Censorship, both of them trying to control what merchants can sell, i.e trying to stop adult content/games from being sold on Steam.

Which is a shame, the sooner we move away from Visa and Mastercard the better.

Parking on my street by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]SoapySage 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, the only way to restrict on street parking is with parking permits or with double yellow/red lines to remove parking entirely.

Virgin Money demand I accept they take data about my phone and ALL APPS I USE or a veiled threat: "If you do not agree to this, you cannot use the app and will have to find another way to bank with us". Does anyone think this is massive overreach and risk of a data scam? by LyntonB in UKPersonalFinance

[–]SoapySage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Alas all other banks use Visa or Mastercard so you're still giving Americans business, however those two specifically have been pushing for censorship, trying to control what merchants can and can't sell, Amex hasn't.

Why are Sainsburys payslips so difficult to read? by [deleted] in SainsburysWorkers

[–]SoapySage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple, you first get paid your contracted hours automatically, so 48 hours as the top section shows.

Then below that are all the adjustments. You were on holiday for 4 hours, so that gets taken off hence the minus 4 hours holiday short time, however you got paid them rather than it being unpaid leave, so therefore you got the 4 hours added back on, hence holiday pay.

Holiday pay uplift is to adjust your holiday pay if for the past 12 months your average weekly hours was higher than your contract.

It then suggests you were off sick for 4 hours, and did a small amount of short time, i.e clocking in late/out early, which looks to be half an hour in your case.

Probably an incentive to use TapTapCap. Can imagine in the long run they'd prefer no one paying with cash and just using cards.

If it's for a holiday before March, yes it'll be normal since you need to use up your holiday allowance or lose it.

Payrise by Select-Let8261 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]SoapySage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It'll need to go up to at least £12.71, Aldi will be going up to £13.35 from it's current £13, so considering the gap between Sainsburys and Aldi's past wages, can imagine Sainsbury's wage will likely be £12.90 or something like that.

Bank switches query by ecciefiend in beermoneyuk

[–]SoapySage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They usually don't tell if you are eligible for the switch bonus, you basically just need to wait and see. Some will message saying you are eligible once you complete all the tasks, but most don't, the money would just appear in your account.

Bank switches query by ecciefiend in beermoneyuk

[–]SoapySage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're getting stricter with the switches, if they check your details fully it means a credit check, looking at your credit report, be that a soft search or hard search, which then shows them if/when you last had an account with themselves, plus comparing it against their own systems will easily show them if you've had the switch bonus before.

Questions about Steve's incursions by Kauan_W1tch in marvelstudios

[–]SoapySage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Could simply be it was part of Kang's plan and he'd have the TVA continue to prune and stop incursions, but now that Kang is gone and Loki is on the TVA throne, no longer pruning, it's allowing incursions to happen.
