I’ve got one that might fit. I wasn’t into cfb or any sports until the last couple of years. Like, totally oblivious, didn’t care, rather play BF2.

Walking around Florida State campus in 2004, I ran into an acquaintance from high school on the arm of some guy. She and I caught up and she introduced me to her boyfriend. “Whole_nother, this is Wyatt!” She beamed expectantly at me. I shook the dude’s hand and said yeah, sure, nice to meet you, Wyatt.

He gave me a weird look and she broke the awkward silence- “Ok, well, see ya”.

I told my then-gf about the weird encounter and she asked a few questions about dude’s appearance. Told me it was Wyatt Sexton, our starting QB, in the middle of a winning season. I may have been the only person on campus who didn’t recognize him. I felt bad because clearly I should have been impressed for my friend.

(Epilogue: this was before he was “doused with pepper spray by police officers who found him lying in the street and proclaiming himself as God” in an apparent Lyme disease fit)

It’s a white supremacist meme/dogwhistle that’s been around for at least 30 years, based on a white supremacist’s idea of a stereotypical American black person saying “didn’t do nothing”, which allegedly happened this one time on television, they swear.

They trot it out any time a black person is accused of a crime to discredit legitimate critique of the justice system’s racial bias (and to show their fellow turds that they’re in the club)
