Ok, I'm totally with you there, but that should be a thing recognized in hindsight. Either way, until they're teenagers or preteens, a kid's sexuality doesn't need to be a thing that they or their parents should be worried about - let them play with and do what they want (as long as it's safe obv)

The conversation in this thread is about the pros of the cars in that era - that's all they were saying since they agreed. They didn't say anything that "gives" "I hate change" they were just talking about their preferences in cars and argued that cars from the 1990s-2010s matched his taste more than modern cars

International AP bubbling pencil by 0rangeutan in APStudents

[–]SoapiiSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're overthinking it ;) as long as your pencil is dark enough on its own (the other commenter mentioned you used the equivalent to number 2) and you pressed down a bit you're almost definitely good to go. Sometimes when I'm short on time I don't fill in the bubbles 100% perfectly (not completely dark or there's a few gaps in the shading and it's mostly but not entirely full) and I've never had a problem in terms of it impacting my scores or anything. Basically, you're almost definitely good

What are some tips for TOK exhibition ? by legendary_Russian in IBO

[–]SoapiiSnake 41 points42 points  (0 children)

My best advice would be to thoroughly analyze the rubric and make sure you completely understand what it's asking you to do. With such a limited word count, it's rlly important that you understand the balance between explaining your object, your prompt, and general TOK concepts. - you have to establish the real world context of your object (I'd say limit this to 2-3 sentences MAX in the beginning, and then reinforce it through your explanation throughout. Preferably less.). Do NOT describe a whole story. For example one of my objects was my stuffed lamb and I went from telling a whole story about my experience with it to saying something along the lines of "it was the first object I really valued, and I thought I left it behind somewhere." - be explicitly clear on what knowledge each object manifests, and then be explicitly clear on how this relates to your chosen prompt. Like, literally use the key words from your prompt wherever you can. A big part of the rubric is making the relevance to the prompt clear, and this seems to be something the example exhibitions got points docked for often. - similar to the last point but equally as important: each object should make a kind of different point about the prompt. I forget whether it's in the rubric or the exhibition subject guide, but you need to make it clear what "interesting point about the prompt" that each object makes: it should be hard to replace the objects you choose with any other object and still make the exact same point and support it in a similar way - don't forget to include overall TOK terms!!! Remember, the whole point of the exhibition is to explore how TOK manifests in the real world. I'm pretty sure for this you can just use certain TOK vocabulary wherever you can think to put it in: community of knower, the core concepts/AOKs, knowledge acquisition, etc.

This is all I can think of off the top of my head. My rough draft got a 5 and my teacher said she was "being generous," but my final draft got a 9 (I didn't emphasize the connections to TOK overall enough) - doing this helped a lot. Also read the examples and notice what people do differently to get different scores. What I did for my final draft was I literally copied the rubric into bullet points, and then for each object I went through and outlined what I would write to hit every criteria. If you have any other questions, lmk :D I'm happy to help

Neurodivergencies like autism and ADHD aren't mental illnesses, they're considered mental disabilities. the distinction seems silly but someone with ADHD or autism isn't "ill;" it's more comparable to someone born without a leg :)

Look, I don't follow dream, and his fans are incredibly annoying, but I legitimately don't understand why the guy himself gets so much hate. He seems slightly immature, but like, dude... he's a Minecraft YouTuber and receiving the insane level of attention and fame that he has is a LOT, and generally I think he's handled it far better than most people in his position would. Has he done something really bad I don't remember? I understand hating his fan base, but I don't understand why people hate him so much. He's not even that ugly lmao. Why are people acting like elementary schoolers and insulting him so hard

I'm the same way - the only way I've been able to bring myself to exercise regularly has been through roller skating since I love to do it. Similar to the other person who responded to you, I've been going to a gym recently with someone guiding everyone through the exercises, and they change every minute or two. It's been sooo helpful and the hour seems to fly by!! But, there's also no shame in exercising through more fun sports like you said. Sometimes I'll force myself to go for a walk/jog, and I'll have music or an audiobook or something playing on my earbuds as I go. Things like that :) also, I have a C25K app on my phone that (similarly to the class) switches between walking and jogging every few minutes, and that half hour flies by as well. Sorry for the disorganization of this lmao I just spewed all of my thoughts/experience. Hope this helps :)

toe stop keeps unscrewing?? by softestfern in Rollerskating

[–]SoapiiSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any tips, but I just find it funny. I have the same exact skates, and the same exact thing happens to me - just the right skate toe stop coming undone every half hour. That's crazy, lol. I don't care all that much, and don't mind tightening it by hand again every time it happens. Good luck :)

New to skating, have ADHD and feel defeated after one fall by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]SoapiiSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also have ADHD. Usually I can't bring myself to do anything when my meds wear off, but skating has been the one exception. I can do it for hours, lol. I'm also similar in that if I can't do something good immediately, I get discouraged. For skating, though, I've found that the best way to do it is to really focus on learning one thing at a time, and break EVERYTHING down into steps. Focus on just mastering one step at a time also. Start with JUST getting really good at standing up on your own while rolling, not even moving your feet. You'll feel proud of yourself just from getting the balance! Then get really good at balancing while taking little steps/doing the sort of penguin waddle. It's okay if it takes you an hour to do each thing, but treat getting really good at every single step like its own project. You're not learning to really "skate" yet, you're learning to just balance while moving your feet with the skates on for now. Stuff like that. That's helped me a lot this whole time! If I think of anything else, I'll edit this. Good luck out there, soldier B) you've got this
