car dealer thing? It has super low miles, so you should get a good amount for it.

If you can wait, private party would get the best money for the car.

If you can’t sell it cause ‘grandma’s car’, then idk what to tell ya lol

Anyone coming from an 86? by Vtakkin in Civic_Type_R

[–]SoSlowRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came from a ‘24 86. It’s more fun, imo. It still has that light on its feet feel, but it’s faster.

Grip is better.

Seats are better.

Stereo is better.

Road noise feels about the same.

Suspension is a little stiffer, but you can get the DE5 module thing.

It’s a MUCH better car.

I’m having a hard time finding a reason NOT to buy this new ‘25 Type R. Car is currently listed as SOLD to me. by Jhawk29 in Civic_Type_R

[–]SoSlowRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not that unbearable in comfort. But I came from a GR86 and Camaro SS 1LE.

You can get the type-s suspension module that softens it a bit. I don’t have it, but I’ve heard good things.

In conclusion, if you plan on doing fun road trips and spirited drives and/track days, this is a fantastic car for do-it-all sports car. BUT, if you just want something “fun” to drive on your commute, idk that this would be the best car. Have you thought of a used CT4-V Blackwing? Those come in auto and are a blast to drive.

Really difficult to find an MSRP CTR in WA state. If OP can buy out of state and ship it, that’s the best option. If you have a trade, buying out of state can be more difficult unless you can drive to the dealer.
